PROTECT MY DAUGHTER....
Angel, stay with my daughter through the night, wrap her in your loving wings of white. Hold her close, and never let her go. I ask you to protect her, because I love her so. Like you, she's pure of heart, you see, she will always be the greatest gift that Heaven sent me!!

Monday, May 18, 2009 Thank you for continuing to check on Harlei. We've been busy with school, softball, appointments, physical therapy and enjoying the nice weather. Harlei is doing so good in physical therapy. I'm so proud of her! She tries her best and if she's having an off day she still keeps going and working. She doesn't like me to brag about her so for now I have to leave it as you'd be proud of her too. :) The surgery still isn't scheduled. The drs told us over a month ago they don't recommend waiting until September as planned but it might just have to be that way. The scheduler is having trouble getting both drs schedule to coordinate. She said she'd have to move around some things and fit her in. I said no I didn't like them to just "fit her in" This is a big deal and I want it planned and both drs to be fully focused and not have her just thrown in the schedule to appease doing it in May. So the scheduler said then it wouldn't be until August since 1 dr is booked until then. I said well then August it is. We will be there 3 weeks. (hint-hint to family for visits)Both drs said we could wait until August. So we are planning it now. It's taking so long to plan and schedule b/c both drs need to be there and cleared out for the day for the big surgery and 5 days prior 1 of them has to put on the halo brace. Whatever day it is it was meant to be on that day. I try to think and look for the positive. My mom was diagnosed last week with lung cancer. So maybe there is a reason we couldn't get the surgery scheduled in May. Maybe we would of been away when she was diagnosed and starting treatments?? Maybe she would of been worried about Harlei and dismissed symptoms and not went to the dr??
Harlei had a great birthday! She wanted to watch the football draft at TJ's and family and friends came too. She wears her glasses in the morning and it seems to help. Saturday marked 8 years to the day of diagnosis. I never thought we'd make it past day 1. I feel very blessed for everyday and want 80 more years! Please keep praying for Harlei.
