I've been thinking about you a lot lately. I love you so much, and you're my number one inspiration in life. I miss your smile and your hugs. Thank you so much for watching over me. Happy Mother's Day, Mo! You are the best. I LOVE the Blake story. You made me cry. I can just imagine him holding your hand as you finished the book with him. I know Griffin was right there listening too, probably happy to FINALLY hear the end. I can just hear him saying, "Duh, I've been waiting for the end. You think just cause I'm in heaven I didn't want to finish the book?" I'm sure both your boys were cracking up at all the fart jokes. Hope your day was wonderful. Love you.

Monique,
I am remembering the time we were in LA and driving with Grif in our car. We were explaining to him why Seattle had "pig art' on the street corners and LA had 'angel art', when he asked me if there really were angels. We spent the next few hours talking about angels, and what their special powers might be. We decided that when we became angels, we would have flying races and dive-bomb through the clouds. I'm missing my special buddy more than ever. I am so blessed to have known him, loved him, and had his love in return.

Love to you all, Lucinda

Monique,
I don't feel like it is an accident that I decided to read about Griffin tonight. Actually, it was almost exactly 2 years ago, today when I first "found" Griffin's site. We had just received some really scary news (turned out to be nothing, though)about "something" showing up on my son's CT scan. I was, of course, a total basket-case begging for prayer on Chandler's Caringbridge site and YOU wrote to ME in the guestbook! Once I read your uplifting, encouraging, informative message I then went immediately to Griffin's site. Much to my sadness, you had just lost your adorable little boy! I remember staring at the computer screen in total disbelief! Here I had just "met" a new cancer mommy via Caringbridge and your fighter had already won his battle! I carried your home phone number around in my pocket for weeks...just in case I needed to talk to you. (I still have it in my address book at home....still, just in case) Thankfully, upon rescanning, the "something" turned out to be "nothing." Chandler has continued to be totally without symptoms ever since. I don't read your site very often at all. I think one of the last times I read your daughter was just about to be born or either you'd just had her. I was so excited for you. Not that Sydney could ever, ever replace Griffin, but a new baby does signify that life DOES go on. (I may have checked in one other time after that) I hope both Blake and Sydney bring you all all the happiness that you so richly deserve.

Again, I do not think it is an accident that I picked Jan.4 to check back in on you. God has some weird ways sometimes, if you ask me!

Hoping that you and your husband are finding some peace. Heck, I hope that isn't insensitive or stupid of me to say, I really do not know what to say to you. You have lost your first born child!! Anything I think of to say to you sounds so trite, but really it isn't . It is meant to be hopeful and meaningful and most of all sincere....but as close as I feel to you, I don't really understand the depth of your pain, you see, I got to tuck my fighter in bed tonight, but you had to send your fighter balloons in heaven.
God bless you and your whole extended family.

I just can't believe it's been two years since we were bringing food to you guys at the hospital and praying so hard for Griffin then crying so many tears along with you when he left for Heaven, time passes so much faster than the pain in our hearts ever could.
I think of Griffin often, how i wish i'd had a chance to meet him in person, especially after reading the stories left in the guestbook,he was such an amazing young man and i feel saddened to have learned of you all to late to have gotten to know such a beautiful young man in person instead of through others memories of him.
I'm thinking of you all today, especially Griffin, thinking of that amazingly big smile he had and hoping your wonderful memories of him bring you some comfort on a very hard day.

I loved the pictures....those kids are growing up so fast. I was hoping to see more, but I guess I have forgotten how to view the older pictures. I felt so drawn to visit griffin's website tonite...isn't that funny? I guess subconsciously I knew it was soon to be his 2 year anniversary for his angel wings. It is hard to believe that it is 2 years now. I don't have personal memories of him to share, I'm sad to say, but he and your whole family profoundly touched my heart....forever. He was, without a doubt, a very unusual child! He must be so proud of his brother, and his new baby sister. I always think of red balloons when I think of him...and that huge grin of his. :) And of course, his big heart! God bless you, and I'm glad you had a good halloween, christmas, and new years. I think of you often, and hope to see you soon. God Bless Griffin and his beautiful spirit! Much Love, Janet

I don't even know where to start when I think of my favorite things Griffin said. My absolute favorite thing he said was, "I love you Marni. I'm gonna miss you"...who am I that God let what the last thing your angel boy said to me be so loving and so lasting?

One of my other favorites is when he and Courtney were in the hospital together the last time he was admitted and as she helped get him ready for Heaven, she told him she would see him again when she got to there. He asked her, "But how will I find you?" and she said, "Don't worry, I'll find you". My friend Suzy was praying in her home around the time Courtney died--although she was unaware that Courtney was taking her last breaths. She said she got a vision of Court calling for Griffin and him running toward her and knocking her down with a giant hug when he saw her. Somehow I just know that is exactly what happened. Thank you for keeping us all posted. That is soooo great about Sydney almost walking! Any second now. Give hugs and kisses to Blake and Syd from me!

I have three stories about Griffin - I couldn't figure out which I like best, so I am gonna write all.

When my step-dad was in the hospital with cancer, (Griffin's step grandad), Griffin came to visit and brought with him a balloon, which he held on to during the whole visit. Just as he was about to leave, he pulled my mom over to the side and gave her the balloon and whispered to her to release it when Erik (step dad) went to Heaven. The thoughtfullness!! (She did release it just as instructed).

Then, when my step dad passed, the whole family went to spread his ashes, on top of a hill in Ca which required a LOT of hiking. Griffin went on that trip up that hill, which took several hours. It was very hot and the mountain was steep. I remember many times catching Griffin because he was ahead of me and the hill was so steep, and he kept falling kinda head over heels, instead of trying to fall feet first. So after a day of this, we were all tired. We went back to the hotel and visited for a while. Then as I was leaving, he said "thanks for being nice to me, Aunt Sunny". What a sweetie. He said that all on his own. Nobody made him do that. Those are the things he used to do.

And the last one, was one time visiting Grif in the hospital (early on), with a friend of mine who had heard from me about Grif and did not totally beleive what a cutie-pie angel he was. We visited him for a couple of hours. Then when we were getting ready to head out, he asked his mom if he could walk us out, which she said was fine. He walked us down to the elevator and said, as we were walking "I wouldn't be walking so funny if I didn't have this needle in my leg!" (making a joke). We laughed at that! Then he told me friend it was so nice meeting her and invited her back. She could not beleive this sweetie pie and talked about what a great kid he was. She talked about him for weeks.

That was the kind of impression he made on people. He was just so amazing in that way. I think that he touched the hearts of so many people and I think in that way, he has helped all of us.

Mo, remember him this Christmas with love and all the wonderful ways that he has touched all of our lives. We are so lucky to have had him for the short time that we did.

So hard to end this right... but I wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!!

I think about your precious Griffin all the time. My heart aches for you all. I hope you have the best Christmas that is possible. Since I was with Griffin on that magical day of his tour of the police department, one of many best parts of the day was when he visited the Narcotics Division. It was so cool to see this little guy sitting at the table with all the Narcotic officers planning a raid. He was so intense. I am sure if they had let him, Griffin would have worn that raid gear he was wearing to a real raid. That day, next to the day my daughter was born, was honestly the best day of my life. Thank you again for letting me be a part of it.

Mo, Hi! I sure do miss you. I pray you and Sydney are feeling better now. I decided to check in tonight because I have been thinking about you a lot. My favorite thing about Griffin was that toothless grin he always had on his face. I will always treasure the night in the hospital the week before Griffin went to be with Jesus. He said to me, as he hugged me, "I love you!" That is the most precious gift he gave to me. Because Griffin and I did not have that kind of a relationship. It was just understood between us and for him to say it. I will never forget. I Love You! I hope to talk to you soon. Merry Christmas. Love Sherrie

I have never met Griffin, so I have no story or know anything he said. What I can tell you is that your entries and Griffins story is so incredibly touching, that it brings tears to my eyes reading it. I am sure Griffin is getting tons of yu gi oh cards in heaven, especially the dragon card he so wanted. Please God, dont let the memories fade ... bless this family with CLEAR memories and stories of Griffin. I cannot imagine your pain, but I do pray for your peace. Bless you all

You have been through soooo much Monique!! You are a very strong person and I know you will be okay. Keep up the good work at Weight Watchers. I joined with my daughter in January and lost 50 pounds. We are on hiatus right now due to my surgeries this summer but plan to rejoin soon. I have maintained my loss and have 100 pounds to go. Going with someone makes it more fun and having someone to encourage you and be accountable to is important.
Griffin's Birthday Party sounded great. I know he was looking down and enjoyed it with you. You are such a great mom and wonderful woman. Don't ever forget that!!!

Thank you for keeping us all posted. I check this sight regularly and I miss you all so much, much more than can be imagined. Mo, you are the best mother I have ever met. You are amazing with kids and you deserve alot of credit for all of your hard work. Maybe someday I can be forgiven, until then, know I am always thinking of you, Barry, Blake and now wonderful Sydney. Love you all.

Has Blake ever seen the movie Zoolander? It almost looks like he is doing the pose that Ben Stiller always does. I have a funny picture of Kevin doing it.

Arggg! A pirate party sounds AWESOME! Paige wants to come with us too, so look out because she and Lindsay are huge baby hogs!!

I love the poem you posted. I remember reading that some time back. Lindsay was a big Winnie the Pooh fan when she was little and for some reason, turning 6 was this huge milestone to her so I really like that poem too :)

Peyton was talking about Blakey's party the other day and then told me what she wanted to do for her party. She asked me if Griffin is still 6 and I told her "Yes, forever and ever he'll get to be 6" and she said, "Do you think Griffy thinks it's cool that I'm about to be 6 too?" I told her he probably did :) Peyton wants to let 6 balloons go on her birthday and then again on Griffin's birthday so they can celebrate being 6 together...

Did you get that book I told you about yet? It kind of rambles, but the first 30 or so pages where he describes Heaven is well worth it :) I told Peyton about some of it and she was happy to hear that Griffin, Courtney, Kelsey, Lauryn and Elisha would meet her at the Gate one day. All she worries is that she'll miss the big wedding at the farm! I told her "No way, Grif and Court won't get married until we're ALL there!" :)

Love you guys so much. Can't wait to see you in a couple of weeks.

PS--way to go Syd!! Roll on sister...

I went to our Zoo twice this week!
(But my pictures won't be as cute as yours.)
They had a special surprise for me
and gave the hippos (my favorite Zoo animals)
a mid week treat of honeysuckle and bamboo
thrown into their pool. One side of the pool is a
HUGE glass window so we are actually right next
to the hippos. It was so much fun watching them
swim and eat.

Wish I had know Griffin when he was
three...such a precious boy, that's for sure!!!!

He did so great thru transplant - just like he did with everything - he was a champ, and an inspiration to so many.
