Welcome to Estar's Friend Zone, a place for hope and encouragement, for a girl battling serious illness, and for those of us whose lives she touches.

Estar is in every way a miracle. She has chronic lung disease, scoliosis, and an immune system problem, hypogammaglobulinemia. None of these challenges have stolen her enthusiasm and joy. Estar loves to draw, to fish, and to sing. She dreams of a career in media -- writing books and creating graphic designs.

Things are settling down a bit for Estar, so it is nice to report good news. We had a significant setback after her school bus was in an accident in March, but the pain is coming under control and she is again on the mend. It's been a very good week. Estar is in therapy twice a week now and making progress. Her IGG level has been high enough that we are moving next month to receiving platelets every four weeks instead of every three. Her spirits are high as she anticipates some fun family outings this summer. Her next platelet infusion is tomorrow, so positive thoughts are appreciated.
