Sunday is the day! I will give Jacie her very last chemo pill!

The last 2 and 1/2 years have passed so quickly!

Jacie will have her End of Study Bone Marrow and Spinal Fluid Test on Monday morning. No chemo this time!

We will continue to get blood test and physical exams every month for a year. There will also be a spinal fluid check every three months. The oncologists will keep a close watch on the fluid for the next year. We still have a lot ahead of us but NO MORE CHEMO!

We were thrilled to be asked by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to allow an interview w/Jacie for an article in the TulsaKids Magazine. The article is in the August issue. It is very touching, and there is an adorable photo of her in it too. If you can't pick up a copy, email me and let me know if you would like me to email you the story. My email address is listed on Jacie's Caringbridge Homepage.

We will be celebrating Jacie's 7th birthday in September. We are combining the Birthday Party and an END OF CHEMO party. We have so much to celebrate.

Yesterday was the first day of school for Kayla and Jacie. Kayla is in the 4th grade and Jacie is in the 1st. They are growing up so fast.

Please sign our guest book as you visit we would love to know who is checking up on Jacie.

Our trip to the White House was wonderful! We had a great time! I have posted some pictures for you! Take a look!!

Jacie is in great health! 4 months and counting.... NO MORE CHEMO!

Wednesday, March 10, 2004 3:21 PM CST

Jacie has her next to the last intrathecal (injection of chemo. into her spinal fluid) on March 18th!

Jacie has been chosen by the staff at her oncology clinic to represent Childhood Cancer Survivors by attending Easter festivities at the White House, in Washington D.C.! What an honor for her! Kayla will be participating in the Easter Egg Hunt along with Jacie. I am so thankful that special attention is also paid to the siblings!

Once again, I can tell you that we have experienced far more good than bad over the past 2 years. We have truly been blessed.

Hello everybody!

Sorry it has been so long!

Jacie is doing great! She was admitted to the hospital back in March for a few days. She had a fever for about a week. The doctors determined that it was a virus. She is such a sweet heart! We were in the hospital from 1:00 am Friday morning until Sunday at 10:00 am. and she never complained one time!

We are going to Oklahoma City tonight (just the 3 of us). We are staying in a hotel w/an indoor pool tonight and then going to OmniPlex Museum tomorrow.

There will be a new link added on soon...It is a Quilt of Love (website) made just for Jacie.

Wednesday, February 26, 2003 4:45 PM CST

Just wanted to let you know that Jacie has been doing great! Her blood counts have been wonderful!

Kayla had her Build a Bear birthday party last Saturday! She loved it! It really made her feel special (exactly what I had in mind)!

Jacie's "Make a Wish" trip is scheduled for the last week of May. Jacie, Kayla, Dana (my sister) and I are going to Disney World! We are paying a little extra so we can take Shelby and D.J. (my nieces).

A reporter from the Glenpool Post interviewed Jacie about her trip for a front page news article! My scanner is down right now, but as soon as I can I will post it for everyone to see!

Take care everyone!!!

One year ago today, Jacie was admitted to St. Francis Hospital!

Even though it was probably the worst time of our lives, I can't help but feel that it was a wonderful time too! I have seen with my own eyes how God can answer prayers. My eyes were opened to the fact that there are so many caring and helpful people in the world! My outlook on life has been completely transformed. I can honestly say we have experienced far more good than bad this year.

Jacie is doing absolutley wonderful! Her counts are good and she is full of energy!

Kayla is having an extra special birthday party this year. We were unable to have people over last year for her birthday due to Jacie's intense chemo and low blood counts. We have invited friends to join Kayla at Build a Bear for her party this year!

Thank you to all friends and family for caring, praying and being there for us over the past year! I will never cease to appreciate you!! God bless every single one of you!!!

Last Thursday's procedure went really well. Jacie's counts were low again for a 2nd week. She has been off all oral chemo during this time. Since Jacie was having her spinal under anethesia, Dr. K. went ahead and performed a bone marrow biopsy. The results of both the spinal fluid and bone marrow tests were normal! I have held her out of school until her counts rebound.

Have a great week!!!

Tuesday, January 07, 2003 at 04:21 PM (CST)

Jacie, Kayla and I had a wonderful Christmas together! I have never felt more thankful and grateful to have them in my life! Last year was definitley the worst year of our lives, but I know 2003 holds something much better for us.

Jacie will have another intrathecal (injection of chemo. into spinal fluid) on Thursday. I beleive this is the 10th one she has undergone. She is so brave, there is no worry or fear for her now. Her counts were low last week and she was taken off chemo for a week. It is fairly common for this to happen, especially when viruses are prevelant.

Happy New Year to you all!!

Please keep my baby in your prayers!!

Monday, November 25, 2002 at 07:43 AM (CST)

Jacie has been doing really well. She hasn't missed a day of school in over three weeks now! Her Blood work has been improving with every visit. We are going to spend Thankgiving with my Mom and Dad in Talihina. I am so very thankful this year, for my friends and family! We are blessed to have each and everyone of you in our lives.

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Saturday, October 26, 2002 at 10:45 AM (CDT)

The outpatient treatment went well and Jacie's counts have not dropped as low as I believed they would.

I went to Jacie's 1st Parent-Teacher conference on Thursday. Ms. Collins beleives that Jacie is showing NO developmental delays due to chemo! She is even beyond expectations for her age! I thank God everyday that Jacie is with me and that she is doing so well! I am so proud of her!

Kayla's teacher commended her in every area of her work! She has always been far beyond her years! If I could just put some tape on her mouth everything would be fine! Ms. Bushyhead says, "Kayla is very social!" HA!

I have added some pictures from Jacie's birthday party!!!

Tuesday, October 15, 2002 at 04:12 PM (CDT)

Jacie has an intrathecal treatment tomorrow (chemo injection into the spinal fluid). This is done occassionally throughout treatment to prevent relapse of leukemia in the spinal fluid. She is given anesthesia and doesn't remember any of it. Actually she loves the feeling the anesthesia gives her so she is excited about having the spinal! This is just fine with me because I remember the days when she cried and hour before we left to go to the clinic and continued crying until after treatment. Jacie has really become quite a trooper!

Please continue to keep her in your prayers!!

Monday, September 23, 2002 at 03:40 PM (CDT)

Check out the new Photos!!!

Marrs Electric Inc. and I gathered a team to walk in the 2002 "Light the Night Walk" benefiting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in honor of Jacie. The walk was held on September 19th which just happened to be Jacie's 5th birthday! We had such a good time walking with our friends and family. To top the night off, our team was the #1 Corporate Team! We raised over $2,500! It was an absolute honor to see Jacie accept the plaque!

Jacie's health has been really good. Her immunity level has been pretty low for the last month, but we have managed to avoid any sicknesses! Keep her in your prayers!!

Today is Jacie's 5th Birthday!!

I woke up with such a feeling of thankfulness this morning! Jacie's birthday means more to me now than ever before! Birthdays are not about cake and gifts, it is a celebration of having that person in your life!

It is raining today and tonight is the Light the Night walk! Cross your fingers that the rain leaves by this evening!! By the way, My team and I raised $2,500 for The Leukemia Lymphomia Society!!!

Saturday, September 07, 2002 at 06:20 PM (CDT)

Jacie is still loving school! She went to school for only 3 days and we ended up in the hospital with a temp. due to a virus. After her immunity level rose she went back to school only to have it drop again! She missed another day this week. We have sequestered ourselves for the week end once again in hopes of avoiding all germs!

She is feeling really well inspite of all of this! My baby is such a trooper.

Saturday, August 17, 2002 at 02:50 PM (CDT)

Wednesday was the first day of school in Glenpool! Both Kayla and Jacie were excited to go. Jacie is loving every minute of school! She has been up with her back pack on ready to go at 7:00! She is SO strong. Of course I was a little apprehensive about letting her go, but I beleive it is definitley the best thing for her. Both of her teachers called me at home to let me know they would do their best to keep her happy and healthy. I am so very thankful that she is here and able to go to school. I feel so lucky! I am overwhelmed with thankfulness to all of you for the support and concern shown over the past 6 months.

Please don't forget....each day is wonderful gift from our Lord above!!!

Friday, August 09, 2002 at 03:04 PM (CDT)

This week's CBC really looked good! The oral methotrexate didn't cause a significant change in her ANC (Immunity Level). I am hopeful that she won't miss too many school days! She is so ready to start Pre-K! I think this will bring a little normalcy to her life.

We are having dinner tonight with our favorite nurse tech., Vanessa, from the hospital. I let the girls choose the restaurant...they chose Chucky Cheese!

Friday, August 02, 2002 at 03:36 PM (CDT)

Jacie had her 1st Methotrexate (oral chemo) yesterday at noon, 6:00 pm, Midnight and 6:00 am this morning. I have seen no side affects what so ever!

It was about all I could stand to watch her swallow those pills (7 1/2 at a time) while sitting on my bed, never even opening her eyes. I cant help but feel it is so unfair that she has to endure this. I just remind myself that God had blessed us from the very beginning of this and will continue to do so.

Everyone say a little prayer for Jacie, she starts pre kindergarden on August 14th. She is excited but I am nervous!

She had a physical examination on thursday. Dr A. said that she looks wonderful!

Kayla's top tooth is loose. I am sure her school pictures this year will have a toothless smile! :)

Wednesday, July 24, 2002 at 01:55 PM (CDT)

Today's CBC was the best we have seen yet! All of her counts were in the normal range!

This child is blessed!

Be sure to look at the new photos!!!

Monday, July 22, 2002 at 12:39 PM (CDT)

Hey Everybody!!

I just spoke with Jenny, Jacie's nurse, and she said that the spinal fluid and bone marrow looked perfect!!

We start the new oral chemo next week. She doesn't mind at all, as long as it means no more hospital!!

Keep her in your prayers!

Sunday, July 14, 2002 at 07:58 PM (CDT)

We did it!! We made it through 6 chemo. hospitalizations! Really, we were beginning to feel like St. Francis was our second home. I was holding back tears when we left. It was hard leaving the nurses and staff that we had grown to love and depend very much upon.

Michelle, Child Life Director, gave Jacie a going away party in the playroom. We had quite an amazing attendance! There were lots of other pediatric patients there, of course, Kayla and I were there, and Lonnie (the girls dad) and Noella, her daughter and niece. The playroom was decorated in pink streamers. We had Orange Sherbert (upon Jacies request) and silly string! You should have seen the place! It was a mess. Michelle gave Jacie a stuffed rabbit to help her remember Skippy (the hospital rabbit that hopped all over Jacie's bed and made her smile when she was feeling sad).

Dr. Kirkpatrick discharged us 6 hours early! We were thrilled. Jacie was packing the suitcase as fast as she could!

I took pictures at the party and I will post them soon!

We have to go back to the clinic this Wed. for a Bone marrow test, a spinal fluid test and blood work. The are end of course tests. We will be staring on another type of chemo (Mostly all oral Chemo) in two weeks.

Thank you all for posting in our guest book, we really enjoy reading them!!!!

Monday, July 08, 2002 at 02:10 PM (CDT)

I hope everyone had a wonderful and safe 4th of July Holiday!

We had a cook out at home on the 4th and make home made ice cream and then went to Skiatook to do our fireworks! We had a great time! On Friday, I took the girls to see Lilo and Stitch. I had been promising to do that as soon as Jacie's counts rebounded.

Well, finally....it is here! The FINAL hospitalization! We go in on Wednesday. It tears my heart out to think back over the past few months and what Jacie has had to endure. I do know that she is much stronger for it now. And Kayla has had to endure her own set of trama and emotions. But we are stonger, closer and no longer take things for granted

I will try to post again next week to let you know how our LAST stay was!

Love you All!!

LeAnna

Friday, June 28, 2002 at 01:18 PM (CDT)

I took some pictures at work today!! They are now posted in the photo album.

Jacie's immunity level is pretty low. She will be at work with me until Wed. of next week. Hopefully the blood test that day will be better. She misses Ella and the kids so bad. She told me on the way to the clinic this Wed. "Mommy, Ya know, Leukemia really stinks!" A bit of good news...her hair is really growing back! She is really happy about that! Just take a look at the pictures...my baby is beautiful with or without hair! I am sure you all will agree!

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

LeAnna

I added some photos from last week at the hospital! Enjoy!!!

Monday, June 24, 2002 at 02:09 PM (CDT)

One more behind us! I can't believe how fast time is going. We are down to one more hospital stay. You guys are probably sick of hear that! Using our "countdown" has helped us get thru this.

I had voiced concern about Jacie having a slight memory problem to the Oncologist and he agreed with me that we should do a cat scan just to be on the safe side. I received the results back on the test today. She has a slight case of sinusitis and everything else is NORMAL!! Thank you Lord!

We had a big surprise from Grandma Betty while we were in the hospital...A puppy! She is a 2 month old Apricot, toy poodle named (by Kayla) AnnaBelle. I will post pictures as soon as they are developed.

Jacie is feeling really good since the treatment..her immunity level is a little compromised right now but everything else looks good!

Monday, June 17, 2002 at 09:12 AM (CDT)

Jacie will be back in the hospital on Wednesday for chemotherapy. This is our next to the last hospital stay! It amazes me how time flies! We are in our 6th month of treatment! My baby is so strong and brave. She is handling this really well.

Aunt Dana is coming to stay with us while we are in the hospital. I am so thankful for her! It is so wonderful to have our own personal RN! I don't know how I would have handled this without her by my side!
At diagnosis she was right there listening to the Oncologists and asking questions when it was too much for me to take in.
She is the most wonderful sister and friend in the whole world!

**A Special THANK YOU to Uncle Danny, D.J. and Shelby for sharing Dana with us over the past few months. I love you guys**

Monday, June 03, 2002 at 01:55 PM (CDT)

I added some new photos today!

Jacie has been feeling pretty good since her treatment last week. She is a little weak and pale, but for the most part doing ok.

Other than a trip to the library, we stayed home all weekend. I was afraid it was too hot to get her out so I let the girls play in the sprinker after the sun set. Just call me a paranoid mother!

She is back with me at work this week and eating ribs right now!! She thinks she has to eat ribs everyday when she comes to work with me.

Monday, May 27, 2002 at 04:49 PM (CDT)

The prayers worked!!

Jacie's counts were a lot better than I had expected! She was thrilled to go back to Noella's! She really missed playing with the other children. I have to admit that I do miss her under my feet while I work!

Thank you for the prayers and support!

She is so proud of herself because she learned to whistle this week! She is adorable!!!

Kayla's last day of 1st grade is May 21 and believe me...she is ready! It is amazing how much she has learned this year! She can read just about anything you give her now! My babies are growing up so fast!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

Jacie was quite a trooper during our hospital stay! She had her picture taken on the Hospital Helicopter. I will post it as soon as I have the pictures developed.

Jacie is at work with me today talking non stop and eating Taco Bell for lunch! I guess that tells you all that she is feeling great!

Only 3 more hospital stays to go!!
