Journal

Hello All,

It has been a busy month with seven doctor appointments for Joshua.

Joshua now sees his endocrinologist in Franklin. This saves on gas and time driving back and forth to Vanderbilt.

Joshua saw the heart doctor who gave us a good report, saying Joshua’s heart is well within the ‘beating’ limits of any male his age. So, whatever they saw on the heart ultrasound in September is not a concern. The heart doctor even took special blood work for the heart and it came back normal. I was so excited I just had to dance in my heart with happiness.

We still have to see the neuropathy doctor at Vanderbilt because there aren’t any in
Franklin. He was very pleased with Joshua’s appearance. He said he had not seen Joshua in such good spirits and smiling so much. He can see the new medicine Suboxone helps Joshua better than the methadone. He had never heard of Suboxone prior to us and was so happy for Joshua. Joshua and Dr. Donofrio decided to try to lower the dosage of Lyrica from 300 mg 2 x daily (an extremely high dose) to 225 mg 2 times daily. We will see how that works. We have tried it before without success. We are hoping with the new medicine Suboxone, it’ll work this time.

The colonoscopy had one polyp with Crohns and ulcerative colitis, which the doctor removed. Because of this polyp, Joshua’s history with Crohns and Joshua being diagnosed with IBS, he was given a new medicine (sigh) Lialda used to treat the inflammation, which left unchecked can cause colon cancer. He needs to get a colonoscopy every two years to make sure all is well.

The last test he needs for a while is the lung testing. This Wednesday November 7th, he goes in Vanderbilt for a chest x-ray and more involved breathing tests with a new lung doctor. As I said in the last journal, I am praying the reason his breathing was not good last time was because he was not feeling well. Please join us in praying for an excellent report.

The Lord’s joy is our strength,
Love, Leslie and family
