Zach was born March 2, 1989, healthy at 9 lb. 10 oz.! At 5 years old, he was diagnosed with a brain tumor. After it was removed, he needed extensive hospitalization and rehab. In 1999 we found the tumor had returned and also spread through the cerebral-spinal fluid. Zach was started on chemotherapy and one of the drugs caused nerve damage to his legs and he's been in a wheelchair since then. Another drug caused vision loss. Through it all, he never complains and he just "Keeps on Keepin' On"! He is a hero and inspiration to many! Zachary is an amazing young man who is now 20. He is celebrating his 15th year as a brain tumor survivor! His favorite color is red. He likes to bowl, read, and collect yu-gi-oh cards. He is in a weekly art class for people with disabilities and just sold his first piece of artwork! Please stop by often and be sure and sign the guestbook so Zachary will know you were here to visit.

Thursday, July 2, 2009 8:43 AM CDT HAPPY 4th OF JULY!! As usual, we are going to a wonderful party at my aunt and uncle's house on a lake. This is something we all really look forward to each year.
This past week, Zach got his new AFO (leg brace). Not sure if it will work out or not. We have to keep an eye on it. This was made due to his foot surgery back in March. We have decided to stop with the TENS unit. Not sure if it had any benefits or not on Zach's face, but it was starting to hurt him, so we stopped.
He also got his picture taken this week for the yearbook. He will be a senior in the Fall. That was kind of exciting! Can't wait to see the proofs and choose his photo. It's been a long, hard road for Zach, but he has always perservered and worked as hard as he could. I am so, so proud of him for everything!
