Sunday, March 7, 2004 Hello Everyone,
Karen went back to Hershey Medical Center on Monday February 9th for her clinic appointment and to have her drains removed. While the doctor was removing the first drain, it snapped off and she had to go back in for surgery to remove the broken tube on Tuesday February 10th. Karen returned to Hershey on Monday February 16th to have the second drain removed. The second drain came out without a problem. Karen had her last clinic visit on Monday February 23rd. She has recovered nicely from her latest surgery. Her clinic appointments are monthly now. She is being very careful on her lifting!
Karen has her blood tested every two weeks now, down from once per week. She will have a Dexascan performed on Monday March 15th. This is a bone density test. They will perform this test to measure her bone density as a base line for future scans. This is needed due to the Prednisone she is taking, which can cause osteoporosis.
The medications Karen is taking daily are as follows. We thank God they are working well and she has very few side effects from them.
A.M. Meds Prednisone (15 mg) Gengraf (300 mg) Cellcept (1000 mg) Bactrim 400 (80 mg) Valcyte (450 mg) Prilosec (20 mg) Colace (100 mg) Toprol XL (100 mg) Norvasc (10 mg) Multivitamin
P.M. Meds Gengraf (300 mg) Cellcept (1000 mg) Prilosec (20 mg) Colace (100 mg) Toprol XL (50 mg) Zoloft (50 mg)
Karen will be back at Hershey Medical Center on Tuesday March 9th to have her gallbladder removed. This surgery was postponed last week due to her doctor had a kidney transplant. Doctor Alfrey, her transplant surgeon will be performing the gallbladder removal since Karen is a transplant patient. Please keep her in your prayers.
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6
Love,
Larry, Sherry, and Karen
