Happy 8th Birthday Victor

Victor and Nicholas' Birthday Party

SCROLL DOWN TO THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE TO READ VICTOR'S INTERVIEW IN THE LOCAL NEWS PAPER.

Welcome to Victor's Web Page. It has been provided to keep family and friends updated about his battle with leukemia. On June 5th, 2003, our son Victor was diagnosed with High risk All. (acute lymphoblastic leukemia) He had a very high white blood count(110,000) and an enlarged spleen. After his 7 day bone marrow test he still had 72% blasts in his marrow which made him a slow early responder to the chemotherapy. Because of these factors, he was placed on the 1961 augmented protocol for SER patients.

On Feb 12th 2005, after undergoing 20 months of chemotherapy, we found out that Victor had an isolated spinal fluid relapse. On May 10th 2005, Victor recieved an unrelated cord blood transplant at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. He has suffered from grade IV skin GvH disease and also had some issues with GvHD in his Gut. After spending 10 weeks in the hospital, Victor is finally home. It is going to be a long road to recovery, but with God's loving arms around Victor, he is destined to prevail.

Today Victor had his one month check up and a follow up PFT. Every thing is right on track! His clinic check up went great. All of his #'s are right where they should be. And his pulminary function is stable, which means he may be able to taper off of the fk506 (anti-rejection drug) for the gvhd.

Here is the article that names Victor the 2007 Plum Citizen of the Year:

We are so proud of him!

Hugs to all,
Apryle
