Thursday, July 2, 2009 6:57 AM CDT July 4th will mark our mark our 6 years of independence from treatment!!! Drake and I flew home that day after completing all of his treatment. When you watch the fireworks, please take a second to say a quick thanks for Drake's health and to all of those who have helped get to where we are. Wade and I know that it we could not have done this journey alone. We have been so blessed with family, friends, and strangers! I easily see little ways that God helps us everyday. I do not thank you guys enough. If you have a second, please sign in. Drake does check.
Drake did not have his eye surgery. The scheduler had not allowed enough time. Therefore his surgery will be July 16th. I am feeling better about having it because his eye seems to be turning in more and more. HE even is walking with his head slightly turned to see, that has to make for a stiff neck.
All of his blood reports from St. Jude came back normal. They were checking his thyroid medicine, etc. He does need more growth hormones, easily done. Our friend, Justin, had a great check-up too. Our friend, Avery, just had scans and all was well.
We have had a great summer. We have made several playdates, new and old friends. We have made three pool trips, to extra fun pools. We have made a trip to a smaller waterpark in a near city. Yesterday, we went to "The Hottest, Coolest, Time in Texas...Schlitterbahn". It is the number one waterpark in the world, according to the travel channel. It is in New Braunfels where Wade's parents live. We see it everytime we are there. We have just not been able to afford it for the past three years and before that Drake could not have handle it for a number of reasons. We went with our Colorado cousins and a group of friends. Wade had to work. He was really bummed but we are gearing up for a trip and he did not think the timing would work well. We had a blast! Drake never rested from 10-8pm!!! I have to say, I am quit stiff this morning! One of Drake's friends was asking him about trying the thing that drops you and you soar through the air like Superman. The guy said wouldn't that be fun?! Drake said I have one thing to say about that, "No WAY!" That's my boy. Now in the water, fearless. He was doing some crazy river rides and got weperated from me numerous times. With all of of our friends helping it worked out.
My brother, Beck and family are here from Colorado. We have spent the week playing. Wade said this was a hard week at work because it felt like he should be on vacation. Next week, we will head to the beach, to play. We will return later in the month to volunteer. This trip, will be with my two brothers and their families and my dad and Jaci. My mother was to come. However, they changed her school calendar. You know in Saudi, things are not as stable.
THANK YOU for helping us suport a family at The Lighthouse. Last tally we were at $775. They had been on a retreat and could not get all the final totals in. I will get a list in mid Aug of the people that sent it in directly. Sorry for not been able to send you a thank you, yet. It is very touching! Wade did not want to "ask" for money. However, that is part of the way you get commitment and awareness. Please checkout their site if you have not done so. I can't say thank you enough. I am hoping to be able to get NEW PICTURES on. I will let you know.
