Jordyn's page

Welcome to Jordyn's Web Page. It was provided to keep people updated on Jordyn's fight against Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Jordyn was 2 years old and is her parents HERO! We ask that if you are new here, please go into the History and read her story. We don't ask much, other than to keep coming back and reading about her parents struggle of day to day life with her in Heaven, and that you help raise awareness about Childhood Cancer.

It's been far too long since I've written here, so much has changed. Tomorrow marks 12 years since Jordyn went home to Heaven. Wow 12 years. Sometimes my heart screams that it was just yesterday. I can say though, that thankfully that extreme pain does not come nearly so often. I know that tomorrow will hurt, but I'm not stuck there. I'm not focused on the hurt and despair I once felt. That all goes back to Jesus. If I didn't have the hope of enternity, if I didn't have his promises...then I'd be in a black hole, but I'm so blessed to have a Savior that loves me so much that he died for me.

So as for an update for us. We're now a family of 8. Jordyn is the big sister of 5 siblings now! Jacob, Jackson, Emma, Noah, and now Olivia Joy. When Olivia was born she was born not breathing, after some stimulation they were able get her breathing. She was born sick though. She was put on a CPAP machine to help her breathe. She had pneumonia, an infection that she caught from me since I was Strep B positive (they did give me antibiotics during my c-section, but her NICU ped said that sometimes it's just not enough). She went through so much, they thought she might have spinal meningitis so she had to have a spinal tap and that was thankfully ruled out. They thought she had S.M because her infection numbers had went up greatly, but ultimately it was just the infection she already had going on in her little body. The morning after the meningitis scare, her little lung collapsed, so they inserted a chest tube and intubated her. Then one of the peds told us that it appeared that she was cross eyed, more than just the normal newborn cross eye, but severe enough that surgery could be in her future. Thankfully her lung healed, and when they pulled her breathing tube out, they didn't have to put her on the CPAP again and she was able to hold her oxygen levels on her own at a safe level. They told us they believed that her eyes were severely cross eyed, so a Pediatric opthamologist came in and he felt that the muscle that controls her eye movement was not working properly and that if it was not corrected she'd need surgery or would go blind. She was released that night, her 8th day of life and the following day we went and picked up eye patches from the eye dr and she wore one patch on her right eye for 15 minutes once a day. After 30 days we went back to see the eye dr and he said that the cross eye had corrected itself. Well today we took her back and he says it appears her eyes are healthy and working beautifully. We will take her back to see him again in 6 months.

In the 12 years since Jordyn died, God has grown me so much. He woke me up day after day in that first year of grief when all I wanted was to join Him and her in Heaven. He gave us Jacob who showed me that I could love with my mother's heart still. He brought me new laughter with Jackson. He gave us Emma Grace after so many prayers. Noah is a gift from GOD, he brought us more laughter and joy there are no words. Olivia Joy is our surprise blessing. My easiest pregnancy and boy did she keep us on our toes in those first 8 days. I'm so thankful that the Lord has given us so many miracles..Six beautiful blessings.

I'm a different woman now than I was 12 years ago. I wouldn't trade a single day I had with Jordyn and I miss her and love her so much. God took her home and I know she never has to suffer again. She only knows joy and she's completely whole. What more can a Momma ask for?

I love you forever my sweet Jordyn Ashleigh.
