Thank you so much for sharing these beautiful pictures and ideas with us. For those who feel that have a child with special needs is a negative you show them all the positives- thank you. As a teacher (BS Elementary/Special Education (Dual Major) and soon to be Birth - Kindergarten teacher I know the value in having all students interacting, learning, sharing and struggling together in order to learn to be compassionate with one another and of each other. As adults we are all different and we need to learn to interact with one another and children are no different. May you and your children forever be blessed and may you always provide us with the opportunities to learn more.

Hi Ryan,
My son Matthew is 9 1/2 and has had a life very similar to what your's has been. We have the same equipment and follow the same protocol. He was also diagnosed around age one with SMA type 2. He is also on Jenna's website (pictured). He loves movies and his computer and video games. (Now in 4th grade) He has a wonderful big brother. Glad you could stay here for the weekend while Mom and Dad are off on a get-a-way. Wasn't if fun that Jorie got to stay overnight too? She did pretty well, but did say she missed Mom and Dad.

Well, here it is mid-October and I can see that the whole summer passed by without my even writing to you, Ryan!!!

We sure had a fun summer, didn't we? It was beautiful and sunny for days and days. I know you got your fill of playing in the cul-de-sac with your two buddies, Samuel and Josiah. I wonder if you will still be sword-fighting and lasering each other next summer?! I know you are glad that Josiah loves game cube as much as you do.

You proved yourself quite the fisherman at Shevlin Park, didn't you, reeling in those nice rainbow?

Let's see, I guess the movie of the summer had to be "Cars".

I miss the carefree days we enjoyed, but I am glad we got to spend lots of time with you and Jorie and the little boy cousins from Portland too.

You are doing so well this year in school. It doesn't seem possible that next year you will be in middle school. I am sure there are lots of memories to make in fifth grade first though.

We are blessed you have been so well this past year. God is so good!

Hi Ryan: This is a nice update to your website. I like seeing the new pictures and the caringbridge link. (Great job, MJ...thank you!)

Well, only a few short days and you will be graduating 4th grade. Seems like only yesterday they were sprinkling fairy dust on you and your classmates, making you official first graders!

It's been a good year, health-wise for you and we have much to be thankful for.

Looking forward to a fun, lazy summer. We will be welcoming your new cousin, Luke, to the world within just a couple weeks (c'mon, Luke, we are ready for you!) Then, shortly after that we will drive to San Diego and meet some old friends at the FSMA conference.

After that, we have our first ever "Walk and Roll" fundraiser for SMA that we hope to attend together. I hope it raises lots of money toward the cure.

Oh, I forgot, I know one of the highlights of your summer is always the huge 4th of July celebration in our cul-de-sac and fireworks display practically right overhead.

So, welcome summer. We are glad to see you!
