Happy Holidays 2007! Jessica has been doing well since our last update. Let’s catch everyone up with the last few months of activities...
After fighting 7 strep throat infections over the last year, Jessica finally had her tonsils and adenoids out in August. Everything went well with that procedure – and she hasn’t had strep throat since!
Jessica goes to the clinic every 4 months now for a full checkup and blood tests. Her last appointment was in November. All of her counts were good. Jessica’s next trip to the clinic is in March. The March appointment is longer than usual – since they’ll also be doing an EKG and echocardiogram – comparing against her baseline and looking for any changes.
This past fall was another busy season for everyone. Jessica is doing great in school – she is in 2nd grade now. She is having fun playing soccer again this year. She is also active in her Brownie Troop. And – as you can tell from the picture below – Jessica got her hair cut! She donated 10 inches of her hair to “Locks of Love” – just as her sister Chelsea had done last year.
Chelsea is also doing great in school (5th grade). She was elected to student counsel again this year. And this year she played on the travel soccer team (first time for Chelsea). Her soccer team had a fantastic season – going undefeated! She played several positions throughout the year – including goalie, mid-field and forward.
Andrew started middle school this year (he’s in 6th grade) and he is doing well in school. Andrew had Lyme disease at the start of the school year. We noticed he wasn’t himself – headaches and feeling tired – so we had some tests done. While he was in the hospital the classic "bull's eye” emerged – so they had their diagnosis. The doctors feel it was caught pretty early. It was treated with some heavy duty antibiotics through an IV PICC line for a few weeks. And since it was caught early, there should be no long term effects. Though he missed a few weeks of the season (due to the Lyme disease and the PICC line), Andrew played football this season for the first time – and loved it! He is also quite active in his Boy Scout troop. He had several camping and hiking trips this year that were a lot of fun – including a trip to West Point and hiking on the Appalachian Trail.
And – just to fill in any of those “down times” - Angela went back to work! She started working again – full time - a few weeks ago. We are all still adjusting to the new schedule – and things are crazier than ever around here!
We hope this update finds everyone doing well. Wishing everyone all the best in 2008! Thanks for checking in and thinking of us!
