Dylan's World
Welcome to Dylan's world. This web page was made to help keep friends and family informed on how Dylan is doing. Dylan was diagnosed 12/99 (age 3) with an inoperable glioma brain tumor. It is in the cerebellum, brain stem, cervical and thorasic cord. Dylan has survived many years of treatment. Brain biopsy, port implant, several chemotherapies, extensive brain and spinal cord radiation, steroids, blood transfusions, plasma transfusion, respitory arrest, tracheostomy, g-tube and many more uncomfortable test and procedures. Nothing we tried stopped his aggresive tumor from growing. In January 2002, the doctors told us there wasn't anything else they could offer Dylan. They sent us home on Hospice with a prognosis of 2 weeks to 2 months.I didn't know what to do, I was not ready to give up the fight and neither was Dylan. We prayed and prayed and prayed...Then God answered our prayers. We met a family, who son had a Difussed Pontine Glioma. They had their son on an alternative medication called Protocel, and he is doing very well. What did we have to lose? Let me tell you what we have gained. Dylan has been steroid free for 1 year, we have had 4 "stable MRI's" and 2 MRI's with shrinkage. The only time we go to the hospital now is for MRI's and check-ups. We have not had an over nighter in over a year.I wish I knew about Protocel before I put my son through all that damaging chemo and radiation. If this is your 1st time visiting our site or your 100th time, please sign our guest book and let us know you were her checking on us. Dylan really enjoys having me read everybody's kind words. Thank you.

This poem was written for Dylan by a very dear friend...
Dylan's Song Sometimes you take for granted The life you live each day Some people aren't as lucky Some kids don't get to play Take a breath and look around Precious gifts you sometimes miss Let your loved ones know you care Give your kids a hug and kiss The simple life is not as easy As they would have you think Life's treasures can pass you by As quick as you can blink Children shouldn't have to worry About dying much too young They should laugh, and play, and dance And sing songs they've never sung Tell me what is on your mind and I'll tell you what's on mine Sometimes I take for granted Life's intricate grand design Make your way through someones's life Bringing love and light and joy Remember all the good times of life with one little boy.

I know it has been forever since I have updated. Thanks for everyone who continues to check on us and leave guest book entries.
Dylan has been stable health wise. We have been having some issues with his heart rate. We will b following up with more doctors. We also received the results for his bone scan....not as good as we wanted. We are going to have to up his doses of calcium and vitamin D.
Dylans new craft are bracelets made out of flip tops off of aluminun cans. If you have seen them they are very cool. He is selling them for $3.00. If you need anymore info just email me.
Thanks again for all your prayers and guestbook entries. Love to all, Sharon and the boys
