Journal
Saturday, October 8, 2011 10:49 AM CDT John Denver says it best in his song “Some days are diamonds and some days are stones”. Yesterday was a stone, a crystal, but still a stone, as we waited for 11 hours for Maddie to come out of surgery. The day quickly turned into a diamond when the doctor met with us and said that the surgery went very well. She had minimal blood loss and her sats remained stable through out! The got the tumor and they reconstructed the top of the spine and then connected it to the previous spinal fusion which will straighten her back even more. She will no longer have neck movement, but he believes the arm and hand movement she had lost due to the majorly compressed spine will slowly return. Look out Kenni…thumbs down again and who knows maybe she’ll be giving move of those famous Maddie divots to Kendra and Dr. Melchert. She has a central line and a drain in her head so they will watch that closely for infection. They are keeping her sedated today and maybe tomorrow. She looks angelic as as she rests comfortably. Keep her in your thoughts and prayers and praise GOD all that he has done for us thus far!
