SADIE GRACE CUSHMAN

Our Precious Angel
May 23, 2003 - July 31, 2005

Journal

Thursday, September 1, 2005 7:31 AM CDT

As promised, I have posted some of the portraits we had taken of Sadie before she passed. Isn't she beautiful? A true gift from God.

Let me start out by thanking everyone who has contributed to Sadie Grace's Benefit Fund. Unfortunately, the bank will not let us know who has donated (privacy laws) so I don't get to send out Thank You's to everyone. If you have contributed, thank you so very much for making this burden a little easier for Scott and I. Because of your donations, we will be able to pay off all of Sadie's medical bills and funeral costs. We could not have done this without your help. Any funds that are left over will be donated to a family we have befriended who has a little girl that needs a special surgery. The mom is single, young and does the best she can between working and hospital stays. They could use the money and we think that is what Sadie would have wanted us to do. Thank you for making a difference not just in our lives, but in thier lives as well.

All of you who have continued to keep up with us on the website have been amazing. The prayers and words of encouragement have kept our heads above water and lifted us up when we thought we would fall. The Internet has been a Godsend to me. I have met so many moms that are dealing with similar issues that we dealt with, and sometimes they were the only people I wanted to talk to...because I know they understand. Knowing that people were praying for us and for Sadie gave me comfort and strength. God walked this journey with us every step of the way. Although we didn't understand why Sadie had to endure so much, we always knew there was a higher purpose to her life that we wouldn't comprehend (at least not until we are in heaven too, then God will have alot of explaining to do!).

We have been told over and over that we have been an inspiration to others. We don't feel like we did anything extraordinary, we just loved our little girl. We wanted to give her every opportunity to make it in this world, but her brain just wouldn't cooperate. If we HAVE inspired anyone, I hope it was to appreciate your health - and your children's health. Realize that the little things you worry about are just that - LITTLE THINGS. If you are healthy, and your family is healthy, then you have everything. Lean on the Lord and He will get you through the little things....and the big things. Remember that no one promised you a smooth and wonderful life. The only promise you have been made is that God loves you and will never leave you. Remember that, and you will be an inspiratoin to others too.

So, with that said, please know that I will not be updating this site anymore. This site was for Sadie, not us, and her journey has ended. No more doctors, seizures, medicines, I.V.'s, tests, tubes or pain. Just peace. I know she is happy now....I just wish I could be with her. But, I know will be one day. Until that day, I plan being a support to others who are walking the same path we have gone down.

REMEMBER - whenever you see a special needs person....that is someones blessing, not someone to be stared at or scared of. Nothing used to bother me more than to see others staring at me & Sadie and whispering. Or, even worse, to come over and ask me what is 'wrong' with my little girl. The answer, however, was simple: "NOTHING IS WRONG WITH HER, THAT IS JUST THE WAY GOD MADE HER". We don't understand why, but God does and that is all that matters.

Keep your faith, don't sweat the small stuff and reach out to other families to give them support when they need it.
Thank you for everything.
Cyndi & Scott Cushman
