Hello, i was watching a couple of new records being set at the Olympics today, so thought i would look up some slightly stranger ones instead of some jokes.

Here's a couple;

Most spoons balanced on the face
Tim Johnston (USA) (b. 1 January 1992), was able to balance on his face (one on each ear, two on each cheek, three on his chin, two on his lips, one on his nose and three on his forehead) and balance them for 30 seconds at on May 28, 2004.


British pub landlord Garry Turner clipped 153 ordinary wooden clothes pegs on his face at the WH Smith bookshop in York, Yorkshire, UK, on September 28, 2002

Happy Thanksgiving my little ham!! Got to the store last night during my lunch hour. It was so wierd being in thte grocery store at four in the morning and NOBODY else in the place;. Actually, it was pretty nice.
Got home this morning and started cooking right away. Got it all done by noon too! I was pretty impressed. Got a cat nap and now trying to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.
Tell Poppy and Nana Hello and give Austin a great big hug for me! you all have a wondrful holiday.

I know that you are happpy that Austin is getting ear tubes again. Do they fall out? They finally put titanium tubes in Amya's ears and only one infection since then!! I was so thankful!
Amya is doing well and so is everyone else. You be careful if you are venturing out....I am going as far as the theatre and that's it.
I am already finished with what I am getting the kids for Christmas.

Weren't the pictures just beautiful! I just loved how it turned out. Can you believe that I took that picture on the front porch of my house! I think it looks better than the kids' school pictures! Well, You do need to call me to see what all is going on at my house. You know how it is always something major going on.! I am still working at the same ole place, the kids are all in basketball and all of them pleay at a different school. We drive around town like chickens with our heads cut off!! Trying to get from one practice to the next or trying to get kids picked up before the other one needs to be dropped off... lol Be thankfull that you only have one!!

I talked to Steph!!! I actually got her to email me... She is doing great and Derick is such a miricle. You know his cance was one of the worst cancers you can have and he is pluging away! all good scans and is in public school! He is just a walking miricle and he and steph deserve it. She is back with her old boyfriend and are engaged to get married. I hopwe she send us invitations. I will be going no matter what I Have to do!! I am being paged in the plant got to go...

I had originally planned to visit as many caringbridge sites as possible, and leave some encouraging words, prior to my daughters passing. Unfortunately her passing came sooner than we had expected, but longer than any of her doctors expected.

Another angel takes flight.

My daughter Pam had a brain tumor and was fighting the fight since November 4th, 2002, after the birth of her daughter (Casey Morgan). My youngest daughter, Karen, set up a caringbridge website for Pam. Karen's friends mother shared a prayer with us, that I would like to share with you and Austin. It's called DON'T QUIT:
Don't Quit -
When things go wrong, as they sometimes will, When the road you're trudging seems all uphill, When the funds are low and the debts are high, and you want to smile, but you have to sigh, When care is pressing you down a bit - Rest if you must, but do not quit. Life is queer with its twists and turns, As every one of us sometimes learns, And many a fellow turns about, When he might have won had he stuck it out. Don't give up though the pace seems slow - You may succeed with another blow. Often the goal is nearer than it seems to a faint and faltering man; Often the struggler has given up when he might have captured the victor's cup. And he learned too late when the night came down, How close he was to the golden crown. Success is failure turned inside out - The silver tint of the clouds of doubt, And you never can tell how close you are, It may be near when it seems afar, So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit, It's when things seem worst that you mustn’t quit.(Just call on Jesus).

I would also like to share a saying that was on the card my wife Diane picked out, and we bought for Pam:

Oh boy...sounds like Austin doesn't love school as I had hoped! Each day should get better. My son used to cry EVERYDAY I'd drop him off at nursery school pleading, "PWWEASE, Mommy, pwwease dooon't weave me!!!"...boy that was hard to walk away from! But everyday I'd pick him up and he'd be all excited to tell me what he did. And I'd say, "Good Andrew! Now you're not going to cry tomorrow right?" "Nope, Mommy!" ....and the next day it was the same thing all over again, "PWwease Mommy, don't weave me!!!" He's 16 years old now so I guess somehow we got through it!
I hope you make it to the shore next weekend but we'll have to watch Hurricane Isabel pretty closely! She's a big one and she could hit you or me in Connecticut!

Hey girl!!! I am sorry to hear about Austin's "speed bump" but I am sure he will come through like a real hero (as usual). I miss you guys and I do get yoour emails, just real busy working full time and taking care of all the kids. Jessee is back at home and doing GREAT! She really had a wake-up call living with her aunt and realized how good she had it at home. She is getting her GED ans hopefully starting at the local college this next year. Bad news is we found a lump in her left breast and the ultrasound turned out ugly adn then the mammogram turned out ugly too. She has a Fibroadenoma Tumor (she is getting a biopsy this am) So I must hurry. I am praying for the best and if it does not go away in two months (provided it comes back not malignant) we are going to have it removed. I would just feel better without it in there, you know?
I gotta get out of here and get her to the Dr. Hey can you give me Stephanie's email address again. I got a new computer and of course all of me email addresses are stored on it and I can't get to them!!! Call me sometime.... Love you all and send hugs and kisses from me and Amya.

Hi Carolyn and Austin,
Thanks for the info on potty training. Austin, you are AWESOME! Taylor is still trying to get the hang of it. As for the insurance issues, I think they think it is some sort of game of endurance. Who can last the longest before giving in. I think they automatically deny bills to delay having for fork out the money for another 30 days or more. I know I am still struggling with a bill from year 2001 for a bill from Duke. They aren't much better. But enough complaining in the guestbook. Keep up the good work and let me know if you have a breakthru on the potty training.

Austin I am so happy your scans went so well!!!
I hope you all are enjoying your summer!!! We found some bunnies in our backyard recently. Actually, our dog did - the kids were in the pool and she was barking like crazy under the pool deck. Finally when we checked there was a bunny nest with a baby bunny in it. Then after more looking through it we found 2 more. SO since i have 3 kids and there was 3 bunnies, they each named one. We left lettuce and water and carrots out there but it was never touched so we dont think the mom came back. About 2 days later we took them in to feed them and we had them a week, feeding them kitten milk from a kitten bottle or dropper. They were SO cute! They called them Jean, Robin and Nibbles. My son Gooch called his Jean, named after Jean Smart in XMen. They opened their eyes while we had them and by the end of the week we had them they were running all over, more running than hopping. I wish I had remembered that that you had a rabbit, we could have asked you for advice. My husband was convinced they were going to grow up and bite our fingers off, so we turned them over to a Childrens Museum that is a wildlife rehab center near us. I hope they are being taken care of, if they werent already released. I know the kids loved them and they really were cute!! That was our thrill for the summer – but it doenst compare to yours!

Hey there guys!! It has been awhile since I have been to your site. I went to Eric's site to see what I was typing in wrong. I figured it out so here I am.....
I hope all goes well with your xrays and I will be praying for you.
So you are another year older and such a sweet boy. Austin, you really put me in stiches that last time we saw you!!
I really hope you are a comedian some day, if you aren't, your missing your calling! lol
Carolyn, I hope to be able to see you when you come to Duke. I may be able to come and see you that first day you are there, but the rest of the wek I am supposed to go and see Jessee for the first time in almost 9 months. She has gotten her driving permit and I don't want to be anywhere near any car she is in!!! But she is going to be moving to Indiana with her grandmother this weekend. She is handling it well considering all the change she has put herself through this past year.
Amya is doing amazingly well. So beautiful...
Gaige is repeating Kindergarten, he just can't seem to put it all together, but will do fine when he repeats this grade.
Tai is in his first school and loves it!! He is learning all the kindergarten stuff so when and if I decide to put him in public schools he will be more than ready for it.
Amya still can't go to public school or daycare, but I am going to be getting another immune profile done on her this summer to see how her immune system is getting. Better or worse. I am sure it is getting better, she isn't as sick all the time as she used to be.
I better get to work. I will call later.

He girlie!!
I have been thinking about you so much. I haven't seen you on the internet and frankly i haven't been on it much anyway. Austin is a cutie! I have been working as a supervisor in a plastics plant just down the road from our house. This allows me to be close to Amya in case of emergencies. I am currently working 7:30 pm to 4:00 am M-F. I put in for a Jr. Engineering position and will find out around Christmas time if I got it. Then I will be on days for about two months then back to a twelve hour shift on nights. My poor body can't figure out what the heck I am doing. Days, nights, days, nights. It has been crazy. Christmas has snuck up on me and I haven't got any christmas cards or gifts bought yet. I guess I will have to just make a few phone calls to tell everyone Merry Christmas. Oh well. I have gone the internet today ordering stuff and having it delivered AND wrapped!! Walmart.....I never even had to fight the crowds. It is wonderful. I got an email from our friends Shelia and Eddie but it wouldn't open up so I am not sure what they had to say. THis is going to be a real hard Christmas for them. I continue to pray and when I hear that Christmas song that came out last year called "Christmas Shoes" I just break down in tears EVERY time. Doesn't matter where I am at. I was at INgles the other day when it was on the radio and I was sitting in my car with tears rolling down my face remembering all of our friends that we lost this year. It took me twenty minutes to be able to go into the store! Well, I am at work and I am writing on Austin's web page, guess I should have emailed you , but who said I was thinking!! lol It is midnight here. Oh yeah your web page address is incorrect for austin. It is .org now and not .com. Just thought I would tell you that so you could fix it. Love you all and tell Poppy and MaMaw I say Hello! I hope to see you when you are in town. I had a tree fall on my car the last time I was at DUke this month. Yes, it was during that terrible ice storm. RMH had no power, heat, hot water, ect. It was a mess and I ventured outside just to have Chris tell me that he just pulled a tree off my car!! I only had liability on it so there are a few dents in the hood and the top of the car. lol I better go. Sending lots of hugs and kisses your way! Tell Austin AMya is growing TALL!! 38 inches to be exact and weighs 34 pounds. She is growing so fast now. She must be going to be a very tall lady like her mommie!

Just wanted you to know that we are thinking about you, and soooo glad everything is going well!!
Things are going "ok", things are going well with the pregnacy, we have a doctor app on the 12th for an ultrasound. we still have not decided if we are going to do prenatel testing to see if the baby has SCID, that is something we will decided after we see the doctor on thursday.

Just when I thought the news couldn't get any better, Austin never ceases to amaze me! Fantastic news on the enzyme and engraftment!
Sorry to hear about your ear, Carolyn, I know from past experience with my kids that sometimes the "swimmer's ear" ends up requiring oral antibiotics when the drops don't seem to work. I'm sure you'll feel better soon!

I found your website from another website and I have been reading your journals to learn about Austin and your family. My son Elijah Austin is currently in Durham and just had his BMT on March 29th. We are always excited to read about other kids like Elijah who are further along past their transplant day. Hey guys! Just thinking of you and wanted to drop a line. It was soooooo great to see everyone at your last visit. Austin is such the "little man"! Abby loved her outfits, but she is WILD about the duckie Austin picked out! She wants to hold it all the time, and put the tag in her mouth.....why, I don't know. I agree with John, you will go back to RMH for anything!!! he-he. Well, I am hoping that Austin's test results are good! Amya is still trying to improve. We are still on oxygen, 1 1/2 liters per minute, and she is being followed by her immunologist and asthma specialist here in Asheville. We have to go in everyday for them to check her oxygen levels and heart rate. Her heart rate has been really high, in the high 170's-199. But she is still active. It is due to all of the steroids they think. She is amazing to me. I just love you guys and want you to know I miss my computer buddy!!!!

Hey, I am just getting back from the ER, Amya has pnuemonia, RSV and her heart rate is racing at 198bpm. We have decided that home is ok as long as we have her on oxygen and they have put her back on Prelone. Her oxygen levels were 88% at rest and 90% when awake and active. I will keep you posted. I am glad to hear that Eric is doing well. Shelia said she was going to call youright after we got through so I am sure you already know what his status is. I msut go the oxygen is here. I love you Austin!!! Eya says hello!

Eric has scans Wednesday morning at 7:00. We will get the results Thursday. His appointment is at 10:00. Eric is also having surgery Monday, March 25. They are removing his hickman lines and try to correct his double vision. Please pray for him. Carolyn, please let me know your results on your MRI scan. When will you guys be back at Duke? Carolyn~ Ray and I are so glad to hear that Austin is doing so well!! I hope he is feeling better soon. we have been sick here as well, but are starting to feel a little better. oh, I have some news for you! Ray and I are going to be having another baby. I am not pg yet, but we have decided to use donor eggs/sperm. we haven't decided which one yet. Dr Meyers, (Tylers) doctor, told us that there is bascially no way to get around the risk of scids, except for using donors, so that is what we have decided to do.
we have not yet went to pick out ^Tylers^ headstone, it just seems so "final" and I don't think I am ready to accept that yet. well I just wanted to check in, tell Austin we miss him, and give him a kiss for us!!

Hello Everyone,
I've been thinking about you guys. I sure do miss you. How's my little buddy, Austin, doing? Eric is doing good. He got his drivers permit!!(HA) He drives good!! He is so excited about it. We are going back to Duke on March 19. Eric has scans on March 20. He will get the results of his scans on March 21. Eric is having surgery March 25, on his eyes and to remove the Hickman lines. Please pray for him. I pray that we get good results and that his surgery goes great. I hope that he want have to wear the patch on his eye. He is glad that they are going to do the surgery. Maybe he want see double after the surgery. I better go for now. I pray Austin is doing great. Give him a big hug and kiss from me.

First let me tell you I am so proud of you Austin!! I have watched you come along way. I am so happy that you are doing so well.
Carolyn, I know I don't write in much, but I do read all the time. I don't really send out alot of emails either. I wanted to say thank you for being there for Ray and I. I remember when Austin was at the hospital, during transplant, and of course Ty was there too, we would go out all night to the smoking area, and go have 1 smoke, and it end up to be 3 or 4!! we never could just go smoke 1!!! I remember watching you go through so much pain when Austin in the bad stages of chemo, I so much prayed that he would be ok, and stay a little fighter.. and he did! Now that I have lost ^Tyler^, we call him our SCID ANGEL, I feel as if everyone has just stopped talking to me because they feel bad, or just don't know what to say, or anything. I am just glad that he got to see you 2 days before he coded. I know he loved everyone. well I guess I will go, I keep reading about austin, and I want you to know how lucky you are to still have him with you, cause I would never wish this kind of pain on anyone!.

Hi Everyone,
Thank you so much for the pictures. Austin's hair is really growing while Eric's hair is coming out. Yes, the treatments are making his hair come out. How's my little buddy doing? Eric is doing good. He gets tired alot from the treatments. Did you guys have a Merry Christmas? We did. Eric got a ring, clothes, shoes, CD player and leather jacket. He was so excited. He wants to wear the jacket all the time.(HA) We have to go to the clinic in Jackson tomorrow to have his counts checked. Dustin and Brandon got alot for Christmas too. Dustin got a Chocolate Lab too. All the boys were excited about the lab. Dustin has been asking for Lab and he wanted a chocolate one. He and Eddie have been building a dog house all day. Everyone is doing great here in Mississippi. Tell everyone hi and give my little buddy a hug for me. I miss you guys. I hope we will get to see you in North Carolina. I better go for now. Hi Everyone,
I was sitting here thinking about all of you so I decided to write. How's everyone doing? We are doing good here. Eric is a little weak from the treatment. I had to take him to the ER Sunday night. He had to stay the night. He was having headaches. He had a CAT scan and an x-ray to look at his shunt. They wanted to be sure it wasn't his shunt that was causing the headaches. Everything looked okay on the scan and x-ray. They think the headaches maybe from the medicine or counts being a little low. I'm wondering if he's got a sinus infection. I'm calling tomorrow to see if they looked at that. We are getting ready for Christmas. Is Austin excited about Santa Claus? Brandon got a letter from Santa today. He was so excited. Dustin is taking exams this week so, we have been studying alot. He has good grades so for!!!! We miss you guys. We want to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I will call you. I better go for now. We love you guys. Give my little buddy a kiss and hug for me.

We'll get her results back next week to see how much of the bone marrow is hers and how much is the donors. Three weeks ago it was 65% donor & 35% Kassidy's. Hey Austin! It is your friend Chele and Amya, I missed your mommy when she was gong to RMH this week, but I am sure I will get to see her next month when you are with her. Maxwell had a hard time with GVH rash also.It's tricky, but keep that FK506 level up and do lots of creams.I know it's hard watching little Austin with that rash but he's a tough Elmo. Hey!! found it. I sure miss you all and by the way when you head toward Misssissippi, pick me up. I want to go too.... I was hoping to get to see them too.
I am not up for any kind of drive other than the one I HAVE to take every month to Duke...But maye I can get up north your way one dy this summer. I sure miss Elmos's best friend, Austin. I bet he is into everything, just like Tai is here! They put Tai on Clonidine and diagnosed him with ADHD. Man I bet you are thinking that poor woman! Well, That leaves me with only two children that do not have some kind of disorder!LOL I am going to ship one or two of them to you all to get them to eighten then you can send them back!! Just kidding, I know this is part of having a big family...I do love all of the excitement and all the laughs I have daily with the kids.

Hey There Poppy, Austin and Carolyn!!!
It's me Chele... I just bet you were the cutest little elmo ever!! And I am glad that no one knew you were saying "Smell my feet" although, I think it would be funny!!! Amya was a bumble bee and a very cute one buzzing around here all day in her little costume. She didn't want to take it off, not even her little hat.
Listen poppy , We miss your cooking here, now Ms Sheila and I have to do it all!!

Oh yeah, poppy could you help Sheila and I figure out how to change the photos on the caring bridge site. When we try to change them it always comes up blank and we cant get another picture on there. We dont know what we are doing. I managed to get two on amya's but I am afraid to change them in fear we will end up with a blank page and a discription of that blank page just underneath of it!! LOL

I am doing good with my transplant overall. I lost all my hair but I don't look like a werewolf yet. My WBC keeps going back and forth from .3 to .4 but Dr. Martin said that is normal. He is surprised that I have an appetite to eat.
My mom is getting exhausted over the pheresis procedures so they might cut it down to once a week. Well that's all

Then I'll get the carpets and furniture cleaned and germs won't DARE enter this house when Austin gets here. Hi Everyone. Glad to see you are getting a rest from the clinic. The little man is certainly doing well and going strong. Jump up and down for joy when he hits that potty!!!! That is absolutely great!!!! You'll have to go out and buy him big boy underwear (and they are NOT underpants as my nephew always likes to remind me). I guess Ed is on his way up here; hope he is doing okay. He certainly needs to rest. I think him and grammy need a vacation alone soon. Well, take care. Hello Everybody, sorry Carolyn that I haven't written but I have been checking in to see the newest updates and pictures. We were on vacation with our friends from August 3rd to the 11th and it took me a week to unpack all the stuff because I couldn't get out of vacation mode and we just took our daughter Maureen to College yesterday (near Wilkes Barre) so I was busy getting last minute shopping done and I had a big dinner with her aunts and uncles here so they could say good-bye to her. Anyway, you've really been on a roller coaster of a ride, but you're all so strong; and I'm so happy to hear all the little (yeah right, little!!!!) scares turn into triumphs. And Austin - you precious little thing - - you're a precious little "brute" the way you keep fighting. KEEP FIGHTING. And I love the stories about how busy you keep the nurses. They are as special as you are. My little girl is going to school right now to learn to be a nurse and I hope she turns out just like the ones that take care of you. Well, Carolyn, I'm glad Pat and your Mom were able to pull the surprise off, enjoy their company and the home cooking. Hey, Ed, didn't forget about you - you're the man - keep up the good (unbelievable and never ending) job. You're the best. Can't wait to see you guys again!
