Dearest Barb, Sam, and Sammy: The house is too quiet, we are missing you three already, and we hope that you are off to a good new start, and a smoothe and uneventful flight home to the arms of your friends and family. Thank you for permitting us to share in this very special moment, and congratulations to you for searching out only the best that Colombia had to show you. It is obvious from our farewell last night that you are leaving a little piece of your heart here with us. Not to continue the "mush", just wanted to welcome you home, (and tell you that Barb's roses are in full "droop" today. Big cyberspace hug to you three. Rafael and Betty Castillo

Sam, Barb & Sammy,

Enjoy your last few days in Colombia. It has been such fun living you experiences with you through your journal. Sam you should be a writer.

Tell Betty she looked beautiful at the Mothers Brunch, as did Barb. Betty is a jewel and she is forever in our hearts once we all return home. Give her & Annette a special hug from the Anderson's.

Glad to see you will make it home for Arbour Day. It just would not have been the same without its biggest supported.

We are all looking forward to seeing our newest member of the WNY FANA Group. We will be there on Thursday.

Dear Mr & Mrs Super-Techno,

So glad to hear that you have signed and that you are preparing to come home. We laughed all the way through your latest entry. I guess you need to live with the Antonio's for a while to fully appreciate that very, very warped Sam Antonio humor!

By the way, you cannot fool us - there is no way you are becoming techno-savvy. We know you better than that! We would put money on the fact that it was little Sammy (our future son-in-law according to Barb) who set up the slide show! We don't care how much time you spend in Colombia.....we've seen techno-challenged people before, but you guys.....well let's just say that it would take longer than 4 weeks in Colombia for the two of you to get up to speed!

And by the way, the one question they did ask us in Toronto when they found out we were coming from Colombia, was if we knew the Antonio's? We were really taken aback, until they showed us this poster on the wall and it was a picture of Sam in a pink tutu! We said we didn't know you and they let us go. Sam, we're not sure what that was about, and we don't care! What you do on your own time is your business!

On a serious note, we very much enjoyed our time together with you and getting to know you. You are super, super people and we mean that from the bottom of our hearts. Hopefully all your remaining paperwork will go smoothly. Enjoy the very few days you have left in Colombia and may God guide the three of you home safely. We will give you a call late next week so that we can catch up a little.

God bless,

Mario, Josie, Christian and Michaela

Sam, Sam, Sam,

So you broke down and went to Norberto's! Did you get a coffee, empanda, lemonade?! Did Norberto give you the complementary fingers through your hair before you left? What will your students say when they find out about this?

Just because I'm back in Canada doesn't mean that I can't tease you just the same!

Isss my playzure!

Hi Sam and Barb,
It sounds like you had a great adventure in Cartagena!! Your ride in the stalled car brought back memories of our adventure in the taxi cab that broke down in the busy traffic of Bogota. We can laugh now at recalling the sight of Jim and driver pushing the cab over 7 lanes of traffic, but at the time we couldn't say our prayers fast enough!!!

We are looking forward to meeting Sammy and seeing you both again really soon. Take care and God bless!!! We hope to read news shortly that you have received word that you can sign and start plans to head back to Buffalo!!

Hi Antonio Family,

As you said in your journal entry, seeing FANA and the children does hit home as to what the Golf Tournament is all about. FANA is such a special place and we have all been blessed by Mercedes and FANA's mission.

Dear FANA friends,

We feel it is our duty to update everyone on the saga of the Technologically Challenged Family, The Antonio's. Today in the residence the battery conflict continued. Sam, Big Sam, as he's referred to at a Bogota establishment, tried to change some batteries in a swing for Little Sammy. He was so proud, he had his screw driver and new batteries. However, in the end the batteries proved to be his enemy, AGAIN!!!!

As for right now, Sam and Barb said they were going to Carulla, a grocery store across the street, so we're watching Little Samuel. But as Sam and Barb walked out, we could have sworn we heard Sam say that this was a Viagra night!

Good night from Bogota

Sammy and your Mommy and Daddy:

It is so great that your Mommy and Daddy allow us to read about you in their daily diary entries--it makes it all so "real" for us here at home. Your parents are very funny and its obvious you can look forward to a great family life with much love and laughter when you come back home here to Buffalo. We so look forward to meeting you and seeing those big smiles of pride I can just imagine on your parents faces. You probably have no idea how much love and hope you have already given to so many people in your few months and may you always have that effect on the people you come in contact with throughtout the rest of your life.Good Life, Good Health, and Much Happiness to you Sammy and your parents!

Dear Sam and Barb (aka Mr & Mrs Technologically Challenged),

It's so great to be down here with you - you guys are great! Little Sammy is so lucky to have the 2 of you. Your love for him truly shows, and as he grows up he will come to understand exactly how much he means to you.

We believe however, that because of you each referral will now come with a FANA issued battery! Our late night chats filled with huge outbursts of laughter will eventually catch up to us, but it's great fun!

By the way Barb, it's great to see that you can show great restraint with the sweater lady.....for now! (LOL)

Hi Sam, Barb and Samuel,

We are so glad that everything is as wonderful as you have imagined it would be. You are certainly correct when you say how much sense things make when you look back.

I'm not sure what stores you tried when looking for your camcorder battery but there is a store in Unicentro called "LEY". It is a two level store at the far end of the mall (far end with respect to Betty's). Upstairs they have things for electronics (computers, cameras, ...). You may want to give them a try if you haven't already.

Continue to have a great time,

Dear Sam, Barb and Sammy,

I am so in awe of the gift of a child to those of us who have such strong desires to be a parent. You cannot help but know the hand of God in all of this. That thought keeps me calm when families are so eager to hear the news. Let go and let God is my mantra. And I too hope you dear Sam, are taller than your dad! May God bless your family as you travel to Bogota; may you learn about your son's country and remember it for him because you are the custodian of his life beginning. Don't ever forget that.

Dear Sam & Barb,
We rejoice with you in your joy of receiving Samuel. God has answered you as He did Hannah in 1 Samuel 1:27-28. "I prayed for this child and the Lord has granted me what I asked of Him. So now I give him to the Lord. For his whole life he will be given over to the Lord." Go with God and, as you raise him, we know you will teach him to hold God's hand, also!

Congratualtions!!!!!!
Your website has brought me back to 15 years ago, the year we traveled to bring our son, Christopher from Colombia. It was a blessed Christmas for us as it was for our daughter four years later. Your pictures around the house remind me of the day I was told the courts were on strike and I would not be allowed to pick up our son until after the holidays - six weeks more! I screamed and yelled and tore everything in the house apart. My husband found me crumbled in the nursery crying my eyes out. I was so sure our childless state was a punishment I was intended to endure a lifetime. Five days later the courts opened and we brought our son home for Christmas, chicken pox and all! Four years later we once again were told we would wait untill after the holidays. Not so many tears this time, but we brought our daughter home on Christmas Eve, the exact same day our son had arrived. They share their "special day". I am so excited for you!!!! You are in for the treat of your life. And it never stops! Your love and joy reminds me of those special times. Thank you for including us in your excitement by posting this website. Welcome Samuel Javier. You are about to make your parents very happy!

Dearest Samuel Javier Antonio, Someday when you see this, I want you to know that out of all the babies born on this earth, you were the most wanted, anticipated and loved by your sweet wonderful, courageous and dignified parents..Sam and Barb. Most children are loved, but your spirit was predestined to bring great joy on this earth..tell mom and dad to take you to the great redwood forests, hug a tree and remember the earth smiled the day you came into this world. I love your parents for being symbols of what is right with the universe...peace, little brother

Sam and Barb,

My wife and I are celebrating our 15 th anniversary of our adoption. We know all of the joys and the sorrows of adoptions. . We adopted a child with special needs (mainly emotional) who is now attending college and working full time in day care. I hope you have family support and that you join a support group of some sort. Attend to your needs as husband and wife , a child needs strong happy parents. I hope that next time you will consider assopting a special need child they need good parents like you.
Good luck and congratulations to you both.

Congratulations! What exciting news. I can't wait to meet Samuel Javier. I have a couple of playmates for him. I think he is going to like our family get togethers. I will start telling Stephen about Sammy and get him excited for our next visit. I know I sure am.

Miles bendiciones.
