To our beautiful daughter's web page.
Jessica Annaleise Evans - A perfect 'little lady'.
As a baby Jess was perfect weighing 6pounds 5ounces and just the happiest baby any new parents could wish for. As she got older Jess learnt everything we taught her easily and just loved being outdoors with her pet cow 'daisy' and playing like any other toddler. With big green eyes, Jessica is bubbly, friendly and always smiling. At the age of 21months on the 26th September, 2002, after a noticeable limp and further tests, Jessica was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma Stage 4. She had a tumor on her left adrenal gland and it had spread to other areas including her knee (fractured knee was cause of limp). Jess was put on a clinical trial COGANBL00P1. Our lives had changed forever from this day on. Jess underwent many rounds of chemotherapy, then followed surgery, two stem cell transplants, radiation and 6 months of Accutane. Jess's treatment went for a long time, and in this time her baby brother Jayden was born. This cheered Jess up so much as Jayden was born while Jess was having her second stem cell transplant and was not a well cookie. Jess did not like being away from home but finally we had some good news Jess was in remission!!! We were so happy and finally going home after living at the Ronald McDonald House for so long. At home Jess was thriving and loving life with her baby brother and being so loving and gentle natured she always had a cuddle for Dad & Mum. Jess lived life to the fullest and was always busy whether she was doing a jigsaw or racing around in her barbie car she was always laughing and smiling. Jess fought and won many battles along the journey of her treatment, but agressive natured the cancer came back after months of remission. Jess had a lesion in her right arm. We set out on salvation chemotherapy but this did not hold the cancer at all, it was spreading. As Jess was not 4 she did not qualify for 'Make A Wish' so luckily our friends, family and community helped fundraise for us to take Jess on her wish to Queensland to Sea World to meet a Dolphin and splash and play with it. Jess loved it and also met Tweety Bird and Daffy Duck at Movie World and The Rug Rats and Spongebob Squarepants at Dream World. Before we left Jess was given local radiation to her arm to relieve her from pain whilst away. Not long after returning home Jess's condition worsened. We set out to have a big party for Jess as we knew she would probably not make it to her 4th Birthday, we had a merry go round, pony rides and a fun day all round. Jess and her friends loved the party. In the next few weeks Jess was becoming more and more unwell we knew she was fighting hard to stay with us. We hated watching our little girl's life being taken away from us by this nasty cancer, but ultimately it was out of our hands, as long as she was comfortable at home and knew we were there with her all the time was all that mattered. Finally Jess closed her eyes and stopped fighting on the 20th October, 2004 aged 3 almost 4. Our pain will never go away and our memories will grow fonder every day. I dedicate this page to you my darling girl and will fill it with love and honour. Rest in peace our Angel, forever young. You are and always will be our baby and we know you are with us always.

How does this happen to such a gorgeous little girl,we will never know, and will always wonder why her,why our beautiful daughter. But one thing we have learnt from our daughter Jessica is that you must never give up.Jess proved this time and time over again.Every time she was hit with another blood test, more chemotherapy, more anisthetic, scans, surgery, radiation, finger pricks hourly during the night, nausea, temperatures, isolation, months in hospital she just soldiered on and NOT once I mean NOT once did she ever complain.I have never before seen someone, yet so young, be so brave and put up such a fight. To have seen this all through your eyes must have been so scary and painful. You must have wondered why you couldn't be at home and why we took you there,to hospital in the first place I know you understood the many things we told you.You were so intelligent and advanced as most children in hospital are, refined to their beds and therefore learning is an all day, every day thing.Jess you were exceptionally special with your cheeky smile and loving embrace. As hard as it is to accept you have gained your wings and had your childhood and many years of life ahead of you taken away I know you will be living them without suffering now and that you have many family members around you.Jayden is growing up to be so much like you it's unbelievable, sometimes it makes me cry because he sounds exactly like you or looks at us like you did,we will love and cherish every moment like that forever.Always close and in our hearts.LOVE you to the stars and back again and again and again and forever.
The brightest star and the prettiest angel is you bub.***
