I'm a 56 year old woman who has been going through a hard recovery from a diverticulitis attack that hit me near the end of September 2016. With my sister Lisa's help, I'm going to write what happened to me here in the hopes it will help someone who is going through this too. One of my biggest fears stemmed from not knowing what was going to happen, if what was happening was normal, and what to expect. There hasn't been much patient input about it on the net, not like my case, anyway, but I figure as hard and disgusting as it has been, maybe sheer embarrassment has kept others like me from openly discussing it. If you're out there, terrified, going through this, my heart aches for you. I almost died. Without my family's help, particularly my Mom's resolve, I would have died. You have to be strong and actively fight this, even long past when you really want to quit. I have gotten much better, but almost a year later, I still have a long way to go. Don't give up, if I can do this, you can do it! God bless you!
