Hi Mary, Mitchel & Family
It has been such a long time since I haven't been around but I just want you to know that we are always thinking and praying for Mitchel. I am glad he is enjoing school and that you are enjoing being home with them. Happy to hear that Mitchel's bone marrow is CLEAR AGAIN!!!!!!
Little Gus is in his last round of Accutane and I can wait until he is done. I don't know if Mitchel can swallow those pills but I have to cut it for little Gus and put it in a spoon with ice cream. PS Mitchel you look like such a big boy in your school picture. Take care of yourself and your mom , Dad & Brother.

Yippee! We are so glad Mitchel's surgery was such a non-event. We know it must have been incredibly difficult to re-live all those emotions from 2004 when you were having to process such painful information. We thank Jesus daily for comforting you and giving you His courage and strength. You and Mike are a living testimony of the goodness of God. We love you all so much...happy painting!

Mary -- Alex is on his 5th out of 6 cycles of the accutane. YUCK!! I hate the side effects. A child-life specialist was able to teach him to swallow his pills. He takes two in the morning and two at night. Alex practiced with broken, smooth pieces of necos and then worked up to tic tacs. He also drinks through a cup with a thick straw attached. We struggled to teach him and the pills would break and we would all cry. Jenny, our CL specialist, taught him in 20 minutes. It makes it so much easier for them when they can swallow the pills quickly. I'll pray!! I've been praying for you all week.

Mary, it's been awhile since I signed in. I just wanted to let you know that Mitchel is still in my daily prayers. I continue to think of you often and am overwhelmed at the thought of everything you've been through. I have a two and half year old son, and I know how upsetting it is when he cries about something very trivial. I can't imagine the feelings you have, you must be torn between wanting to give in to what he wants, and knowing you can't because it is what he really needs. My heart goes out to you. Just know you are doing the best you can for him and Mitchel will always love you. Try to stay strong and have peace with your decisions. I pray this week that Mitchel's treatments will not cause him a great deal of pain. Have fun in New York, and be safe.

God Bless You

Dear Mike, Mary, Mitchel and Michael, your church family at Grace loves you so much! We had a tender, worshipful time of prayer and community tonight. We had the priviledge to lay hands on several people and had a time of prayer for our dear friends with cancer. I had the distinct honor of praying for Mitchel and your entire family. Needless to say, my makeup was entirely messed up or gone completely by the time the evening was over! We love you SO much! You are NOT forgotten. You are NOT walking this journey alone! Mary, wow you had some tough questions to try to answer. I know it can't be easy for you or Mitchel. My heart was aching just reading your entry today. It isn't fair that the innocent have so much to bear. The only comfort we have is knowing God loves us. I will pray for you both to have some peace about what you are enduring. I thank God everyday for Mitchel's clear scans and continue to ask Him to keep Mitchel healthy. I am so glad you are all home safe. Merry Christmas to you all. I hope all your wishes come true and all your prayers are answered!

Sincerely,

Hi Loves,

What a wonderful opportunity to go to Lion King. Aunt Andee went in Chicago and said it was the best musical she had ever seen. I know you two will have a great time.

Mitchel, grandma is looking forward to coming to your house to play with you while mommy goes shopping. Shall I bring Old Maid cards for us to play? I talked to your Daddy this morning. He called to wish me a happy 63 year old birthday. Grandpa is taking me to Wichita today for a special day. We love you both and will be glad for you to arrive back in Oklahoma.

Great news on the HAMA test. I pray this last treatment in NYC is hugely sucessful and that the cancer stays gone for good! We will pray for safe travels for the family coming and going. One suggestion for the cold symtoms Mitchel is starting to show, you might want to get some Airborne tablets (which disolve in beverages) and have him drink one or two down each day. This has worked wonders for our family. Love, Deanna

Christians - By Maya Angelou
When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not shouting "I'm clean livin'."
I'm whispering “I was lost,
Now I'm found and forgiven."
When I say... "I am a Christian"
I don't speak of this with pride.
I’m confessing that I stumble
And need Christ to be my guide.
When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak
And need His strength to carry on!
When I say. "I am a Christian"
I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed
And need God to clean my mess.
When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are far too visible
But, God believes I am worth it.
When I say... "I am a Christian"
I still feel the sting of pain.
I have my share of heartaches
So I call upon His name.
When I say... "I am a Christian"
I’m not holier than thou,
I'm just a simple sinner
Who received God’s good grace, somehow.
May your day be filled with many blessings Ps.91:1

Know that every Monday evening our group is storming heaven for you, and individually we pray every day. Enjoy your sightseeing and have a wonderful Thanksgiving. See you in church!

You don't know me but, I'm a Crown sales rep that joined the company earlier this year. Mitchel has been in my thoughts and prayers continually. I have a 6 year old son, Aaron, that will always be an only child. I often think of Mitchel when I am looking into my son's eyes. Life is so precious and I thank you for sharing Mitcel's progress. It has helped me value each day of my own life and the gifts I've been given.

Faith and love will see Mitchel through. God bless your family. >>>>>>>

Hi Mary, I'm so glad to hear that you are 2/3 of the way done with this round of treatment. I am so sorry that it is so painful for you both. I will pray hard in this area for you guys. We sure love you. Here is a scripture for you today. I pray it encourages you.

He will not break the bruised reed, nor quench the dimly burning flame. He will encourage the fainthearted, those tempted to despair. He will see full justice given to all who have been wronged. Isaiah 42:3

Hi Mary, You are never far from my thoughts and prayers and while in my quiet time this morning I was brought to this scripture and wanted to share it with you in the hope that it will encourage you as it has me.

But this precious treasure-this light and power that now shine within us-is held in perishable containers, that is, in our weak bodies. So everyone can see that our glorious power is from God and is not our own. We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed and broken. We are perplexed, but we don't give up and quit. We are hunted down, but God never abandons us. We get knocked down, but we get up again and keep going. Through suffering, these bodies of ours constantly share in the death of Jesus so that the life of Jesus may also be seen in our bodies. Yes, we live under constant danger of death because we serve Jesus, so that the life of Jesus will be obvious in our dying bodies. So we live in the face of death, but it has resulted in eternal life for you.
2 Cor 4:7-11
Love you, Deanna

Hi Mary and Mitchel,
You two are so brave -- up there in NYC!!! Alex struggled with learning to take his pills too. Sometimes before he takes his pills he practices with tic tacs and then works his way up to taking the pills. We are on a pill-vacation for two whole weeks!! I hope we can meet sometime. Mary, I pray for strength for both you and Mitchel. I don't think there is a more helpless feeling than watching our little guys go through so much. What a brave boy Mitchel is! Hi Mary, I cannot imagine how hard it is to hear that there are still cancer cells in your baby boy. I am so sorry and will keep praying. I met a lady today at a soccer game whose grandson was just diagnosed 2 weeks ago with neuroblastoma at St. Francis. They did the initial tumor removal at St. Francis and sent them onto St. Judes. When they arrived at St. Judes to begin chemo, they ran new tests and found that Kenyan was completely cancer free. Miracles really do happen and we will continue to pray for Mitchel's. We love you.

My Dearest Daughter: What a mighty God we serve! The man who gave you the devotional book had to have been God-sent. I'm totally convinced that God has a sense of humor. I have said many times that God is more fun than any human.

One of my biggest shocks in life has been the fact that you get tremendously blessed as you pray for others.

I announced to our church Sunday that the doctors believe that all the cancer is gone out of Mitchel's body and that we would know for sure after the results of the bone marrow biopsy are back. They were extremely glad. I personally am already celebrating his total healing. I'm trememdously excited. It's hard to keep from shouting, but from what I read in the Bible in Psa. 100:1 it doesn't look like I have to keep from shouting, it looks like I'm suppose to make a joyful shout until the Lord. I say if you don't shout, you'll pout.

I love you honey. Your Mom, Elizabeth

What a sense of humor God has giving you a Yiddish family and what lovely ministering you did for them by being electricity conductors. It makes no difference, big gesture or small, Christ's love conquers all. We love you guys! Enjoy Central Park for me and be sure to check out the Natural History Museum for Mitchel, he will just love the dinosaurs!

Dear Mitchel, Mary and Mike, I just love going to Mitchel's website and seeing his pictures. Mitchel you are the best looking and happiest looking little boy I know. Hope you enjoy being in New York and you and your mom and daddy can see some of the sights.
Mary and Mike, what an inspiration the two of you have been to me personally as I read your journal each day and include it on our Prayer Request List that goes to the Prayer Room for others to pray over and follow along with Mitchel's journey. I pray for Mitchel and you as parents each day, what you write Mary has strengthen my faith even more; just reading your words and thoughts and letting them settle into my heart makes me realize that God does walk with us each and every day even when we wonder where he is. I realize that is why you and Mike have traveled this journey as Christians trusting in God, what a blessing to all who know you.

I have also been praying for Zachary, there are just so many young children that need our prayers.
Love you guys so much,

Dear Mike, Mary & Mitchel, We have started a new ministry at Grace, Celebrate Recovery! It is held on Monday nights and last night one of our ladies stopped by your house and was updated on Mitchel, so our whole table of women got to pray for Mitchel; it was awesome! Your church body loves you and cares for you and holds you in prayer as you walk your journey to healing with Mitchel. Please let me know how else we can serve you. I was away from a computer for a few days and missed being able to check in on you all. I will especially be praying for Mitchel's central line infection and ask that the Lord would give you all an extra blessing of peace today. We love you!

I pray that you will be comforted with the peace of God and know that "if God brings you to it, he will bring you through it." We received your pictures and thank you card at Make-A-Wish today and everyone thought the pictures of Mitchel were beautiful. They even asked if you would mind if we used it for other things. You are simply a-mazing and I am in awe of your faith and trust in the Lord. Dearest Loved Ones: I am rejoicing over the fact that you had a nice weekend. I'm so glad Mitchel is feeling better. Grandma doesn't like for any of her gradnchildren to suffer. Mitchel I want you to know that I believe in your total recovery. I'm believing that every cancer cell will go out of your body in the Mighty name of Jesus and stay out and you will become very, very, healthy. In fact you will walk in divine health. You can't beat that. You are a very strong young man to have endured such severe treatments. I see you in perfect health running in an open field toward the shinning sun with a cool breeze gently rustling your golden colored hair. You will grow up to be a blessing of hope to others who are suffering and a vessel the wonderful Holy Spirit can flow through to tough others.

Mary -- I think it would be so neat if we could meet some time. I feel as though we have a connection, not only because of our boys illness, but because we are on a very similar spiritual journey. Learning to trust is so hard. Alex has just been enrolled in a study here in Cleveland similar to what Mitchell will be going through. The treatment seems to never end. Everytime I think there is an end in sight, there is more treatment. TRUST seems to be the theme of our lives right now. We will especially hold you up as you travel to NY. I know the emotional, physical and spiritual exhaustion that comes from trying to help our children through this difficult battle. Know that we are standing on the battle lines with you. Barb

Mary, what a wonderful gift to be home for Michael's first day of school! We were praying for you last night in our small group that you wouldn't be too sad that you weren't with Michael and that he would be loved on and encouraged by others - but God had a better plan! I'm so glad Mitchel is doing well enough to be home before you go to NY. His sweet relationship with his brother is awesome. Enjoy your days at home, knowing you're covered in prayer (and the Holy Spirit is praying for us when we don't know what to pray!) Love you,

Mary -- My heart is with you when you say that you hate holding Mitchell down. Alex was in the PICU earlier this week and the docs had to put an "art-line" in his hand in order to monitor his blood pressure second by second. It's so hard to see our children suffer, but I am thankful there is a God who knows our suffering and can comfort us.

Hang in there Mary, I know it is overwhelming to feel torn between two children and the different things they are going through. I know you know this, but remember God knows all of this and He sees the big picture, someday we will too. I pray that Mitchel will be handle this chemo just as expected and that God will continue to heal his body completely. You are always in my prayers.

Hi Mary! It was good to see you and Micheal today at the sibling party! You know your journal really touched me tonight as I had the exact same feelings this morning as I sat at the party thinking about our sweet Madelyn being sedated getting her little back stuck and the pain she would be in for a few days and then I was there with Tyler at a party. WOW...it is amazing what us families try to balance...please know that you guys are being thought of and that sweet boy and your family are being lifted in prayer! love you guys! Hang in there! You are doing a wonderful job!! love Brandi

Mary, your feelings are valid and very understandable. Try to stay strong in your belief that God is with Mitchel every step of the way. The Lord is truly good and He will see you through this. I believe in my heart that Mitchel will triumph over this disease. I will pray that your faith and strength remains steadfast and continue to pray for Mitchel.

For I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.

The Lord be with you always.

Mary, I am praying for you and Mike to make the best decisions regarding Mitchel's treatment. I continue to pray for a full recovery of Mitchel and also said a prayer for Michael. They're both such cuties. I was so excited to hear that Michael will be getting honored for being such an awesome big brother. I have something I would like to send to the boys, but wasn't sure the best place to send. If you get a chance, can you email me and let me know please.

Just want you to know how much I think about Mitchel, he is in my daily prayers. I've been off work a few days and don't have the internet and was so glad to get back to work so I could get my "Mitchel fix". That smile goes right to my heart. God bless you all.

Missed having you guys in church this morning. Rod began a series about feeling superior to others and how James warns the church to be on guard. I was struck at how you and your family have grown to better understand the needs of the sick, how to look at a child with no hair and realize they are the hero, and how to hug a child with no leg and see that they are the courageous ones. We miss you, but know our great and awesome God is holding you close.
