This website has been created to help Bethany's family and friends keep up with how she is doing daily. Bethany is 10 years old and has Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis and fibromyalgia. On March 4, Bethany's doctors told us they are sure that Bethany has lupus as well. On March 30, Bethany was diagnosed with Epilepsy as well. Bethany was diagnosed with JRA when she was 6 years old after many long months of testing and pulling out our hair. If you are the parent of a child with an illness that doctors just can't seem to diagnose, please read Bethany's story in the first journal entry. Bethany is a very strong child who has been through a lot. After a couple of years of doing really well, Bethany is having a really rough time right now. Check back for updates, and PLEASE sign our guestbook so Bethany will know you stopped by to check on her. She gets down a lot because she feels like she is not normal like other kids. It's hard for some people to understand what she is going through because you can't "see" auto immune disorders. As you can tell by her pictures, she doesn't look sick. For all parents of sick children, and to the children as well, "HANG IN THERE"! God still gives miracles everyday. Today might be the day you get yours. Love, Michelle (Bethany's Mom)

Thursday, July 2, 2009 10:03 PM CDT Wanted to stop by and wish you all a very Happy 4th of July. Yes, Ms. Lu, Lord willing Bethany will be celebrating 4th of July this year instead of laying in the bed. I just reread our last update. Things are still going well, but have definately been hectic since then. Bethany really just completely overdid it, and has now kind of crashed. She was just running on adreneline I guess and not resting and taking it easy. She has been not doing much for a very long time, and went into complete overdrive and truly did over do it. She has been seizuring some lately, and just worn out. So, we are now working really hard to help her find a "happy medium" with her life. Please pray that she does not become discouraged and unhappy that she is not able to go at the levels of other teenagers. She has done really well accepting her health issues up to this point. I knew one day she would begin to have anger, or frustration over not being what you would call "normal" and I believe that time has really come. She is having a lot of anger issues and is just a truly hormonal teenager right now. She is having a lot of feelings that she really just doesn't know how to deal with. And she went from feeling so bad to so good, and I believe she thought she was never going to be sick again, and that her life had completely changed forever. And instead of appreciating how much better she is feeling than before right now, she is very frustrated she is not doing as well as she was when she first began the vitamin d. And I know she will overcome this. She is a very strong person, and will overcome this too. Please keep her in your prayers as she does learn to find a happy medium in her life. The boyfriend thing didn't work out either, and that was disappointing for her too. She did really well with the breakup, didn't cry or anything, but she really had taken it very seriously about deciding to like someone. She is very serious about not wanting to have a lot of different boyfriends, and of course most teenagers are not feeling that way. We are still hopeful she will get to go back to school in the fall. We are working towards helping her get strong enough for school now, working on getting up on a routine, going to bed on a routine, going over some of the work she did last year to try to get her brain working again, those type things. Her body just goes into a panic once she begins public school and the stress just takes all the strength out of her. So pray we are able to help strengthen her body. I'm really hoping she gets all this emotional stress under control so she is not having to deal with both types of stress at that time. And just to update so you will know how to best pray for us... My GI problems have become serious. My large intestines have a great deal of nerve damage. I spent 6 days in the hospital, and was actually in there the week before Vacation Bible School and Fathers Day. I had a knot in my intestines and at one time, thought I was going to have to have surgery to remove it. My bowels completely locked up, and they that is the most pain I have ever experienced in my life. Back to my health, I did have a knot in my intestines and after many prayers from all over the US, the knot disappeared without any help from the doctors, nothing medical was done. God did it all. I do have a lot to still overcome with so much nerve damage there, but I trust God to help get me through this. I go back to the dr on July 16th, and they will talk to me at that time about what my options are. I am not ready to get a colonoscomy bag which will be the end result. I would like to ask each of you to pray that it will not come to that. I am taking medication 3 times a day right now to help wake things up, and we are praying this will continue to work and nothing more will have to be done. One more prayer request..... Please continue to pray for Gregg to get a job!!! He needs something so badly!!! Sorry for the long update, and I wish it had been better news. We are still very thankful for everything, and for any improvements in our health. And I hope noone thinks that Bethany is not thankful for the improvements. She is just a typical teenager.
We love you all and are so grateful for your prayers!!! God Bless You, Michelle (Bethany's Mom)
