Hi Nathan, Beth, Ethan & Zach!

It is so good to receive news of how you all are doing! Your website is great, and it is nice to know that it is available. I'm so glad Elaine shared it with us.

The pictures of the boys are so adorable. However, I haven't seen any pictures of Nathan and Beth yet. Maybe I overlooked them.

Will be thinking about you and praying for you in the days ahead.

Zach, I hope the surgery goes well, and that you will have a speedy recovery. You've been through so much already, that by now you are a pro in handling doctors, nurses, and surgeries. You've got it in you, so you can come out on top once again. Go get 'em buddy!

Ethan, going through all this must be hard on you too. You are a very special person and a wonderful brother! Keep hanging in there buddy. You are doing an awesome job as friend and brother. Keep up the good work.

May you all experience God's richest blessings.

Kathleen

I'm SO glad that Elaine sent an e-mail updating me on Zach and I've read some of the comments in the guest book. It's always nice to hear about family, and extended family.

If you're wondering where I fit into the scheme of things, I'm Elaine's aunt so she and I go way back. Although I now live in Florida (and have lived here for the past twenty years) where we don't have winter weather, I enjoyed reading about your Thanksgiving and Xmas celebrations.

I'm adding my good wishes and hope Zach continues to improve

Hi Smith Family,
Double yeahs here for the good news on Zach!
Sorry to learn of the dental surgery, but we're sure he will do well with all the wonderful care at the hospital and yes, a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.
Hopefully, it will not be as strenuous on him as it is on Mom and Dad!
Personally, I'm looking forward to the day when Zach writes his "memoirs" or maybe Ethan will be his biographer.
Love, Carol and Skip

Happy New Year!! I am so sorry that I have not checked in for a while but it has been wild around my house. Thank you so much for the Christmas card and pictures they were beautiful. Jordan is starting to try to talk now but only about 4 words right now. He babbles a lot. He turned 5 on Thursday so this weekend will be Party time for him and grandma's house. Jordan has been going to pre school on M,T,Wed, and Thursdays and seems to enjoy it. He actually is starting to go to the potty a little bit now. He is gradually trying to catch up and learn but Just having him with us is all that is important to me. Had a meeting with his O.T and PT other day and as they were telling me what he could not do, I blurted out what he could do instead and explained his story to him. I know that I am going to have to start buckling down with him but I am so scared to push him. I want everyday to be special and fun for him. Am I wrong for that? Well, just wanted to wish you a very happy new year and I hope that 2006 brings you and your family many many wonderful blessings.

What a beautiful winter wonderland this morning! Grandma and Grandpa Smith here. We will always treasure the memories of our Thanksgiving together - a real milestone for Zachary, eating black olives, coleslaw and cranberries. What a delight. Then a couple of days ago, we had our first "dinner out" at Applebee's with you all. What joy! Ethan, I love baking cookies and pies with your help - and sledding in the snow (wish we had a bigger hill!.) Zachary, seeing you walk and eat and counting to 10 warms my heart beyond words. What a joy you all are. Beth and Nathan, words can't express how proud of you we are. You are such good parents and in spite of challenge after challenge have stayed so strong and supportive of each other. Just want you - and the world - to know how special you are. blessings.

My name is susan villareal, mother to Jordan V. Jmml patient diagnosed March 4, 2003, stem cell transplant September 17, 2003. I came across you web site from the JMML entry that you did regarding the growth chart. I can relate with having a three year old who washes his hands every 5 minutes. I keep disinfect wipes all over my house and antibacterial hand santitizer in each room. Jordan thinks the antibacterial gel is lotion so he is always putting that on his hands. Jordan got his flu shot around 2 weeks ago but my baby, Jarrod who is two does not qualify to get one. Jordan has been isolated for over 14 months now. He is in remission and everything looks good but I am scared to let him go outside or go anywhere. I mop my floors twice a day and if it can not be washed I do not bring it into my house. I even take a shower and change clothes before I go into my house after working. I did not even let Jordan and Jarrod go trick or treating but they had plenty of candy and we watched scarry movies and ate all sorts of junk food. With the flu season approaching I am scared to even go to the store. I even carry little individual wipes and wipe off the shopping carts handles before i get them. Over protected, huh or maybe a littel ocd, ha ha. Just saw Zachary's web site and wanted to wish all of you a very happy and blessed day.
Zachary you are a beautiful little boy and I just want to say "We all love you and your family"

Hi there-
I am in Pennsylvania also - but in Pittsburgh. Our son Grant was Dx with JMML at 5 months and had his transplant last September. I am in the Yahoo group but almost never post. Sometimes I feel like I only have enough strength to worry about Grant. But after reading your last update to the group I just wanted to say hi and let you know that you are not alone. There are 3 boys here in the Pgh area with JMML. Two are 5 and my son is almost 2. They are all in remission after transplants at CHP Pittsburgh. Just keep taking this one day at a time - it sounds like you are on top of everything. If you ever want to chat, please email me and I can call you...

Hello, My name is susan villareal and my son is also a JMML child. Jordan was diagnosed with JMML on March 4, 2003 and received his stem cell implant on September 17, 2003. Jordan is doing fine and in January he will turn 4. Jordan also has a lot of hearing problems. As a matter of fact, we went to speech theraphy yesterday but Jordan did not do so good. Jordan only says about 5 words and will not hardly wear his hearing aids because he is so skin and ear sensitive. I just wanted to introduce myself and my family to yours and give Zack a big hug and kiss from us. Zack is so precious and just dealing with JMMl, Zack is very very brave.

Beth, The boys are getting big. Three is such a busy age. But they are learning so much and talking so much. I think of you often, I know you have your hands full. Hang in there it does seem to get easier. Michael is so independent because of the older kids. He dresses him self and gets in the car seat himself. But he is also very thick headed he knows what he wants. I am so tired at the end of the day. Best wishes you are in my thoughts and prayers.
