Hi Everyone!!

Welcome to Joey's WebPage. This has been provided to keep people updated about Joey's progress. Joey was born 01/02/03 happy and healthy, Thank you Dr.Onyebeke. During a routine checkup on July 18th, it was discovered that joey's liver was enlarged. (Thank you for everything Dr. Reilly & Dr. Ryzova). Further tests later that week proved that it was cancer. He was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, stageIVs, a cancer that originates in the sympathetic nervous system. On Aug 1st, Joe had surgery to remove his left adrenal gland and the lymph nodes associated with it.(Thank you to Dr. Coren & Dr. Bohrer). Only the Adrenal gland was removed because it was believed that the cancer in the liver would eventually peak then die off. Tests performed on the tumor proved that this was not the case. Chemotherapy would have to be done to rid his body of the cancer. A port for administering the chemotherapy would have to be implanted.We want to say Thank You to Dr. Weinblatt and everyone at the Cancer Center for Kids for everything they are doing for Joseph and our family.

WOW, a long time since I’ve updated Joey’s site. We have been very busy with a normal life. Joey follows up with his oncologist 2 times a year and he is doing great! Labs look great, no S/S of anything! Joey has also finished his early intervention speech therapy. Now days Joey enjoys pre-school, soccer and just having fun with his sisters, brother and friends.
We will continue to update as we can. Continue to pray for all the children and their families who are fighting cancer and other pediatric diseases.
