Friday, April 11, 2008 8:07 PM CDT Hello Friends and Family...this is Clint. I thought that I would write my own entry and give you an update from my own perspective. I just finished my final round of chemo shots this past week at MDA. All of my lab results came back clear and the doctor and I came to the conclusion that this is as good of a time as any to stop taking the shots. I have been on this specific protocol for 2 years and that makes me the only person in the world to have been on this medication for that period of time...and everything looks good. Yes, it's a little bit scary for me and my family to be ending the treatments, but at this point, there is no reason to believe that staying on the drugs is better than getting off. Because this is a new research drug, we don't know the real long-term effects and we decided to take our chances. I believe in my doctor and believe that after coming this far, it's worth it. The next steps are to just stay out of the sun, take a couple of prescribed medications, and go back in a few months for my immunizations. Things are looking good for me.
I have started scouting baseball part-time for the Phillies...a life-long dream of mine. It is definitely keeping me busy but I am loving every minute. As most of you know, one of my true passions is hunting...unfortunately, I haven't gotten to go as much this year as I would like, but I guess that's part of the world of baseball scouting...lots of time spent at the ballparks.
I just wanted to thank you all for your continuous thoughts and prayers over the last few years. I wouldn't be where I am today without all of you praying that God take care of me...and He definitely did. I can never begin to show my appreciation enough, but it means the world to me that you all continue to check this site and check in on me. Thank you for that. I would like to give special thanks to my hero that made all of this possible...Tom Roberson, my donor. If it were not for him, I wouldn't be here today and I will never forget what he did for me. He is a special man and deserves the best life has to offer. Please always keep him and his family in your prayers as well.
In a strange way that no one will ever understand, the past five years have been one of the greatest experiences of my life. I have learned to truly appreciate the life I have and take nothing for granted. I'm a better person having gone through this phase of my life and look forward to helping others the way all of you have helped me. Thank you Mom, for keeping this site going and letting everyone know how I am doing. Again, thank you all for your dedication in praying for my good health.
Love, Clint
