An invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet, regardless of time, place, or circumstance. The thread may stretch or tangle, but will never break

A girl named Kaylyn
Is both beautiful and sweet
Has gorgeous eyes
A pretty smile
And touches everyone she meets

The strongest oak tree of the forest is not the one that is protected from the storm and hidden from the sun. It's the one that stands in the open where it is compelled to struggle for its existance against the winds and the rains and the scorching sun.
-Napoleon Hill

Kaylyn is a spunky 5 year old who was originally diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor in November 2002. A rare aggressive cancer, Grade 3 Anaplastic Ependymoma. She has had two surgeries and five rounds of Chemotherapy. Then in June of 2003 she had a Stem Cell Transplant at MUSC in Charleston. The Tumor was gone and we were praying it would NEVER EVER come back. Much to our surprise, our worst fears came true, after a year of being Cancer free, on September 1st, 2004 she had her 3rd Brain Surgery to remove the dime size tumor that had grown back. The surgery was successful! November/December 2004 she completed 6 weeks of Proton Beam Radiation therapy at Mass. General Hospital in Boston. Doctors hope the radiation will help decrease the chances of relapsing again.

I prayed for this child, and the LORD has granted me what I asked of him (1 Samuel 1:27)

Journal

Wow it has been quite some time since I've updated here! A lot has changed in this time. If you've never read our page, or if you're continuing to stay updated, my name is Erin and I'm Kaylyn's sister. Kaylyn now has a baby nephew! Adrian (my son) was born March 2006 and she is just completely in love with him. As far as her cancer goes, she's still going strong, completely cancer free! YEAH! About 3 years now. She still has MRI's periodically but all have come back clear.

Unfortunately this past November 2007 our Mother was diagnosed with Breast Cancer, she had found a lump and the Dr. found 2 more. It had gone into her lymph nodes under her arm. December 5th she had to have a masectomy and is now having chemo treatments. CANCER SUCKS! Overall she's doing quite well. Her hair hasn't started to fall out yet but will be in the near future. Being at the hospital for her surgery brought back so many memories, sitting in the same waiting room where we waited for Kaylyn. It was strange because this time Kaylyn sat in the waiting room with us, there were Nurses who came up to say hello that haven't seen her since she was sick. All of these same people know my Mother as well, now the tables have turned. We'll be alright! God hasn't failed us!
