One out of every 330 children will get cancer before age 20.
On average 46 children (2 classrooms) are diagnosed with cancer each day in the United States.
Despite major treatment advances for most childhood cancers, improved treatment of alveolar
rhabdomyosarcoma has lagged. The statistics for survival
of metastatic rhabdomyosarcoma are dismal.
We need to find new treatment methods if we are going to start saving these children.
Although the 5 year survival rate is steadily increasing, one quarter of children will
die 5 years from the time of diagnosis.

Alveolar Rhabdo is HORRIBLE and AGGRESSIVE and just plain MEAN!
It's considered the worst childhood cancer of all of them out there and Tyler and your family are
incredibly strong people and FIGHTERS!!!!! Keep those boxing gloves on and never give up
hope or faith! Tyler is incredible! How that young boy endures all those
surgeries and fighting Stage 4 Alveolor Rhabdo
is BEYOND amazing.

Hug your children,tell them you love them every chance you get.
Remember that children are a gift that is given to us and we need to

A PRAYER FOR TYLER Jan 5 2007

Dear Lord I ask that You place Your healing hands upon sweet Tyler & help him get rid of any sickness his little body is fighting right now. Please Lord he needs You so much right now. Send down a few extra angels to make sure he is protected from anything that might jeopardize his full recovery. He is fighting so hard Lord & I know only You really know the true extent of it but I have so much faith that You will come through for him. Please Lord I am begging along with so many others for a miracle with little Tyler's name on it. I know only You have the power to give this little boy back his life Dear Lord & I am asking You to do just that. Let him be healed & give him the chance to lead a healthy, long life. Dear Lord he has already suffered so much & I just pray that You keep the cancer in remission & show the drs that miracles are real & they happen everyday to sweet boys like Tyler. Please Lord give Tyler a chance to spread the word about miracles from Heaven & give him a chance at a real life. Only You can give him this gift. In Jesus' name i pray,

At Christmas, just after Tyler turned two he fell on a small toy car and scratched his jaw. The jaw swelled and by New Years Day we had to take him to the hospital. The hospital staff said that Tyler needed surgery to remove a cist. Doctor Wilson did the surgery and came out with tears in his eyes. He said that the problem was not a cist, it is cancer and that he sent a portion of the extracted material to the lab to have it analyzed. The results came back as Rhabdomyosarcoma of the Mandible. When the results arrived, January 30, we were called to his office and he cried with us. Tyler was admitted to MUSC immediately. We felt this couldn't be happening to our baby not Tyler. The staff at MUSC has been wonderful and we were like family. We learned to love everyone there. Tyler has stolen the heart of everyone on Floor 7b.
Tyler was having trouble breathing because of his jaw so the Doctor's decided a tracheotomy was needed. At the same time, Tyler's jaw fell so the medical staff had to wire the jaw shut. Then he couldn't keep feeding tubs in forcing them to replace the tube six times.
After radiation and chemo Tyler underwent surgery again where they took a bone from Tyler's leg and transplanted it into the jaw. Shortly thereafter it was diagnosed that the cancer have moved to his lungs. Both lungs were infected. Tyler lost the upper right portion of the right lung and chemo seemed to clear up the left lung, as a result of this surgery a chest tub was inserted. Tyler was so strong that he went walking down the hall with that chest tub. Doctor York said she wants a picture of Tyler to go over her desk. She said that he was the strongest kid that she had ever seen and that he was her miracle baby.
It has been really hard on our family. Ashley only twenty three and can't work and Tyler in and out of doctor offices and all the trips then and now. But God has been with us and he has got us this far. Tyler had four staff infections while he was in the hospital, which encompassed most of 2003. We took a camper and stayed in it at Lake Air campground so we could be with Tyler and Ashley.


Tyler is now in remission. This doesn't mean he is cured or better in anyway.

Sadly The cancer has done so much damage to Tylers little body.

He has been through 26 surgeries. We will have to take him to MUSC for his entire life. He will spend his entire life going through this he will never be 100% better as the doctors told us. He has had a lung removed, and 1/2 of his leg bone tooken out to replace his jaw. Now his jaw replacement isn't working with the leg bone so they have to fix that soon. Not only this he tends to get sick often. He won't be able to do things like normal kids cause of these things. We also have been told he won't eat like other kids, and maybe never able to have a baby when he is older.

The cancer he had isn't like most common cancers we have only found 5-6 other kids (This isn't 100% accurate, but the amount is very small in the USA we are just going on what we have found on the net.) Alot of them have had it come back or passed away from it sadly . Tyler wasn't suppose to live is what the doctors told us. We are very lucky to have him I know he is gonna make it!!!!!!


The chance of Tyler's cancer coming back is very high, but we think he will be fine cause we are trying so hard to get so much support for him, and having the whole world caring about him. We have hope, and Tyler is a warrior!

Hi
Not a lot to tell things are about the same with Tyler.School started and he went two days, all ready had to be out Tyler and Jayden both have strep.was taken to the doctor yesterday.Guess Nathan will have it.
Tyler only has a few teeth and he will be getting two of those out on 9-17-08.Poor boy don't know how hes going to eat.
Still waiting for medicate to aprove Tyler being sent to Dallas Texas to see if the doctors there can help him.The hospital in Charleston is working own that.Don't know how he will get there but its all in gods hands.
Tyler's little jaw hurts him and his legs.Pease keep praying for Tyler.We are having his yard sale and hot dog sale Sept 6th.Trying to raise a little money for Tyler's medical expense and travel.Yard sale will be at our church.New life baptist,Things are going pretty good with getting yard sale donations.people are all so willing to help with the sale.
I want to thank each of you for your kindness most of all your prayers Its not over for Tyler he still has so much wrong with him.He has a long way to go.God has been with us.I went to some of the sick children's web page and I cried sitting at my computer.Theres so many of them.They go through hell and so do there families.Some don't even have there baby's any more.I say a prayer daily for all the kids.
God has been so good to us hes a wonderful god and hes been with this family all the way.I praise him and thank him with all my heart.I thank him for all of you ,That you all love Tyler and care so much

we are going to have a yard sale and hot dog sale for tyler at new life baptist church sep-6th.

Well things have been getting pretty bad for Tyler here recently. I've seen his face quite a few times now, and it looks worst, and worst everyday. It breaks your heart to see that jaw bone fail. So all the things the doctors have done to his face have failed we appreciated what they have done for Tyler, but we have decided to take a 2nd opinion on his facial reconstruction due to the doctors saying there isn't much else they can try now. We don't even know where to start we are trying to find a good doctor to do this for Tyler, but we just don't the money to just take him where ever. We can hardly get him to MUSC with the gas prices the way they are right now. It can cost nearly $200-300 just to get there, and back if we have to stay over night we must find a way to raise money, cause our last Church auction we got around $1,000 raised, but that's been gone for a long time now. We really want to thank everyone that is helping financially, and emotionally without it we'd be lost. Recently we got a donation of $200.00, I wanted to publicly thank the person we really appreciate every penny we get.

We dread him having to go to school with the facial problems, cause now that Tyler is older it hurts his feelings when things are said about it. He seems to understand things are not the same for him now. With all the support, and prayers I hope Tyler will hold his head up high, and be proud for the hero he is, cause so many people care for him.

If you have any suggestion or just want to show some support please speak up we appreciate it. Suggestion to good doctors would also be helpful if their expertise can help Tyler in anyway.

We are back at home tylers surgery is over .hes doing ok .We will return to charleston to see dr oneal on the 14th
about tylers jaw we are praying that they refur him to a nother hospital.

Just got a call from musc.Tyler's surgery is tomorrow at 1230 then we get a call from Dr oneal saying he needs to see Tyler on the 14th at 4.I tried to get them to do the surgery on the 14th but was told that it had to be done right away and to have him there tomorrow.Boy this is really hard gas is soo high .We have been to Charleston three weeks in a row when we make next weeks trip.Please pray for our finances that we will be able to take Tyler to the appointments he needs . WE ARE BROKE.BUT LIKE ALWAYS I HAVE PUT IT IN GODS HANDS THIS IS STRESSFUL,EMOTIONALLY,FINANCIALLY
the bone in Tylers face must be all the way dead.The metal plate is now sticking out all most through the skin if he would fall on it it would really be bad .THIS IS SOOO SAD

Hi everyone .
Well there just seems to be know end,
We just got back from musc hospital with Tyler seeing doc -white.Well your not going to belive this one.when he did the ear surgery he packed Tyler's head and ear with packing.They can not get it out so we have to go back up there Tuesday the 5th for more surgery.They have to put him to sleep cut it back open and take the packing out.You would think that they think we live next door to the hospital.They keep saying it needs to be done at musc.It cost a hundred dollars for gas Fri and now we have to go back Tuesday.Am broke and don't really know what we are going to do.I will Contac the social worker and ask for help but she don't act like she wants to help us any more,I guess Tyler's just old news. I feel so sorry for Tyler.
There are a couple of hospitals that want to see Tyler AM trying to get the letter from doctor Oneal saying that he don't know what else to do to help Tyler.and get them to refer that Tyler go to one of these hospitals.I still wouldn't know how to get him there.our money is gone once again.Its all in gods hand.please ask god to help Tyler.AM faired that Tyler's going to have a life time of suffering.Please sign Tyler's page we still count it as a prayer for Tyler and our family

Hi everyone .
Well the bone in Tyler's jaw has died we are all the way back to where he was before the surgery.the doctors don't know what to do for him we are going to get a letter saying they don't know how to help Tyler and try to find him some one that can .his little jaw on one side looks like a two year olds jaw starting to look really bad.but he will always be beautiful in my eyes.
We need a Miracle for Tyler.this means he went through both jaw replacements and the felbia being taken from his legs for nothing.ever
Thing they tried has failed.I think that the doctors really were trying to help Tyler but he was mutilated.his neck and legs looking really bad.Scars all over his body.Its all in gods hands.Please keep praying for tyty.

passed away on the 18th .Having viewing at our church new life bap
tonight at six.She was loved and will really be missed.Its not really Tylers grandma they just called her that shes been my best friend for thirty four years

Hi everyone
Well things here have been rough .Not with Tyler just other things happen .my best friend for thirty four years Is is in the hospital and the doctors say she want be coming home she own life support she needs a miracle .aim really hurting.I know she will be in a better place .she just turned sixty. Please say a pray for her her names Martha.Tyler wanted to know why they was taken his granny Martha and why they were putting a tube in her mouth..we told him she could breath good and that was why they were putting a tub in her .He looks at me and says nanny if she goes to heaven you know she will have wings don't you don't worry .Then he thinks a min and says nanny just go bring her home I had a tube and you brought me home .He thanks she has a trach like he had.
As far as the rest of us were ok .Tyler'S bone in his jaw is dieing fast his side of his face looks like it shrunk looks back the size of a two year old again .Tyler'S jaw has been hurting.They say theres nothing left.That they don't know how to fix it .Yes we have ask about plastic or some thing that would work other than his body parts I even wanted to give him parts from me . They say it will not work.Tyler's face is starting to look bad again own that side And hurts.The last two surgeries have failed.I have tried to Contac the doctors in Fla but haven't heard back from them yet.Also Tyler's little mouth hurts when he tries to eat . We have gotten him to start eating a few more things.He decided that he likes spaghetti,
He also tried corn but he only will eat it own the cob .With only about five or six teeth that's hard for him to do.But he tries .Then cry'S because his mouth hurts .Tyler still cries with his legs hurting and even falls because they are weak .please keep praying for Tyler and us .
I want to thank Steven for replacing Tyler's x box 360 .He was lost with out that .Steven Tyler loves you so much .
