Welcome to Kolton Appleby's Caringbridge Page Welcome to Kolton's Web Page. It has been created to keep family and friends updated on Kolton. Kolton was diagnosed with Stage IV neuroblastoma on May 12th 2004. He has completed five rounds of chemotherapy, one major surgery to remove the large tumor in his abdomen and has had various other surgeries such as line placements and removal, and bone marrow aspirates and biopsies. He also underwent two bone marrow transplants with high-dose chemotherapy and total body radiation, and also had localized radiation for six days one month following his second transplant.
~~He is finished with his treatment protocol and we are 3 YEARS POST TRANSPLANT!!(January 2008)~~
*******Kolton had an MIBG scan on December 3rd 2008 with no evidence of disease found.******
We are very excited and continue to pray for good health. Kolton is doing well and having fun hanging out with his sister Caidence.
~Thank you for checking in with us and signing the guestbook. We love hearing from everyone and appreciate the support. Thank you.~

Wednesday, February 4, 2009 6:38 AM CST I would like to tell everyone about an amazing foundation that Zak’s cousin, Tommy Dowd is participating in again this year….it’s called the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. St. Baldrick's is the world's largest volunteer-driven fundraising event for childhood cancer research. Thousands of volunteers shave their heads while requesting donations of support from friends and family. St. Baldrick's has exploded into the world's biggest volunteer-driven fundraising program for childhood cancer! In nine years, events have raised over $50 million and shaved more than 72,000 heads!! Tommy is participating and going to shave his head on February 28th to raise awareness and funds for cancer research. If it wasn’t for research and the funding that made it possible, Kolton may not be here with us now. As we all go on with our lives each day, we sometimes don’t realize how precious life is and how quickly it can be taken away. Neuroblastoma has about a 50 percent prognosis, but ten years ago it was less than 15 percent. Kolton is in remission and doing great but we continue to pray for a cure for all of the children that have had to fight these diseases. Please visit his page at
http://www.stbaldricks.org/participants/shavee_info.php?ParticipantKey=2009-56084
And make a donation to help us find a cure. Please give whatever you can afford, $5, $10, $20. Every dollar helps.
We would like to thank Tommy for participating!! Thanks, Melissa
