My beautiful daughter, Ruby was born on 11/21/04. She had the biggest blue eyes & a head full of dark hair. She was fussy alot & almost never slept. She would only sleep on my or her daddy's chest. At 3 weeks of age, she was diagnosed with Hydrocephalus but no tumor was found then. At 6 weeks of age she stopped moving her right leg. Finally when she was 7 weeks old & after too many tests & procedures to mention, she was diagnosed with Rhabdoid Tumor of the Kidneys stage V. It had already spread to all of her organs, spine & some of her bones. It was in her hip which is why she wasn't moving her leg. She was in terrible pain. They started a Morphine pump & chemo. They gave us little hope. When she was 10 weeks old, we noticed one of her eyes drooped & the other one bulged & they both wandered. That's when they discovered the cancer had spread to her brain despite the chemo she was getting. At that point on Feb. 11, 2005 we took her home on Hospice. She died in my arms on the morning of Feb. 17, 2005. I am still in disbelief. How could my baby be gone in just 3 short months. We didn't even have time to get used to being parents before she got sick. Then we hardly had time to accept that she had cancer before she passed away. I pray for all the parents and children who are battling this cancer. I pray that someone comes up with better treatment soon.
