Welcome to Alex's little corner of the world. Please pull up a chair and witness his incredible strength, and we will supply you with tales of this amazing boy's life fighting medulloblastoma, a form of a malignant brain cancer.
On 25 Apr 04, Alex was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Fortunately we were told of a specialist, Dr. Albert Telfeian, who had recently moved to Lubbock, TX. Dr. Telfeian agreed to treat Alex, and thus he was rushed to Lubbock on the morning of the 26th. On 28 Apr 04 surgery was preformed to remove Alex's tumor. Before the surgery, we were all told that because of the way the tumor was situated within the back of his brain, removing all of it would not be possible. However, within the first few minutes of the surgery, we were told that 90% of the tumor literally fell out, with the rest being removed over the course of the next 3 hours. An MRI the following day confirmed what the surgeon told us after the surgery…the entire tumor had been successfully removed.
We have been back in Charlotte for roughly six months now, and things are still going great with Alex. All his visits to St. Jude have proven that Alex remains cancer free. We truly have no words to describe just how that feels for us, and thankful just doesn't seem to do our feelings justice. Thank God for all our friends and family out there who continue to pray for Alex, as we firmly believe that is one of the reasons he is doing so well. That, and the fact that he is just one tough little man, both mentally and physically..

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the LORD. Across the sky flashed scenes of his life. For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand; one belonging to him, and the other to the LORD.
When the last scene of his life flashed before him, be looked back at the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times of his life.
This really bothered him and he questioned the LORD about it. "LORD, you said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints; I don't understand why when I needed you most you would leave me."
The LORD replied, "My precious, precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you."
I just wanted to report that we just came back from Memphis last Friday and all scans continue to be clean and clear!!! God is Great!!!!!
On that note, I also learned that we have just a small bump and I will take it, but Alex will have to begin the growth hormone shots. Apparently his body is barely making anything. So just a small hurdle but with all the continued prayers and with the help of the Lord on our side we will get through this.
Alex continues to do well as well as Gabby. They are both so intelligent and bright and grown up its kinda crazy. Thanks to you all who continue to check in on us I really do appreciate it!!!
Much love and prayers to you all!!!
Vanessa
P.S. I have posted some new pictures, hope you all enjoy!!!!
