Justina's Corner on the Web

Thank you for visiting Justina's updates. We greatly appreciate your interest and hope that you'll keep her in your thoughts and prayers. Justina underwent a stem cell transplant to help cure an autoimmune disease caused by a cancer called neuroblastoma. The autoimmune disease is called opsoclonus-myoclonus syndrome.

Justina turned 10 today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've been horrible with updates and so many changes have happened. First off, we are back in California for good. We moved back home in Dec. 2004. It's been rocky getting Justina's medical stuff set back up. It seems to be an never ending waiting game. WAiting for records, waiting for reports, waiting for return phone calls, waiting for appointments, approvals, this, that and whatever.
I won't go into a long detail of her medical stuff. Basically, she's doing pretty good. A behavior mess with chronic pain but, not confronted with major medical scares. Which seems to have always been the par for course for us.
We are waiting to get into the long term clinic at CHLA which will spin us out to specialties. For the time being we are working on getting through each day with her behavior.
We're moving into our own place in a couple of weeks (have been staying with family)and we hope that will improve things. Rent cost is so atrocious around here now and we are paying twice we have ever paid for rent but, we are HOME!!!
Once we get moved and settled I will post new pictures. Justina's brother, Travis, will be seventeen next Friday the 22nd. All my kids are in double digit numbers now. Time has flown.
Oh, one more mention.... We just passed the neuroblastoma diagnosis date and I think it's the first time I have "forgotten" it. What a trip!!! I didn't dwell on it, In fact I hadn't realized how much we had forgotten it until today when I did this update.
Cancer and OMS is always in the back of my mind but, time has definately healed the overwhelming weight it held on my heart at all times.
So, Happy Birthday to Justina and Happy Life to everyone!!!
Love,
Lisa
