HELP ST. JUDE BY CREATING A PEPPER AT CHILI'S TO FIGHT CHILDHOOD CANCER!!!!

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Chili’s Grill & Bar® announced the kick-off of their fifth annual Create-A-Pepper to Fight Childhood Cancer campaign. Now through September 30, Chili’s restaurants around the country and, for the first time, in Puerto Rico, are marking National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month by inviting people to get creative and raise funds to help St. Jude find cures and save children with cancer and other catastrophic childhood diseases.
Guests at participating Chili’s restaurants can contribute to St. Jude in multiple ways:

- Make a donation to St. Jude and receive a Create-A-Pepper chili pepper coloring sheet designed for display at restaurants during the month.

- Purchase Create-A-Pepper T-shirts that can be customized with permanent marker.

- Buy a customized Create-A-Pepper key that can be cut for use at home or the office.

- Eat at Chili’s on Monday, Sept. 29, when Chili’s will donate 100 percent of profits from participating restaurant sales to St. Jude.

Visit www.createapepper.com and to make an online donation.

PASS IT AROUND!!!!

GET YOUR FRIENDS/FAMILY TOGETHER!!! TRUST ME ITS SUCH AN AMAZING CAUSE :)

Hello Ella!
I hope all is going well for you and your family. I enjoyed reading about you. I am 14 years old and i am in the 8th grade. For our science project we are to learn about two kids battling cancer and make a puzzle piece all about them. I chose to do mine on you! And when everyone is finished all of the puzzle pieces will fit together to show all of the kids battling cancer.
I hope everything turns out ok!

Thank you for your website. Out daughter Zoe was diagnosed with wilms August 9, 2004, stage 3. In the last week of chemo, a routine chest x-ray revealed 10 samll tumours in both lungs. We were devastated and began new chemo regime of carboplatin, VP16 and Cyclophosfamide sp?. In just 3 rounds, the tumors are all, miraculously, gone in her lungs, but we are scheduled for full lung radiation next week and I am very nervous about it. Did your daughter have any radiation?

Thank you for making your way to Miranda's site. It always amazes me from what part of the country, even the world, people come from and land at her site.

Much like Ella, Miranda was diagnosed at eight months. Her battle was long, painful and frustrating... and that was just for us. You can only imagine what it was like for her. Through her short four years, one month and one day... she always was able to put a smile on our face. The pictures at her site truely encapsulate her, and especially her spirit.

I will be praying for your family and Ella. Most of my prayers are filtered through Miranda these days... God does seem to be listining to me. LMAO

Is it interesting how much **** they go through and they take it as if it's just another day. Now all is left is our tears and a sanity check every once and a while.

Even if I don't always sign in ... I'll be checking in

WAHOO! Clear scans! So happy! We missed you by just a couple of days. Spencer had his scans on Tuesday. I feel the same way about Spencer growing up. He climbs up in the "big boy chair," as Jennifer calls it, and sits there by himself to get accessed. Isn't it kind of a mixture of pride and sadness to see them get used to scans and port accessing? I think no kid should have to get USED to stuff like that, but it sure makes life easier when they do. Congratulations again on the clear scans. We'll pray that Ella and Spencer have clear scans for the rest of forever, right?

Take care,

Hello from the a now white MN!

About 8 inches of snow here today and a winter storm warning for most of the day. School was let out early, and Justin's basketball game was cancelled, and so are Ali's basketball games for in the morning. She has Junior Olympic volleyball in the afternoon, so we will wait and see about them.

Wyatt and Carter are staying at Grandma and Grandpa Rechs tonight. With all the games I thought it would be easier with Jimmie working this weekend, but Mother Nature sent us white stuff instead.

Sorry it has been a while since I signed in, hope all is well. Your smile just melts my heart:)

If you haven't already joined our support group WYATT'S FRIENDS I'D LOVE TO WELCOME YOU TO OUR GROUP, PLEASE CONSIDER JOINING. Come meet other parents with children with cancer or a disability, or those who are learning and helping support us.

Dear Ella and Family,
Just stopping by to check on all of you. Great pictures, ella you are such a pretty little girl. I am so glad you are doing well. I pray our little Olivia comes through as you have so far. These littles are such troopers. They are all truly amazing. But fear we all have when it comes time for a scan or anytime they get sick. Hang in there and I am thinking of you and all the families out there that are fighting this dreadful disease.

Hey Tina, Thank you for your prayers for Garrett. We are heartbroken and are very anxious to hear from the doctor as to what to do next. Yes, it is Monday evening and we still have not heard back from them. He was supposed to have chemo today, but why do it if it is not working. I am so glad that Ella is doing so well. Don't worry about Hank, he seems to be a big, healthy boy. I am going to give Shay permission to give out my home phone number or email me at smilesmom@msn.com and I will give it to you if you would like to call or get together. I don't know when we will be back in the clinic, hopefully it will be tomorrow. That is pretty bad when you are hoping for you child to get chemo. Anyway, please don't hesitate to send an email or call me. Give a big hug to the kids from us.

Yeah Ella! I am so happy to hear about your scans! Tina, I know it was a very anxious time for you, but Oh, Boy, what a relief! I am hoping we will be seeing you at the Halloween party Friday at the hospital. It is at 10:30 and we meet on the 2nd floor. I am going to be taking Kyle and Caleigh out of school so that they can go with Garrett. You know my kids, they will never pass up free pizza! I may have to find another costume for Caleigh though, the one that I bought her may be too warm. Oh, well, Texas weather! How is the baby? He must be getting big and I know Ella is probably putting hats on him all the time the way that she loves hats. Hope to see you on Friday, if not we are at the clinic every Monday.

Just received a call from one of my twins who are 21 now who was having side pains and could not figure out what it was that was causing the pain, he has always called me when he is ill and still calls me just so I can talk to him about it, some habits stay with you and should, His name is Adam he had Wilms tumor when he was 18 months old, and had his kidney removed with a the two pound malignant tumor, and went through about a year of chemo, and a lot of scary moments.

He never had another issue with it other then all the check ups or did his twin ever have any signs of wilms, and really never been ill at all.
That's what brought me to your site today just checking on Wilms Tumor and read your site, my heart and prayers go out to you and your family, it was not a easy thing to get through but hope is very strong with this illness and so are the advances that they have made in the last twenty years.

My younger brother who has three children two girls and a boy, also went through this 14 years after I did with his 6 year old daughter, the same thing as my son, they still said that it is not hereditary at the time that two brothers off spring would have wilms tumor, two weeks after my brothers daughter last chemo treatment his three year old daughter had surgery for the same thing, his son who is three shows no signs at this point at all.
Every one is doing fine and are past the two year mark after the last treatment.
Our family is on a study with the university of Texas to try and see what could be a common gene or DNA or what could tie these three together with the wilms tumor, no real good info as far as I know yet. By the way we all grew up in Southern Wisconsin.

I will check on this in the next couple of weeks and if interested can get you connected with my brothers wife who has been on top of this more then I have, who also is a nurse.
I know it was very comforting to be able to talk to other families that went through it when we were going through it.

The note was left to give you a positive note that hope is real and the strength of your family joining together to deal with this will get you through it.
Good luck and our prayers are with you.

YEAY Ella for the great results on the scans!!! I'm so happy for all of you :> Katey probably had whooping cough too, she had the same type of coughing spasms esp at night. She is up to date with immunizations but it didn't matter, lots of kids got it in the area. I'm glad they started Ella on antibiotics altho it does cause belly cramping and diarrhea, too. Hoping she's feeling lots better now. I'm so sorry to hear about Alexandria--we'll be praying for their family...Stay strong and healthy Ella, we are praying for you always~

Hi everyone,
I'm glad to see all is still going well. Hope you are enjoying the last of summer here. We are trying to do so as well. Tina, I just wanted to say that I didn;t mention before, but a while back in your journal entry you mentioned how tough it can be after treatment and a lot of the feelings you didn't feel at the time come back to you. That was so true for me, Here I thought I was going nuts about it, and then at the time, I read you entry and realized I wasn't the only one! I got through that and now they all think I'm just plain nuts! Anyways, I thought that was a great insight and I am glad you had posted it at the time. Nobody seems to mention that kind of thing. Its not in a brochure, thats for sure!
I hope all is going well with the baby and the kids.
Take care,

Hello Tina and Ella! Thank you for stopping by and signing Garrett's page. Ella picture is wonderful. She has always been such a happy child, but I kind of miss her lovely hats! Tina, are you going to be going to the Mom's Night Out w/Candlelighters? There is a group of us going, me, Wendy (Jacob's mom), Lenair (Jarrod's mom) and I am hoping Missy (Mark's mom) will be there. It should be fun and we should all have alot to talk about. Please consider going. Garrett will be going to the clinic on Tuesday for his second round of chemo. He came up to me today and said, "Mom, my hair is coming out again." And then he proceeded to grab a handful of hair and pulled it out. I hate it when he does that. We were fortunate to have a friend that paid for family portraits and we had them done last weekend, so we will have pictures of Garrett with hair. I better get going. If I see you at the clinic, please remind me to give you my number or you can ask Hannah for it. I will let her know that it is okay to give it to you. I hope to see you and Ella soon. By the way, how is the baby doing? He must be big, he was big enough when we saw you last. Take care.

Tina,

I'm so glad that you got to meet Spencer! He's really not much of a social butterfly, so the raisin eating instead of chatting sounds just about right. :0) I'm so excited that Ella started preschool. How fun for her. I feel the same way about the milestones in Spencer's life. I no longer take for granted that he will automatically get to go to school, or play sports, or even grow up. But, it makes those milestones that much sweeter, right? I'm encouraged that your kids' memories of chemo are fading. I really hope that happens for ours, but I agree that it would be great for them to remember all of the kindness and good people that are a part of this journey. I hope you and I get to meet face to face one of these days. Ella is such a doll.

Thanks so much for signing Spencer's guestbook. I LOVE Ella's hair! She is so cute! Yes, the following around behind with the IV bag is more exhausting than actually going to the clinic and getting the chemo sometimes, I think. Dear Tina and Ella,
Hey! It was good seeing you guys at Parents' Night Out also. Ella looks wonderful and my heart just melted when she gave me a hug. I am so glad that Hank's scans came out fine. He is such a big boy already. Thank you for visiting Garrett's site. I did not know that you had one, but now that I do I will visit it often since we don't see each other at the clinic anymore. (Which is a good thing, meaning we don't have to go that much anymore, but a bad thing in that we don't see you and Ella that much.) Take care and I hope everything will keep going well for you and your family!

Hi Ella,

My name is Shauna Jones. I saw you once in the clinic when I was in there with my son Spencer. I know you are one of Nurse Jennifer's favorites, and you were so darling, I can see why! I just wanted to say hello and tell you that I, too, only have one kidney. I was diagnosed with a Wilm's Tumor when I was 2 and they took out my right kidney. I have lived happily and very actively on one kidney pretty much my whole life. I have three really cute kids and I turn 30 this year! Good luck with everything, and enjoy that new baby in your family! Maybe we will get to meet again someday and we can compare scars! :0)

I haven't read any of your journal yet (just the home page and the pictures section), but I have pictures in my family album of MY kids on THOSE cows! The Arboretum? Check on you soon!

Here's a Mother's Day poem for your mommy~

WONDERFUL MOTHER

God made a wonderful mother,
A mother who never grows old;
He made her smile of the sunshine,
And He moulded her heart of pure gold;
In her eyes He placed bright shining stars,
In her cheeks fair roses you see;
God made a wonderful mother,
And He gave that dear mother to me.

Ella what a beautiful princess you are. Too pretty to be covered in powdered sugar. Can Ella open the fridge yet? That is a real treat. Andrew, the muscular boy in our family, could open the fridge at 2 and serve his 4 year old brother snacks. I led a sheltered life with Trey his arms were too weak (two broken arms) to open anything. We sure do miss old Andrew getting into trouble and boy was he good at that. Hope all goes well at your house. Congrats on the baby (my husbands growing up nickname was Hank).

Hi Ella~
Are you busy being a big sis?
Here's a special poem for you!

For the joy of summer sunrise
And refreshing drops of rain
We are thankful
For the gift of each new morning
And the chance to try again
We are thankful
For a child who smiles like sunshine
And whose cuddles conquer pain
We are thankful
For life's harmonies and discords
For life's comfort and its strain
We are thankful
For this child who brings fresh feelings
And new reasons for each day
We are thankful
For his eyes that speak with meaning
That mere words cannot convey
We are thankful
For the hours and the minutes
And the seconds of each day
We are thankful
For friends' smiles and warming handshakes
When they don't know what to say
We are thankful
For the strength of love here present
May it never fade away.
We are thankful for all of these things.

Hi and I hope Ella is feeling great this weekend. I came across your page on Brock's site. My daughter has bilateral wilms with mets in her lungs as well. After four months of chemo, they removed one kidney (and large tumour) and, miracle of miracles, were able to remove the tumour in her remaining kidney by using the skills of a transplant surgeon and kidney transplant techniques. They were not confident going into surgery that they would be successful given the location of the remaining tumour, however, they were. I hope that you will be able to find a solution like this one for your little angel. Shiri still has tumours in her lungs and we start radiation tomorrow. I was interested to read that Ella had a rough time ten days later. That helps me to know when to watch for possible adverse side effects. I appreciate you sharing your story and will add your family to my lists for prayers and hope.

Chemo is done. Now for the next couple of years it will be a wait and see. Just remember the cancer is gone. Give it up to GOD. Live your life with her as if it never happened. That is what I am doing since the chemo. You can't live your life expecting it to return. That is no life. Enjoy her, enjoy the rest of your life.

Hey guys, we read your "stuff" all the time - it's so wonderful to be able to read what's been going on without having to take you away from important things (like sleep). I truly admire how strong all of you are - Tina, you've never complained once about spending countless hours away from home and without sleep to give Ella the care and support she needs. We're rooting for you guys and we can't wait for the day when Ella gets her very last treatment, chemo, etc and can be "disconnected" for good so she can jump all over your furniture and not unplug herself. (You're really in trouble then - if she's this active while on chemo - look out when she's finally off of it!) Please keep up your entries - I'll be checkin' 'em while we're in China. (God knows I"ll need something to read that's acutally written in English).
All the best!! The Feens

We will make a bonfire with the stroller she has been in all this time along with Tina's blue jeans she has worn for days on end at the hospital. We will then modify a suicide bomber jacket to fit toddlers who need chemo strapped to them - instead of having someone chase behind them with a pole - and make a fortune on the sales and pay all those medical bills (assuming we aren't in prison for ordering all those suicide bomber jackets off the internet.) Do you have ANY idea HOW many people are PRAYING for you ALL over the United States and EVEN around the WORLD? I have a penpal named Immanuel and he was born and lives in the southern part of India. He is praying for you ALSO! Isn't that AWESOME to know so many people who don't even KNOW you are PRAYING for you? I just LOVE that photo of you on your rocking horse! You look like you are having a GREAT time riding your pony, little girl! LOL~ LOL~ God Bless YOU sweet little girl and God Bless your Mommy and Daddy. You are blessed to have SO many people who LOVE you! I am going to be a first-time Grandma in just a few days, but I am going to have a GrandSON and NOT a GrandDAUGHTER. How about if you be my "adopted in Jesus" Granddaughter? Good! I love you! You tell your Mom and Daddy that if they ever need somebody to TALK to, I'm here--even LATE as night as well--since I live on the Pacific Coast, I am two hours BEHIND Texas time.

Aunt Shelli

Our prayers are with you all. We have learned in so many ways recently the value of prayers for our grandson Chase. We know Ella will feel them too. Paul & Norleen

Dear Little Ella and family,
You don't know us, we're friends of Aunt Domie and we want you to know that we're praying for you every day. Get better sweetie pie. And by the way, who needs hair when you have such a pretty smile :^)
God bless you and your family. Stay strong & have faith!

The web page is great and she is such a little doll. I will continue to keep Ella and your family in my prayers. I was thrilled to hear you had good news on Friday. Please let me know if there is ever anything I can do to help.
