My “Easter Bunny” went off to the shop,
He bought me an egg and lots of chocs
And packed them into a cardboard box.
Then he wrapped it with paper and shiny string
It really was such a pretty thing.
Disaster struck when I opened the door-
He slid across the parquet floor,
He went round the corner and past the stairs
And finished up in a pile of chairs.
Of the Easter goodies not a trace,
he’d thrown them into my fireplace!
So a warning before you go opening doors

I found little your little girls webpage by accident.But I am going to be checking in to see how everything goes.Your little girl is going to be one more sweet little child that I put on my prayer list.My little girl had a stem cell transplant in Wisconson at Childrens Hospital and we live in West Virginia.She was first dxed with ITP but later on found out after a BMA that she had SAA(Severe Aplastic Anemia)I will keep you and you sweet little girl in my prayers.

Wow...an update! I was beginning to get worried. I am glad that the delay is not due to Susannah's health, but am sorry that it was caused by a flood. I was hoping to see you when you came back to Minneapolis, but it doesn't look like that will be possible. We are scheduled (finally!) to leave here on the 2nd of July. Wow! Just got done reading ALL the updates and even though we've "chatted" online, I can't believe how much news I've missed! First, my condolences on the loss of your grandmother. What a long life she had and I know you will keep her memory alive for the girls.
I LOVE all the new pics! Miss Sis is as cute as a button and Miss Madeline couldn't be prettier! Her tea party looked like the best time! Yes, one of these years all of us "April birthdays" are going to celebrate together!
So glad the end result of Sis's IEP is full of wonderful opportunities for her. Kudos to you, mom and dad, I know how hard you've pushed for what is best for your little girl! She sounds like she is doing absolutely wonderfully and continuing to advance at her own steady pace...what a blessing! As long as you can continue that steroid taper it is all very exciting! Your stories of how Madeline comes to her defense is so endearing! What a great couple of kids! You must be so proud! I must say, I'm a bit envious after listening to my two bicker for an hour in the car today. AAAGGGHHHH! Your sweet girls put my kids to shame!

Hi Amy and all!!!! I have not been on this computer in almost a week so I missed an opportunity to send Amy and Madeline their birthday wishes also! I hope you both had great birthdays! I'm sure Sis had a great one too!!! We are still in FL but we leave on Saturday and the time went by way too fast! My birthday was great also. Jeff gave me a certificate to drive a race car at Richard Petty's Driving Experience. I've always wanted to do that! It was absolutely a thrilling experience. I drove the car all by myself (good thing I've had some past experience with stick shift) and my top speed was 117mph. I could have gone faster but felt comfortable at that speed. I know, I know...I'm getting nuttier the older I get! Hope everyone is well and I hope to catch you online soon!

Thanks for the wonderful update... I've been really good at losing touch with everyone, but I love you guys more then ever. Yeah! An update! Woo Hoo...I can just picture Little Miss Sis on that trike! Way to go, girl! Not to mention Miss Mad actually riding her bike with no training wheels! Look out...car driving is not that far off! You'll be surprised how fast that comes!
Great news on continuing steroid taper. My fingers are crossed that she can manage that without having to tweek it back again!

I couldn't believe my eyes to be reading another update and new pictures all in one month! I just put that adorable picture of Susannah and I kissing into a frame--it makes me smile every day! Amy, you do such a great job of writing stories that make us all feel like we are there with you. So glad that everyone is home for the holidays and healthy!! We did good over the holidays and it looks like austin wants to keep me on my toes, he has had a constant cough for like 6 weeks and woke on thurs am with a fever,earache and worse cough, needless to say a trip to the dr and he has a ear infection and a sinus infection!
I guess I shouldnt complain though, this is really the first time he has been sick since transplant, thats been 18 mths!!! So hopefully a couple of days and he will be back to normal!!

Today is the first day I have come across your website. I don't know how that is possible as I spent months looking for other families like ours a couple of years ago. My son, Cameron Winn, was diagnosed with Hurler Syndrome in 2000, with his initial evaluations beginning that August at age 11 months. It took lots of fighting and almost a year to get him to transplant, which he finally underwent in August 2001. He died on transplant day +16 of a massive heart attack, on August 18, 2001.

As I went back to your first journal entry, I relived many of the same thoughts, questions and emotions that you are faced with in the beginning days of such a life-changing situation. I remembered that fear of not knowing exactly what we were dealing with, or if my son would live or die. I always seemed to come across more bad news than good news as I researched this terribe disease.

I knew before my son was born that there was something different about him. I contributed that mostly to the fact that he was a boy and that it had been 6 years since my daughter was born! Still, when he was born, I had this real sense of knowing that he was special; I just didn't know how right I was until much later. When he started getting different illnesses (with his ears and upper respiratory tract, mainly) I knew that something was not quite right but I couldn't put my finger on it. I suppose now, looking back, that it was God's way of subliminally preparing me for the months to come. How I wish I had found your website way back then! You have so many details in your entries that I so wanted to hear, most of which we experienced first-hand after a while.

I have managed to make contact with many other families, some who still have their children and some who do not - but no matter which circumstance I always feel a closeness that doesn't exist with everyone else. There is a bond there that can only be explained through these children of ours who have touched so many lives. After my son's death I lost contact with many of those families, as often times it just hurt too much to look at the pictures or hear the stories. Now I have slowly gotten back into the circle, trying to stay informed of these kids' progress and offering my prayers and support to them and their families. I suppose God intended that for me when Cameron came into my life, and I know that my son lives on through me because of that.

It is wonderful to see a happy ending, or at least a happy beginning, depending on your perspective! I think your family is very blessed and I hope and pray for the very best for you all.

First, I love all the new pictures! The girls are so beautiful! Second, I hope you had a great Christmas celebrating with your family. I'm sure Madeline was the most adorable sheep in the pageant! I had to laugh, as the scenario was so familiar to me as my own 8 year old nephew "pouted" through his pageant because he wanted to be Joseph. Instead, he was cast as part of the STABLE..of all things! So, tell Madeline she got a really good deal...a cute sheep definitely beats a hunk of wood!!! I laughed so hard watching the video of his "performance"...what a grouchy face!

Hi guys! Sounds like you had a great Thanksgiving and I'm glad Klane was there for most of it! Madeline, you must have talked to my mom, because when we got to her house she had the dining room table set up in her living room in front of her fireplace too! She never did that before! I love the cornucopia idea with the Bugles and Trix! And Susannah was such a big girl at the table with no highchair! So much to be thankful for indeed! Don't forget Susannah has a bit of history with those first Pilgrims. I went to Plymouth, MA last year and was admiring a very old baby cradle in the museum. It had belonged to the very first Pilgim baby born in this land...a baby girl named "Susanna White"!

I'm so sorry to hear about Christina's death but yet rejoice in what sounds like an amazing angel. Your tribute to her was very touching and really showed a girl with an inspirational spirit, much like the one I see in Susannah. It seems so cliche to say, but Susannah has taught me a lot about life and how to live it. Even though she can not talk her actions, smiles, and will to fight is an inspiration every day. Dear Amy,
You don't know how saddened I am right now to hear of Christina's passing. Your words of tribute to her leaves no doubt in the reader's mind what a phenomenal spirit and blessing she was in your lives. My heart aches for her loving parents and older sister to have to endure such a loss. She made a mark in this world, one that will benefit many after her. I am so sorry for your pain of such a sudden loss in your lives. You know very well that I believe she will indeed accompany Susannah when she is finally able to visit Sea World. So I heard bits and pieces of all this good news when you were here, but to see it all put together is amazing! Susannah is one of a kind, as is her great family. How could Susannah not have a great heart after all she has pulled through--what a great relief to see how well it is doing. I just knew it! I knew the waiting was worth the FANTASTIC news you were preparing to deliver! I just don't know what to say! I'm speechless...the awesomeness of all of Susannah's improvements since transplant #2 just gives me the chills! She is God's little miracle and proof that with prayer and faith anything is possible! She continues to defy odds and give all the medical community food for thought when it comes to prognastication for these children. Susannah has given all Hurler families the HOPE they so desperately need to witness. Though there are still some lingering issues yet to deal with, I have no doubt that she will overcome these with the same miraculous interventions.
Today, because of you Susannah, I am going to smile brighter and walk lighter. You have renewed my faith...you have rejuvenated my belief that we must trust God and not be anxious or worry about our tomorrows. God will take care of our tomorrows too.

Hope all is well back in sunny San Diego. The temperature hasn't got above 40 since you left and we have been getting snow! I just want to say again how great it was to see you! Your girls bring me smiles when I think of them but it is so good to see them in person! Susannah's personality is one of a kind and I'm so impressed with her signing and words. Dear Klane, Amy, and girls, It was great to get all caught up with your exciting happenings. The new web sight is wonderful and so easy for a novice like myself to use. Nick Beach went to Kindergarten as well, Allison is in the 4th grade and her second year of softball as well as soccer, Jim is her coach, we had to learn soccer etiquette (sp) as well as rules, being we are a football geared family, Mark is 4 and in pre school and Kevin is 2 an into everything. It is just great to continue to hear about Susannah's improvements. Hopefully she will be able to start tapering off those steroids so she can grow, grow, grow! I bet her hair is just darling! (I think that scanner needs to be fixed quickly so all her "cyber friends" can see the new do :) I can't believe Madeline will be starting school this year! Great news on the platelets!! Austin topped 235,000 last month, i think I almost went into shock!!!!
But he is about 200,000 now, and staying there so that is great for us!!!
we also just got back his 1 yr results back, check out his site for the numbers, VERY IMPRESSIVE!!!! we are just waiting on his immune functions to come back and they said we should be starting his immunizations in about 4 weeks!
I cant believe it!!!

Dear Amy, you are absolutely the most incredible daughter a Mom could ask for and I am amazed at the strenth and courage your have demonstrated for your two beautiful daughters, as well as your Klane. I will never forget when Klane told me we would not have Susannah today if you had not fought so hard to give her that chance. I remember when Klane also told me you were going to go through the bone marrow treatments so that you could buy some time for Susannah until maybe there would be gene therapy to help. Today when I read about the kids in France having a chance because there gene terapy seems to be successful it made me think how wise you all have been. I know that this may not ever help the Hurler babies we have now but maybe one day this could help other kids.
I don't think anyone realizes the sacrafices you have had to make these past two years, but know in your heart you are so much more blessed because of them. We have all tried to help, but the burden you have to bare is one only a truly remarkable mother could shoulder and I rejoice that you were chosen because, I know you have the love and
strength to do the best job possible.Yesterday was your 33rd bitehday and I am sure it felt different than when you were a little girl with a birthday but the job you have done with Susannah and Madeline must be the best birthday present there is. Know that I love you dearly and when the burden does get too heavy turn to those who love you and let them know and maybe we can lighten that load a little.

My name is Jackie Teichmann, Susannah's Grammy, and and I would like to thank each and every person who has shared in her journey and for your loving support of the White Family. A special prayer of love to the Wiggens family.My love for Susannah helps me understand better.
I would like to share with Amy, Klane, Madeline and Susannah some of my feelings of the past 2 years. I have never exereienced as much grief and sorrow as I did when Susannah was diagnosed and at times during her journey. This took me a back some, but having shared so much with the White family I have come to understand. I now know that God has a clear purpose and plan for Susannah.I can't tell you the complete plan now, because it is still happening, but equal to the grief I felt I have experienced an unconditional love and compassion deeper than I have ever felt and I can say that I see this in everyone who has joined her journey. I have come to realize you can't question why this has to happen, but treasure every moment of life that Susannh shares with with us. Last week when she had brought a book to me, crawled up in my lap for me to read to her and then did this three more times, I realized she loves her life just as it is and does not harbor anything other than joy and on her terms.
Because of all that has happened, I have had the opportunity to share in Amy, Klane and Madelines life more. Yes, Madeline, I am still terrified to take that dumb log ride at Camp Snoopy and even though you say you will take care of me I am still scared of it. The are many things I got to share with Madeline that most Grammy's don't ever get the chance and I got to share many special moments with all of the Whites. Thank you Susannah, Amy, Klane and Madeline for making my life more meaningful.

Susannah Jacqueline White, Welcome Home! Poppy and I feel that we are blessed to have such a spunky youngest grandaughter. When you got off the airplane we saw your eyes twinkling from above your mask and knew you were really back. You are the only little girl I know that can smile with your eyes. Your mommy and daddy have done a great job with you and your sister Madeline. Both of you are such a joy to be around. Madeline, who fell asleep in the restaurant Saturday night, woke me up at about three AM to announce that she wanted Poppy and I to take her to Matsu for her birthday. She had a great time, but was exhausted from playing with her cousin, Nick. I can't wait until Madeline can come again and play with her cousins and when Susannah can come too.
We love all of you Whites and are grateful you are finally home and have your family together again.
