Lisa Lowrey, Kambryn's mom, and I have set up a Vanderbilt Children's Hemonc Forum for our families, past and present, to get together and chat. Our hope is that we can have a place for families going through active treatment to get to know each other... families whose kids are done with treatment can talk about what's next and families with angels to connect for friendship and support. We also hope to start raising awareness for Childhood Cancer here in Middle Tennessee as well as help the families going through active treatment. Basically this is one solid place to connect and hopefully help find a cure for this horrible cancer that has drawn our families together. Check it out and let us know what you think. If you have any ideas or questions we would love to hear them! Also, please feel free to pass this info along to other Vanderbilt families... I know I have missed several, so the more we get the word out the better the forum will be! We hope to see you over there!

We miss Kainen just as much today as we did the night he went to be with the Lord, and it hurts so bad that we can't hug, kiss, play, or talk to him like we were blessed to do for nearly 5 years. The next few weeks will be especially hard for us and our family as we approach the two year anniversary of Kainen's trip to Heaven, so please pray that God will continue giving us strength to make it through this difficult time. I just read tonights Lewis County Herald. The article on the front page about the upcoming Christmas parade made me remember the look in Kainen's eyes when we handed him the bucket of candy to throw in the Christmas parade. We are planning to do a balloon release in memory of Kainen and in honor of the one year anniversary of his trip to Heaven. We know that Kainen is doing great now and will never be sick again. We can't wait to walk on the streets of gold with him!
The balloon release will be at Freedom Holy Temple cemetery (where Kainen is buried) at 3:30 on Sunday, April 22nd.

We would love to have another Kainen bracelet!! My son, Seth, sort of understands how Kainen got sick and that he is in heaven now. Seth keeps asking when he'll get to go play with Kainen. I have tried to explain life, boy is that tough. We plan on doing a balloon release in honor of Kainen and your family. We have decided on the colors green and blue. Thank you all for continuing to remember us in your thoughts and prayers. This week will indeed be especially hard for us as we approach the one year anniversary of Kainen being called home to be with the Lord. We continue to think about him constantly, and miss him so much. Some of the positives that help us get by are the thousands of precious memories we have of Kainen; the support we receive from our family, friends, and Church; and of course the peace of mind God has given us knowing we will see Kainen again...it's only a matter of time.
We have ordered new “Kainen” bracelets with a different design and scripture on them to commemorate the one year anniversary of his trip to Heaven. We are giving the bracelets away as our way of saying thanks for praying for Kainen during his battle with cancer here on Earth, and for remembering us in your prayers to this day. Just send us an e-mail or give us a call and we’ll be sure to get one to you.

We would like to let everyone know that we still read Kainen's guestbook daily, and that we really appreciate all of the kind words everyone has written here. Your support really helps us out emotionally, as we are still constantly struggling to overcome the grief of Kainen's departure from us and his passing on into Heaven.
It was a tough Mother's Day weekend for both of us, but especially for Tonya. The upcoming weekend, however, will probably be even tougher as next Sunday is Kainen's birthday...he would have been 5 years old. Please continue to pray for us as we need the peace, strength, and comfort that only God can give.

I just wanted to let you know that I myself never grew up around church or god. I knew nothing of the sort... I knew that he exsisted but, after my brother died when I was 14 and he was 20 I felt like god hated me because he took the only person that I completly cherished and now he was gone. everything that has happened has made me realize that when I have my children I want them to know god learn everything there is to learn and be able to do as kainen has... walk with jesus and spread the love that he left on earth for everyone who needed it to take it.. thank you for the wonderful son you have and the wonderful way he has "paid everything forward."

Your whole family is such an inspiration. My friend Amy Hawkins was in the tornado in Hendersonville and was left paralyzed protecting her two sons, the faith she and her husband is as unbelievable as yours. I sent Jerrod (Amy's husband) Kainen's we site and I hope your faith helps them. You all have touched so many. Jerrod has stated they have ask why so many times, but knows God has a plan for them. Jonah and family...What an awesome tribute to Kainen and a blessing of a testimony. I know with your love and faith in God you will be alright. This is the first time that I have visited your beautiful child's site. This is without a doubt one of the most touching and heartfelt journal entries that I have ever read. In the midst of your grief, you seem to be offering comfort to others. God will surely bless you for your faithfullness and for your willingness to share your story as a witness to others. God bless you and may He fill your heart with the peace that surpasses all understanding.
This is one of my favorite verses: II Corinthians 4:18. The King James Version talks about how the things that are seen are temporary but the unseen are everlasting. I love the Living Bible translation of this verse. "So we do not look at what we can see right now, the troubles all around us, but we look forward to the joys in Heaven which we have not yet seen. The troubles will soon be over but the joys to come shall last forever." What a blessed assurance we have.

I don't remember sobbing ever so much I have after reading this beautiful tribute to your precious son. His funeral was touched by God and moved everyone in the church April 24. WOW! We admire you all in so many ways. Just reading the last journal entry made me reflect on my own life more than ever. I've found an inner flame I had forgotten about. THANK YOU for sharing Kainen's life and your faith with us. Blake (who is 6) has talked about Kainen and where he is for the majority of this week. We went to the grave and Blake loved the fishing reel. He had a hard time understanding how Kainen used the tree branch for a rod. Thanks so very much Tonya and Jonah for sharing Kainen's life story with all of us. A very special thanks for allowing us to be apart of his life and your family. As I have told you both, that little angel was very blessed to have in my opinion the most wonderful parents a child could have. (Kailee is blessed) Kainen was a very special little boy that was blessed to have parents that had strength, courage, faith, and the love to show him how to live life and how to love. I know he has changed many young peoples lifes, Kainen has taught them how to never give up, not to complain, and enjoy every minute of time they have here on earth. Tonya, you and Jonah have taught them how to be good parents, and to never lose faith that all things are possible. And that God is important. You have touched our hearts and touched a special place in my sons heart. I think of you daily and hope that with time the pain in your hearts will lessen. My thoughts and prayers are still with you all. If you every need anything do not hesitate, let us know.

Dear Keltner family,I cried when I heard Kainen passed away.My sister in Hohenwald has been keeping me up to date and my sister-in-law Brenda in Illinois has been checking his web site every night. Kainen's picture has been on my refrigerator ever since receiving it & he has been on our prayer list at my bible study each week.God knows best & he is now with the Lord & feeling no pain.There are so many sick children. We at "Grannys Quilts of Love" pray over each quilt sent to the childrens oncology dept.at Little Rock.I pray "the peace that passes all understanding "be with you & your family at this time.

Coach Keltner and Tonya..I love you guys so much, and I loved Kainen with all my heart. He was always my favorite player :). I am going to miss him so much. He taught me so many things. He showed me how to make a bad situation good. He gave me hope. When something seemed to be going bad, or I if I was having the worst day ever one look at Kainen and it made my day perfect. I loved him so much and I have went to talk to him a couple of times. I am praying for you guys. I love you both so much and I don't know what I would do without you guys. I know that Kainen is in heaven watching over all of us. Today during our game I knew Kainen was there with us. I love you guys and hope to see you soon.
