Welcome to Jeannie's Web Page. Jeannie was diagnosed with brain cancer in March of 2002, and fought gracefully for the joy and good times in her four year battle, which ended peacefully on May 15, 2006. The website and history chronicle that journey, and will continue to be updated for yet awhile, as the ripples of the battle echo through our friends, family and acquaintances. The home page picture was a favorite, as we rafted the Wild Section of the Rogue River one summer.
Journal
Friday, April 13, 2007 2:23 PM CDT A little over four years ago, and a year into our family's battle with brain cancer, we discovered Caringbridge as a means to communicate with those who love us. For some time I had been sending broadcast emails to our friends and family, but the method meant that I was either delivering not enough, or too much, information to most of the recipients. Caringbridge at once allowed me the catharsis of writing and sharing, while it allowed the potential reader to check in at whatever interval was right for them. In addition, a written record of our joys, our concerns, our fears, our anger, our hopes, our dreams, our battles and our adventures, has been created in a way that I would never have been able to create in any other way. For me, sharing with you was often a moment of respite at the end of a challenging day. It refreshed and strengthened me, as your messages of love, hope and prayer strengthened Jeannie and me for the battle. I have been able to save them all.
In a little more than a month, it will be a year since Jeannie left us behind to do the best that we can as often as we can, with all the heart that we can. It was the way she lived, and the way she wants us to live. As I have struggled to come up with a fitting headstone remark, I have often returned to her classic Jeannieism (which may have helped Cliff Williams become the best elementary teacher ever)..."So how old are you going to be four years from now if you DON'T go to college?" While it may not make the final cut, it is certainly worth sharing. If you have a dream to pursue, why in the heck aren't you?
This is in all likelihood my last entry. Remember Caringbridge. It has lightened the burden of many wonderful people, and it can use your support.
