Thursday, December 6, 2007 1:33 PM CST Thank you for praying for Caroline! Your prayers have not been in vain. The last eleven months have seen such a change in our dear daughter, and the change has been most positive indeed. Caroline's scans all year have been clean! She has regained the weight she lost over the course of her illness, and looks splendid. Emotionally she is happier, more cheerful, vivacious, and excited about life. Praise God for His blessings! We continue to see her Houston doctors on a regular basis for scans every 4 months, dental checkups to monitor the effects of the facial radiation she got, and her surgeon. This summer Caroline had plastic surgery to reduce the appearance of the huge nasty scar that ran down her neck and back up around to behind her ear. What was a ghastly mark is now a faint thin line. Our baby is doing things we seriously doubted she'd be able to do. Thanks be to God, we have been blessed beyond belief.
She has started to put her regained teenage energies to work for others. Caroline collects pull tabs from canned pop for the Houston Ronald McDonald House, RMH, the life-saving facility where we stayed during her treatments. The RMH recycles the tabs and uses the money for goods and services for the families who stay there while their children get medical treatment. If you don't already pull your tabs for a RMH, please consider doing so. If you cannot find someone to give your tabs to, please let us know. If we can't come get them, perhaps we can direct you to someone in your area who can. This worthwhile cause helps sick children and their families cope during treatment.
Wishing you and your loved ones a glorious Christmas and a New Year full of blessings from our most loving Father and His son, our Savior, Jesus Christ.
