Journal

Okay.....okay......I know.... It's been a really long time. Lots of changes in our household, but Lindsay remains in good health and is just a joy to us everyday. She started middle school in September and is just loving it. 2nd quarter report cards came home today and she has straight A's. She's making new friends and has some old ones in her homeroom class that she's been in girl scouts with since kindergarten. She's loving life and we're loving that she is still with us!

Ben is now in 9th grade. Hard to believe I have a child in high school. Where did the years go? He's going to be working at a cub scout camp over the summer and will only be home on weekends. I'm having a really tough time with that one. I know he has to grow up and leave the nest, but I wasn't quite ready for this little burst of independence.

Jaimee is in 7th grade and as full of drama as ever. She makes me smile everyday with her "my mom is so uncool" attitude, but she still likes being with me. Wonder how much longer that will last? :) She's in her 9th year of dance classes and has really come into her own. Such a beautiful young lady. I hope all my kids know how proud of them Dave and I are.

The biggest change for us is that after 14 years of being a stay home mom and doing daycare for the past 4 years, I have gone back to work outside of the home, full-time. I used to be a medical secretary before I had the kids and that's what I've gone back to doing, just at a different office. I used to work at a family practice and now work for an OB-GYN. Big difference. The first couple of weeks I wasn't quite sure it was going to work out, but it's much better now. I really miss my kids though. It's been a huge adjustment for all of us, but was financially necessary. The good part is that the kids are starting to become a little more self-sufficient. They have chores now and actually do their own laundry.

I still try and keep up with some of the children and families that continue to battle this horrible beast we call cancer. My heart still breaks for all the parents who hear those dreaded words when their child is first diagnosed and for those that lose their battle. I will ALWAYS hold a very special place in my heart for a certain few whom I felt like I actually knew, though I had never met them; Jeffery and his mom Julie, Seth and his mom Ruthie, Jake and his mom Chanda. My heart still aches every time I think of how little time their families had with them. So unfair....

I'll close with a thank you for all those that have continued to check-in on us even though there was such a long time between updates. Your love and support has meant the world to me.

God Bless!!
Kelley
