Erika
As a mom of an adult special needs young man, (My Eric, who has Cerebral Palsy is now 34)my heart was truly touched by your story. As Evan grows he'll know how special he is and God will give you the right words because HE gave Evan to you in the first place. You are a special, blessed mom.

Dear Erika,
Thank you for sharing these words; I will pray that Evan's heart will be open to accept healing or not healing. He's such a smartie and understands so much; he has so much perception! Your family is beautiful and again I am so blessed to be walking this road with you - God knew that I would need you and vice versa.
Love, Carrie :)

Congratulations on the new addition to the family, Erika and Carl. I hope Evan is more enthusiastic about his little sister by now. We've been out of state and I just read the news. May all go well as Evan and Andrew adjust to being big brothers, and baby sister settles in with the family.
My prayers remain with you.

Dear Carl, Erika, Evan and Andrew,
We haven't checked your caring bridge page for awhile, so
it was such fun to see new pictures of your house and your
handsome sons!! We pray for you often and continue to enjoy having Carl's parents nearby. They were just over
for dinner the other night. Allan helped us with some
electrical work in our new condo. As always, we enjoyed
being with them. Your whole family seems in a state of
change with new homes being built, etc. God bless you
all as you celebrate Christmas and into the New Year!!
With love and prayers, Dennis and Judy

Hi there Mr. Evan and Mr. Andy- Looks like you have a nice friend from ABC Evan. Are you going to watch yourself on TV on Labor Day? Your new house is being built very quickly- we hope we can come and see it and you before long. We talked with two parties today that still have some interest in buying our house here so we can move to Akron. We keep praying for all of you. You would have laughed this morning to watch Baxter try to sneak up on a rabbit in the back yard this morning. The rabbit was too fast and ran away.Love Grandpa Weise

Dear Erika,
Your whole family, especially Evan, have been in my prayers and even more now. I'm praying that this is just a glitch and Evan will be back up to speed soon! Unfortunately God, our Ultimate Parent, has plans that we can't see RIGHT NOW, when we want answers and then sometimes we don't understand what is right in front of us. We can only trust His plans. Know you have many out here praying. I did tell LOGOS Class about your concerns on Sunday too.

Keep trusting Jesus to take good care of you...just for today. Tomorrow will take care of itself. We are excited that Ann & Aaron are moving to Akron. That means we may get to see YOU more often. We send you our love.

Hi Evan
Good to hear that you were teasing your nurse a little last week. All good nurses need a little levity in their daily routine. We hope you are getting a new night nurse soon and that your teachers at preschool will still have something left to teach you that you don't already know. Today I told one of our HCJB doctors from Ecuador who was here today, about your diaphragm working some again. He was so glad to hear that and said that we both know that God is working, even if some other doctors might just say "it's just happening". Love Grandpa Weise

Good for you! When our David had his seizure disorder a doctor told us he should not be allowed to swim. He had already been in pools (and the Mississippi River)! Hi Evan:
Your pictures look like you enjoyed the parade. Tell your Mom and Dad to talk plainer-- earrings and airplanes are not quite the same. They sound like a couple who served me a special cheesecake last weekend when I visited them. When the wife brought it to the table, I thought the man told his wife that we needed some sherry topping for it. When she brought it to the table I was relieved to find out I had misunderstood his heavy Swedish accent-- he meant cherry topping.
We are looking forward to seeing all of you soon on our trips to NY. You will meet lots of new relatives and get to see where your Dad grew up, as well as your cousins from Columbus. We enjoyed hearing you say hello and that you love us last weekend on the phone. Good job!

Hello to the Weise Family....We have not visited your web page in quite a while and noticed that there were no entries from Clymer, NY. I just wanted you to know that the folks back in Carl's home town are still thinking about you. Your name appears frequently in community Bible studies and is well known at Necker's Company!!!!! Hey Erika,
That is so funny that Evan is calling you Mi-Mi. . .Maybe he is just hinting that he wants his hair stylist "Mimi" to come over:) I think that you guys do such a wonderful job of making Evan feel special. I'm sure he just feels honored to have you as parents. . .that in itself lets him know how truly special he is.
take care,

Hi there Evan, Erika and Carl. It has been a little while, I should probably come visit again soon. Evan is getting so big and is still as cute as ever! The ultrasound pictures are amazing!..and again Congratulations. I'm glad to hear you are finally beginning to receive some answers to the questions you've been asking for a long time. I think it would be great if you, as a family, were picked for the doctor's research study. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers and will plan to visit again soon. Give Evan hugs and kisses for me!!

Hi Evan, Erika, and Carl,
Haven't said hello on this site for a while. It sounds like you are building up your supply of spizerinktum quite nicely, as all boys should. Are you liking to taste food any better these days? If not tell your mom to put a little salt on those carrots- they'll taste a lot better-- or else have her buy some good pudding. We wish we lived closer.
Love,
Grandpa W.

How delightful to hear of Evan's fun and mischieviousness! Sounds like he is having a great time keeping his parents a little off keel but very amused. What a delightful little guy he is! Seems to me I remember hearing some similar type stories about his maternal grandfather when he was his age.

Hi Evan, I just heard about you from a friend, and I have come to visit you at your web page. I will pray for your healing, Evan, and that God's Holy Angels will surround you, minister to you and protect you. God's Word is true, and He said that you have already been healed by the stripes of Christ Jesus, our Beloved Lord and Savior, {Isaiah 53:5; 1 Peter 2:24; and in Matthew 18:19 God's word says that if two [or more]of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in Heaven}, and that is good enough for me and you to stand upon. With so many people praying and believing God to perform His Word, it is sure to happen. I pray God to bless you sweetheart, abundantly, in Jesus Name. Dear Carl,Erika and Evan,
I was sorry to hear about Evan's problems this past weekend. My mother told me just after church yesterday. I talked with Mary Jane and she said that your tests were normal and you would probably be able to come home in a few hours. Praise God that you are doing better!! I will pray that they are able to find an agreeable formula for Evan and that he will again be feeling more like himself. I will pray specifically that you will both get the rest you need and continue to feel God's strength and comfort, now more than ever.

I am so very sorry to hear about your denial for Medicaid, I don't think that's right at all. That makes me so angry and frustrated. I also hope that you will finally get some answers when you meet with the specialist. I will be thinking of you and please feel free to call on me if you need anything at all!!! I truly mean it. I miss him so much, but I'm so glad he is doing well. He is a very cute and smart little guy. I know you are both so good at it, but continue to stay positive. You definitely have one of the strongest fighters I know. He is a great little guy. I wish you all the best and will hopefully be able to see you all very soon. Please give him big hugs and kisses for me. You two also deserve a very big hug!!

We are remembering the judge in the New Testament who threw up his hands and gave in to the persistent woman. We are praying with you for endurance and a quick and happy conclusion! Carl, Erika, (and Evan),
Just a note to let you know we continue to pray for you and to let you know that folks here often ask about you and to let me know they are praying for you. We attended Moody Church last Sunday and were so encouraged by the service--"like church should be". The music and congregational singing was so good and the pastor shared a great sermon about Christ walking to the disciples on the water followed by Peter asking if he could also walk to Christ. We know he ended up doing this by faith, in the midst of the storm they were in. The pastor mentioned that though the disciples found themselves in a storm, they had been directed to cross the lake by the Lord himself, so that he could show them in a new way who He really was, by showing his power over the forces of creation, and that we and our circumstances are always in His eye and mind.(I'm sure that Jesus didn't have to hunt around the Sea of Galilee in the darkness to find them, as he knew exactly where they were all the time.) MJ bought a copy to share with you sometime. You've already heard from a new praying friend who she met while waiting to buy the tape. Stay encouraged! Ps 91:1 Love Dad Weise

To Evan's Parents,
The Lord blessed me this past Sunday as I was visiting Moody Memorial Church in Chicago. After hearing one of the best sermon's I've ever heard delivered by Dr. Erwin Lutzer entitled "Hope in Times of Trouble", I met Evan's grandmother standing in line waiting to purchase a cassette tape. This dear, gentle, caring woman told me some of what you have been going through. My heart was so touched as I have been through similar trials having lost both of my sisters a few years ago, one from cancer and one from a severe form of juvenile diabetes. Know that you are in my prayers and in my families' prayers. We are praying for a miracle, for a cure, and for a complete recovery. I am confident that God will give you the strength to endure this trial. Take comfort, dear friends, that God is at work and knows exactly what you need, even if turns out to not be what you want. I found and continue to find great comfort in James 1:2-4, 12.

May God Bless Precious Evan and Your Entire Family,
In Christ,

Hello Evan!!
I work with your Daddy, but in the Upper Arlington office.
I wanted to wish you a belated Happy Happy Birthday and let you know I will be praying for you each day and especially on August 11th.
I was lucky enough to see your letter on our office printer (yes, I snooped when I saw the beautiful little boy) and could not help but to check out your website. I hope you don't mind....
You are one very lucky little boy. You have so many people that love you so much and hold you and your parents so close to their hearts.
I will be checking back to see your sweet little face and read the new entries on how you are doing.
Heather :)

Hi Evan, Carl and Erika
We've just enjoyed a visit by Eric, Jill and kids and they had supper here with us. Sounds you are growing a strong set of breathing muscles Evan--- 37 minutes---great and PTL! Glad you have the generator for a little peace of mind and backup. If you haven't called the Electic Co., I think I would, just to inquire what the power outages were caused by(maintainence or accident?) and tell them why you're inquiring. I think that your generator will run up to about 8-10 hrs on 5 gal of gas if you ever had a long outage. We love you all-- keep up the great work.

Greetings to you dear people in Columbus! I look forward daily reading the reports on Evan on the internet. Evan's mom sure does a great job sharing and we appreciate it so much. Thank you for giving us glimpses into your lives. I think learning the sign language will be so beneficial. I know there are "signing videos" for children on the market--I am sorry I don't know the exact names of the videos.

When I read these great reports, I am reminded again and again of the chorus Pastor Ashton taught the TWR staff on Bonaire years ago--"One Step More--Lord, give me grace for one step more!"

Erika, Carl & Evan,
Erika, I met you as a young girl and have not seen you since, but have kept up with your life through your Aunt Pam & Uncle Bob in Indiana. Pam told me about your struggles, challenges and faith with Evan. I will pass on your story to people I know so that the prayer chain gets stronger and stronger.
Thank you so much for sharing your story, otherwise I wouldn't have had an opportunity to let you know I care and am praying for you.
Remember always ... Even though we sometimes don't agree with Him, God never gives us more than we can handle.

Dear Erika, Carl & Evan,
It was wonderful to visit you last week with Mom. We were blessed by Evan's joy and his wonderful sense of humor (blinking before the camera flash!). God is touching and softening many hearts through Evan and your abiding love and trust. There are many here in Maryland praying for you. Thank you for sharing your lives with us. God is good!

C&E,
Good to talk with you again last night - we must have hung up shortly before you received the news regarding Medicaid. We will be certain to add this to our personal prayer list and also that of our SS class. Just visited your web page for the first time - I was struck by how much Evan is resembling Carl. Give him a squeeze for me. -Tom

Carl and Erika,
What a beautiful boy. I'm sorry that I've not yet had the pleasure of meeting him. Everyone who has met him reports that he is a tremendously charming young man(I suspect he gets it from both sides of the family).
Love To All,

Carl and Erika~
I continue to pray for you all. My prayer is twofold...praise to our Father for His grace towards you which can be carved so deeply into your hearts without even knowing it at times and without even having to ask for it. :) And for you all...to daily know this grace in tangible ways so that you can cling to the hope that is found in His kindgom plans and His lovingkindness -even when questions abound. Lots of love to each of you! cousin Jennifer Frazier

Hey,
Just want to let you all know that we are praying for you all and evan. We hear about him and how special he is all the time so it is nice to see pictures. God designed evan's every cell, he knows exactly what is going on down to the last molecule. He can choose to heal or not, because he knows the plans he has for evan and he will display his works in evan's life. John 9:3

Hi,
Lani Tower told me about your website. I know personally what a blessing it is to get encouraging words from those who love you and support you in this difficult time. May God richly bless you and provide for every need- physical, emotional, and spiritual. I will add you to my prayers as you search for medical answers for this child of promise. With God all things are possible. If God be for you, who can be against you? Thank you for opening this website so others may give the gift of encouragement to a hurting member of the body of Christ.

Dear Evan,
You are so adorable! Our big boy, David, has had some health struggles in his lifetime, too. I think that God gives boys like you and our David special, easy-going temperments as a special blessing in the midst of challenging circumstances.

What a beautiful boy! I am pleased to meet you Evan. God's "story" for you may be different than anyone expected but He will use you mightily. What an awesome testimony you will tell someday. God promises strength for today and we rest in that truth. Remember Psalm 107:35

Being Evan's grandparents we "may" be prejudiced but we think he is a really special boy. His mom and dad are equally special! God is good and, no matter what Evan's condition, He loves Evan more than any of us do. We suspect that, in some way, Evan knows that.
