Way to go everyone! Our memorial to Mike at the "Relay for Life" was incredible. It touched the hearts of everyone who came to view our stairway. It gave them insight to the wonderful person Mike was and the way he touched all of our lives. It was also healing for all of us who loved Mike so. As difficult as it was for us, we worked to put together a beautiful memorial of Mike's life. As I worked scanning pictures, making the sign, and t-shirts the pain of losing Mike was so very difficult. But as I looked at everyone together Friday night, walking through out the night, a sense of peace was with me. I knew Mike was looking down at all of us, proud that we are his family! Love you all!

Hi everybody. Just wanted to say hello, and see how you guys were doing. I know that I didn't see Michael much over the years, and I really regret not getting to know him better. I think about him/ and you guys on a daily basis. He really has touched a part of my heart that I didn't even realize was missing. I often will cry, and my husband Anthony will console me. I sometimes even talk to Michael when I'm really upset. I feel so close to him, even though thru the years we barely spoke or saw eachother. I think about you guys too. How lucky Mike must have been to have you all as friends and family. It touchs me so, to share a piece of your hearts. Each time I read your entries, it breaks apart of mine but helps me recall that my life isn’t so bad.

They say time heals all wounds and God only gives us what we can and do handle. Sadly, things must happen for a reason but out of something so sad, Mike’s touch is still doing so good.

I only knew Mike for moments, but now know he was an angel and as lucky as he was…you all were too. Try not to forget, if we do your best....God (and Mike) will help us do the rest.

Please don’t stop. It is important that you all keep on going, Mike surely, wouldn’t have it any other way.

May God grant us all Peace......I hope to see you all on my next visit to Sue & Walt’s.

To my dearest family.
some things id like to say but first of all to let you know that i arrived o.k. I'm writing this from heaven where i dwell with god above, where there's no more tears of sadness there is just eternal love. Please do not be unhappy just because im out of sight, remember that i'm with you every morning noon and night.That day i had to leave you when my life on earth was through, god picked me up and hugged me and said i welcome you. It's good to have you back again you were missed while you were gone, as for your dearest family they'll be here later on. I need you here so badly as part of my big plan, there's so much that we have to do to help our mortal man. Then god gave me a list of things he wished for me to do, and foremost on that list of mine is to watch and care for you.And i will be beside you everyday and week and year, and when you're sad i'm standing there to wipe away the tears. and when you lie in bed at night the days chores put to flight, god and i are closest to you in the middle of the night. When you think of my life on earth and all those loving years, because you're only human they are bound to bring you tears. But do not be afraid to cry it does relieve the pain, remember there would be no flowers unless there was some rain. I wish that i could tell you of all that god has planned, but if i were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.But one thing is for certain though my life on earth is over, i am closer to you now than i ever was before. And to my very many friends trust god knows what is best, i'm still not far away from you i'm just beyond the crest. There are rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb, but together we can do it taking one day at a time. It was always my philosophy and i'd like it for you too, that as you give unto this world so the world will give to you. If you can help somebody who's in sorrow or in pain ,then you can say to god at night my day was not in vain. And now i am contented that my life was worthwhile ,knowing as i passed along the way i made somebody smile. So if you meet somebody who is down and feeling low, just lend a hand to pick him up as on your way to go.When you are walking down the street and you've got me on your mind ,i"m walking in your footsteps only half a step behind. First, I have to say what a beautiful family you have. Mike and I just could'nt believe how close you all are
and how much love and support you gave one another.Watching how you all were together amazed us and your courage and strength made us cry..
There are no comforting words to take away your pain, but there is a reason for everything. Maybe God has some better plans for Mike ( only Angels know how to fly)
When my brother passed away, I was fifteen and I have been thinking about this poem from his memorial service. It has been 21 years now and I thought I had forgotten the words. I have been looking for it for a week now, so that I could share it with all of you....For the past 3 days , I have spent hours on Mike's website...and as I read each journal entry and every e-mail, It came to me as clear as day, word for word, the poem I had been looking for. I did'nt realize until today that I must have had it memorized all along.

AFTERGLOW

I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one...
I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done.

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the Lord...........

.Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.......For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand; one belonging to him and the other to the Lord...........

When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand.......He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints.......... He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life.............

Happy Birthday Mike! I hope you had a great day. I still remember, very clearly in fact, the day you were born. What an adorable little baby you were - what happened? Ha Ha. When I think back to your childhood, I remember you driving paper plates and smoking crayons. It still makes me laugh. He has 2nd degree burns on his chest and had to be helicoptered to a burn center where he had surgery today. Never a dull moment with kids! I just read the lastest report and everything sounds good. Good luck with the eating, Michael. I'm sure trying to eat after an extended period of time of not eating, will not be easy. But look at all the other obstacles you have already overcome.

Just an update on our end. It's been extremely hot here - 90s all week. It's probably cooler in Florida! The boys and Rich are all doing great. Brian has turned into a little monkey. All he does is climb. I came into the kitchen today to find him standing on the kitchen counter. He gave me a heart attack. He was pretty proud of himself! It's a good thing Timmy can tell when he's in danger - he let's me know when Brian is doing something he shouldn't be. Anyway, it's bed time for the boys. Take care all and we love you all very much.
