Lisa Lowrey, Kambryn's mom, and I have set up a Vanderbilt Children's Hemonc Forum for our families, past and present, to get together and chat. Our hope is that we can have a place for families going through active treatment to get to know each other... families whose kids are done with treatment can talk about what's next and families with angels to connect for friendship and support. We also hope to start raising awareness for Childhood Cancer here in Middle Tennessee as well as help the families going through active treatment. Basically this is one solid place to connect and hopefully help find a cure for this horrible cancer that has drawn our families together. Check it out and let us know what you think. If you have any ideas or questions we would love to hear them! Also, please feel free to pass this info along to other Vanderbilt families... I know I have missed several, so the more we get the word out the better the forum will be! We hope to see you over there! Vanderbilt Hemonc Heroes! Stephanie Dixon <Stephanie@Stephaniedixon.com> Stuart, Fl USA! - Monday, April 16, 2007 7:37 PM CDT Thank you all for continuing to remember us in your thoughts and prayers. This week will indeed be especially hard for us as we approach the one year anniversary of Kainen being called home to be with the Lord. We continue to think about him constantly, and miss him so much. Some of the positives that help us get by are the thousands of precious memories we have of Kainen; the support we receive from our family, friends, and Church; and of course the peace of mind God has given us knowing we will see Kainen again...it's only a matter of time. We have ordered new “Kainen” bracelets with a different design and scripture on them to commemorate the one year anniversary of his trip to Heaven. We are giving the bracelets away as our way of saying thanks for praying for Kainen during his battle with cancer here on Earth, and for remembering us in your prayers to this day. Just send us an e-mail or give us a call and we’ll be sure to get one to you. Thanks again for all the visits to Kainen’s webpage, the kind posts, and of course, for continuing to remember us in your prayers. We pray that God pours out his blessings on each and every one of you. Jonah and Tonya Keltner <jonahkeltner@hotmail.com> - Monday, April 16, 2007 1:09 PM CDT Jonah and Tonya, As a year closes in since you lost your beautiful son, I pray that the Lord continues to comfort you both. Despite everything, I hope you had a great Mother's Day! Know we are thinking and praying for you constantly! A Mother's Love There is no love, like a mother's love, no stronger bond on earth... like the precious bond that comes from God, to a mother, when she gives birth. A mother's love is forever strong, never changing for all time... and when her children need her most, a mother's love will shine. God bless these special mothers, God bless them every one... for all the tears and heartache, and for the special work they've done. When her days on earth are over, a mother's love lives on... through many generations, with God's blessings on each one. Be thankful for our mothers, for they love with a higher love... from the power God has given, and the strength from up above. by Jill Lemming Chantel Overbey <cstarbck@hotmail.com> Murfreesboro, TN USA - Monday, May 15, 2006 4:05 PM CDT Your family remains in our prayers, and we will especially lift you up in the coming days. I have gotten tremendous comfort from the following quote since my mother passed several months ago. I hope it helps you as well. I now picture my mother standing beside me as I pray. I am convinced that Kainen is thanking God for the love and care you bestowed upon him, asking God to soothe your hearts, and busily being an angel doing the work of the Kingdom! With deep regards, Carol "In the next world, man will find himself freed from many of the disabilities under which he now suffers. Those who have passed on through death, have a sphere of their own. It is not removed from ours; their work, the work of the Kingdom, is ours; but it is sanctified from what we call 'time and place.' Time with us is measured by the sun. When there is no more sunrise, and no more sunset, that kind of time does not exist for man. Those who have ascended have different attributes from those who are still on earth, yet there is no real separation. "In prayer there is a mingling of station, a mingling of condition. Pray for them as they pray for you! When you do not know it, and are in a receptive attitude, they are able to make suggestions to you, if you are in difficulty." Love you forever. Jane <janetatum@bellsouth.net> Hohenwald, Tn - Thursday, May 11, 2006 7:27 PM CDT A Mother's Day Wish From Heaven Dear Mr. Hallmark, I am writing to you from heaven, and though it must appear A rather strange idea, I see everything from here. I just popped in to visit, your stores to find a card A card of love for my mother, as this day for her is hard. There must be some mistake I thought, every card you could imagine Except I could not find a card, from a child who lives in heaven. She is still a mother too, no matter where I reside I had to leave, she understands, but oh the tears she’s cried. I thought that if I wrote you, that you would come to know That though I live in heaven now, I still love my mother so. She talks with me, and dreams with me; we still share laughter too, Memories our way of speaking now, would you see what you could do? My mother carries me in her heart, her tears she hides from sight. She writes poems to honor me, sometimes far into the night She plants flowers in my garden, there my living memory dwells She writes to other grieving parents, trying to ease their pain as well. So you see Mr. Hallmark, though I no longer live on earth I must find a way, to remind her of her wondrous worth She needs to be honored, and remembered too Just as the children of earth will do. Love, Jim, Faith, Josh and Hope Faith <faithglazer@hotmail.com> Knoxville, TN USA - Sunday, May 7, 2006 10:03 AM CDT I just wanted to let you know that I myself never grew up around church or god. I know with your love and faith in God you will be alright. Kainen taught me the meaning of being humble over the past year or so as I came to know him through this web site and Jane Tatum. I am a richer person for it and as sad as the final outcome may have been, Kainen did God's work. Just look how many people he brought together. May God grant you his peace and comfort and fill the hole in your hearts with his love and mercy. God's Peace be with you. Denise and Shelly Webb <adwebb@earthlink.net> Hohenwald, Tn Lewis - Thursday, May 4, 2006 9:34 AM CDT Hello, This is the first time that I have visited your beautiful child's site. This is without a doubt one of the most touching and heartfelt journal entries that I have ever read. In the midst of your grief, you seem to be offering comfort to others. God will surely bless you for your faithfullness and for your willingness to share your story as a witness to others. God bless you and may He fill your heart with the peace that surpasses all understanding. This is one of my favorite verses: II Corinthians 4:18. The King James Version talks about how the things that are seen are temporary but the unseen are everlasting. I love the Living Bible translation of this verse. "So we do not look at what we can see right now, the troubles all around us, but we look forward to the joys in Heaven which we have not yet seen. The troubles will soon be over but the joys to come shall last forever." What a blessed assurance we have. I pray for you both and your families for the strength and comfort to carry on. Your faith in God is what will keep you going, as well as knowing that that precious little boy will be waiting for us all when our time comes. May God be with you always! God bless you. Christine Elder <christineelder@yahoo.com> Mt Pleasant, TN USA - Wednesday, May 3, 2006 6:31 PM CDT Jonah and Tonya, I can't even begin to express how much I admire you both.We all know Kainen is in a much better place now.I can honestly say that I have sat here and cried like a baby reading your entries. For someone who has been through a time such as you both have been, I find it inspiring that you take the opportunity to provide such great advice to others.Kainen has left behind a legacy, and will never be forgotten by the world just as a Babe Ruth or Dale Earnhardt as you forementioned. It's miraculous how such a small young man carried the weight of all his illnesses upon his shoulders as if he were care free...I know that you both will continue to grow stronger each day, but I hope that you will keep in mind that all of your friends and neighbors here in the community will never fail to be there if you need us. May God continue to answer you prayers and give you the strength to carry on, David, Ethan, and Shea Staggs David Staggs <davstag9@aol.com> Hohenwald, TN USA - Tuesday, May 2, 2006 8:25 PM CDT Jonah and Tonya, As I sit here and wonder how to put into words how I feel, I realize that mere words are not enough. Kainen touched so many lives, including my own. I have realized that I shouldn't take anything for granted when it comes to spending time with my son. The four pieces of advice you give are so powerful!! The way you guys stayed together, praying and praising God for all the ups and the downs, have encouraged me, along with thousands of others. Tonya, one mother to another, your strength was totalling amazing. The love for both of your children just radiates off of your face. I just hope and pray that I can be the mother to Caden that you have been to your children during this time. Your entire family is in my prayers and I rejoice in the knowledge and promise that one day you will be a family together again, in the streets of heaven. I love you all, and thank you for the testimony that you have shown. Lauren Anderson <laurenleigh27@yahoo.com> Hohenwald, Tn - Tuesday, May 2, 2006 7:58 PM CDT My sorry to hear about your son. You guys have inspired me the way that you have handled things! Brenda Myers Murfreesboro, TN USA - Saturday, April 29, 2006 5:02 PM CDT Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. James,Beth & Jaylon Howard <mbhoward@mrhs.com> Hohenwald , TN US - Saturday, April 29, 2006 4:13 PM CDT Words can not truly express how much we admire you. You kept your faith and hope in God, when many of us would have just given up. The strength that you have shown over this past year made us reflect on how important it is to make sure that our children know how much we love them. Your son was such a remarkable person and has touched our lives very deeply. If only everyone of this earth could be like him our world would be such a better place. In the short time he was on this earth he showed a lot of us how to live our lives as a good Christian person, I know you are both very proud of what a remarkable person Kainen was. We will continue to pray for both of you, little Kailee and your entire family. Just reading the last journal entry made me reflect on my own life more than ever. I've found an inner flame I had forgotten about. THANK YOU for sharing Kainen's life and your faith with us. Blake (who is 6) has talked about Kainen and where he is for the majority of this week. We went to the grave and Blake loved the fishing reel. He had a hard time understanding how Kainen used the tree branch for a rod. I'll explain that to him another day :) I know Blake will never forget how someone as young as Kainen can make a difference. We will think of you all and pray for you all daily. Please know you have made a difference in my family's life. WE LOVE YOU ALL! A very special thanks for allowing us to be apart of his life and your family. As I have told you both, that little angel was very blessed to have in my opinion the most wonderful parents a child could have. (Kailee is blessed) Kainen was a very special little boy that was blessed to have parents that had strength, courage, faith, and the love to show him how to live life and how to love. I know he has changed many young peoples lifes, Kainen has taught them how to never give up, not to complain, and enjoy every minute of time they have here on earth. Tonya, you and Jonah have taught them how to be good parents, and to never lose faith that all things are possible. And that God is important. You have touched our hearts and touched a special place in my sons heart. I think of you daily and hope that with time the pain in your hearts will lessen. My thoughts and prayers are still with you all. If you every need anything do not hesitate, let us know.
