Jennifer Marie Wilks

July 31, 1988 - November 25, 2005

The Mountain
When the task at hand is a mountain in front of you, it may seem too hard to climb. But you don’t have to climb it all at once --- just one step at a time. Take one small step...and one small step...then another...and you find...the task at hand that was a mountain in front of you...
is a mountain you have climbed.

Hello to everyone and Merry Christmas.

Well yesterday (Christmas Eve) Mary, Elaine and I served a nice steak, chicken and shrimp dinner to the families on the oncology unit at the new Dell Children’s hospital in Austin. We served 15 families as well as the nursing staff. We had some great help from our friends to make this day a success. I would also like to thank Robert, the manager at the Joe's crab shack on 183, for supplying our holiday feast. So go to Joe’s Crab Shack and thank them for making this happen!

We also raised enough money through the Jennifer Wilks Foundation (www.jenniferwilks.org) to give each cancer patient and thier siblings a stuffed stocking and $100 worth of presents. We also gave each set of parents $200 in Visa girftcards. The weekend before Christmas we had the parents fill out a paper telling us which each child wanted/needed for Christmas. That weekend Mary and Elaine went shopping. :)

Mary and I understand how hard it is to have a child in the hospital, pay bills and have a Merry Christmas. We helped 15 families in the past 3 days. I would like to thank the Mark and Stephanie at Tex-Dot for raising $4500 at the 2007 Turnpike Open Charity Classic Golf Tournament. Without you this would not have happened, THANKS! And I must thank each of you that donated to help pull this event off. Because of YOU, there are some happy families and Jennifer is smiling down on you!

Other great things in 2007

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society named an award after Jennifer. Its call the “Jennifer Wilks Relentless Award”. It’s given out to the person that has gone above and beyond the call for the society here in central Texas. This will be an annual award.

Make a Wish honored Jennifer at their annual Banquet at Roy’s Hawaiian Cuisine. They gave out a drawing that Jennifer had turned into make a wish of our Disney cruise. If you go to Roy’s here in Austin, you will see the drawing as you enter the restaurant.

At the 2nd Annual Jennifer Wilks golf Tournament in April we raised just over $20,000. This allowed us to give back to the charities that kept a smile on Jennifer’s face. We gave almost $3700 to each charity, His Grace Foundation, Leukemia Lymphoma Society, American Cancer Society and Any Baby Can. We also gave $5000 to Make a Wish to grant a wish for a little girl here in Austin to go to Disney Land. A special thanks to all the players and the sponsors: Advance Auto Parts, Floor King, RG Tate Associates, Design Assembly Concepts, Jacobs and Sons Enterprises, Capitl Kia, Chase Bank, Vista Ridge High School and all individuals that made this a great success.

2008 will be a great year for the foundation. Mark your calendars for the golf tournament on April 25. Sign ups will start in January.

I know that Jennifer is in heaven and looking down on each of us and smiling.

Thanks and God Bless
Tim, Mary, Timmy and Elaine
