Hey there. It has been a long time since I has been a while since I have been by your site, and sometime since I heard from you. I just had to finally write and say hello. I miss hearing from you, but I am glad to see that you seem to be doing OK. I know you must miss your mom tremendously, but I can not help but think of how proud she must be of you; looking down from heaven at her beautiful, loving daughter who cares so for others. i will include your auntie maureen in there next to my mom whom i found out had breast cancer 2 weeks after alice died. she's had surgery twice and radiation. now they're doing some kind of chemo. she says she's fine but she has always lied when it comes to telling her kids about dad's or her own health.

I've been here before and had the urge to return when I saw your post in one of the caringbridge guestbooks. I also know that you had been in contact with my good friend Margaret, who passed from ovarian cancer on Oct 9. I saw that you posted about her on Oct 11, and I was very touched to read your entry. I know that you know all too well the heartache..
her sister Kathleen bought me a bracelet for Christmas, and it was part of a fundraiser for the Ovarian Cancer Society. Very cool.

Anyways I wanted to thank you for all your kindness.. and I will pray for your aunt too.

hey there sweet pea :)

i know exactly how you feel, only instead of not having any family nearby, i am without my best friends. i don't really have family either because we're not close. for as long as i can remember i have anticipated this time of year by making all my famous sweet treats to take to my friends and sometimes to family. this year is so awful; no one to bake for.

i remember how very grateful to God we all were this time last year because alice was considered cancer free. what a difference a year can make. september 8th; how ironic she would die that day. we are forever linked.

i can be truly grateful that at least some of my prayers for the wellness of others has been granted; like you and laura in budapest, and my daughter's cousin molly (which is where my involvement with caringbridge began 2 or was it 3 years ago). there are many others as well, but too many have left us and too many are still so very ill. i'm taking a break from it all.

before you know it karen and dean and adrian will be back and you will have no more peace and quiet. enjoy the space while you can and venture into something novel and new all on your own. then you will have stories to tell when they're home again.

sounds like your week end wasn't much better than mine. in fact, yesterday after work i crawled into bed, pulled the covers up over my head, and didn't come out till morning. i didn't pull up the blinds, answer the phone or even get the mail. dealing with those you love in the depths of despair, death, or dying takes a real toll on you - the whole you (physical, mental, spiritual, emotional). you just have to take days where everything gets rested. i'm a little better today.

in response to your life's goals and/or ambitions, you are just NOT going to figure it out the same as your peers because of what you have been through. you know the value of time and energy and your struggle is one of making sure your's is well spent. that's very good and will take some careful thought and investigation. But LIKE your peers, your age will have you constantaly changing your mind - that's very normal

my baby girl managed to finish her 1st year at college but just barely. then she moved away; not far but she's now talking about quitting school, putting her stuff in storage and going very far away, like europe. keep her in your prayers.

hope you have a good weekend. here in cincy when we have cold blasts (and even when we don't) everyone puts on a big pot of chili. we have lots of chili restaurants, chili cookoffs, chili recipes, this town is crazy for chili :)

Dearest Fairygodmother,
I know the feeling about not getting around to the sites to sign in, I'm in my very busy season!!! I really miss it, but my hours are long and I try to get home at night to spend a little time with the boys. Also, I know the strength and support it takes to get thru the career programs. I went to college and flight training school to become an airline pilot, and wow, it was extremely tough!!! But, you do what ever it takes if that is what you really want! I flew as an airline pilot several years before taking over the family awning business 10 years ago. Even though I didn't stay in that career, I do not regret the schooling and rigerous training I went through. Adrian, hang in there!!! It will all be over before you know it, and you will have something to be very proud of!!! Hope all is well with everyone in your neck of the woods, as things are moving along here. Cameron is now 5, and Colton turned 1. I just love them sooo much, and if possible, miss Colby even mooore!!!!! Take care, and as always, sending lots of love from above!

this is such a difficult time for our family right now :(
so sorry you missed the fiesta with Franklin; i know you would have loved it. i wouldn't be here today if it weren't for his father. Rev. Dr. Billy Graham had a crusade here in Cincy which my mom attended. it was at that crusade that she gave her heart to Jesus when she was just a teen. she then went on to Emmaus Bible School in Toronto, Canada where she then gave her heart to my dad. They married in 1950, had twins in '51 and me a year later (on the same day!!!) They had 4 more kids after that and now have about 20 grandchildren and BABY CHASE is their 6th great grandchild. we celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in the year 2000. they have been through many trials and tribulations but God has seen them through them all. i have never seen their faith fail them.

enjoy your last days of summer; it's time for you to give it up to us poor sods on the other side of the planet. it's been such a looooooooooong winter here but we are finally seeing the first signs of spring. i can't wait; it never comes soon enough for me.

i can so relate to it right now
i was so hopeful and positive that all the bad stuff was behind us and it was just a matter of getting those legs dancin' again . . .
right now i feel so all alone yet i don't want to be around anybody or say anything. i feel like my prayers are pointless and futile; i just don't understand
i feel like i'm totally missing out on life - everyone else seems to be out having a good time while i spend all my time either in a stinkin'hospital cancer ward or alone in my room on my knees
it all just sucks :(

YOU however, have been such a blessing :)
