Nathan Allen

Nathan at Camp Cheerful Spring Break 2011

Journal

Another Nathan Day has been thoroughly enjoyed!! Today is the seventh anniversary of the day our lives changed forever. We started the day with Uncle Adie, Papa, Uncle Ron and Jake at the house so we could go pick up drywall for our attic renovation (doesn't sound like a lot of fun), Nathan got to stay home and play his Wii with Jake and Uncle Adie. Then Scott arrived to begin the days festivities with Birthday presents for Dad and gifts for our boy! We, of course, went to McDonald's where Nathan was going to allow us to sit by the TV instead of in the playland cause that's where he "lets" his Dad sit when it's just the two of them. When we told him we would sit in the playland area he said "Okay, but if you get bored, don't come crying to me". Sometimes I just cannot believe the things that come out of his mouth. After McDonald's we went to see Hop -- Nathan sat through the movie so good. I usually put him on my lap and whisper what's happening in his ear, but he didn't need to do that this time. Toward the end of the movie he asked to sit on my lap which made me realize again how special he is -- what other 10 year old wants to sit on their mom's lap during a movie? After the movie he decided he should go to his Dad's house to play with the neighbors cause they've never seen him on Nathan Day! Scott brought him home and after his shower we sat on the couch and cuddled and watched Big Time Rush together. It's not the most exciting day ever, but it was all what Nathan wanted to do...which is why it's Nathan Day!!

Nathan is doing amazing in school, reading more, doing better in math and really enjoying his time with his friends. I bowl with one of the women who works at the school and she told me two weeks ago that Nathan has a girlfriend, but she isn't sure who it is yet. Hope to see her tomorrow to find out...Nathan hasn't told me yet.

He is enjoying another year with the Amherst Special Olympics. He got to help end the biggest losing streak cheering for the Cavs in February, play softball, basketball -- Nathan got first place in the LCCC Skills Competition this year, golf, ride in a pony drawn chariot during the Homecoming Parade and many other great events. Track starts this week to get ready for the Elyria Track Meet in May.

Today I Googled his site's address and found a ton of posts from the CruiseAddicts message board from 2004. I was in tears reading how all of these wonderful people were praying for and celebrating all of Nathan's accomplishments. It helped me to remember how many lives Nathan has touched and what awesome people are out there...even ones who had never met him! Thank you again, to everyone who has prayed for Nathan!!

Love,
Colleen
