Bry, I was going to write you on my old myspace account but I don't remember my login at all! But anyways, I've been thinking about you lately. First of all I wanted to say thank you for looking out for me lately... I really appreciate it. Also, I miss you alot. I was faced with the tough question of, "Who do you look up to and why," the first week of school and had to prepare a speech on it. I thought long and hard about it and finally came to the conclusion that the person with the biggest influence on me was you. Your strength, courage, and sense of humor were just a few points I touched on. Just pretty much thanks for everything.

Love you and miss you tons,

Megan

Dear Tressler Family,

I was a Child Life Specialist at AMC. I enjoyed those clinic visits when Bryan was there. Always a good sport and willing! When the Beads of Courage was getting publicity I asked Bryan to show off some of his beads in a photo with me. He really wasn't that into the beads--but he did it b/c he knew it was helping me. I feel lucky to have known Bryan and his mom. Just thinking of you and your family and hope you all are doing well.

Bob & family,

May the past months' pain have dimmed some but the memories and love of Bryan only grown since he passed on May 8.

I frequently think of Bryan because a favorite song reminds me of him. Even though I never got to meet him in person, I feel lucky for having known him through his website, stories from the nurses and staff at UVM and the brief time I got to spend with you Bob at the UVM conference. I heard this song again the other day and I like to think that Bryan liked this song too even though it came out recently before he passed. I truly wish you and your family all the best this summer and always.

Peace,

Snow
By Red Hot Chili Peppers

Come to decide that the things that I tried
Were in my life is to get high on

When I sit alone come get a little long
But I need more than myself this time

Step from the road to the sea to the sky
And I do believe that we rely on

When I lay it on
Come get to play it on
All my life to sacrifice

Hey oh listen what I say oh
I got your
Hey oh now listen what I say oh

When will I know that I really can't go
To the well once more time to decide on

When it's killing me
When will I really see
All that I need to look inside

Come to believe that I better not leave
Before I get my chance to ride

When it's killing me
What do I really need
All that I need to look inside

Hey oh listen what I say oh
Come back and
Hey oh look at what I say oh

The more I see the less I know
The more I like to let it go... hey oh... woah woah woah

Deep beneath the cover of another perfect wonder
Where it's so white as snow

Privately divided by a world so undecided
And there's nowhere to go

In between the cover of another perfect wonder
And it’s so white as snow

Running through the field where all my tracks will be concealed
And there's nowhere to go

Oh

When to descend to amend for a friend
All the channels that have broken down

Now you bring it up
I’m gonna ring it up
Just to hear you sing it out

Step from the road to the sea to the sky
And I do believe what we rely on

When I lay it on
Come get to play it on
All my life to sacrifice

Hey oh listen what I say oh
I got your
Hey oh listen what I say oh

The more I see the less I know
The more I like to let it go... hey oh
woah woah woah

People need the cover of another perfect wonder
Where it's so white as snow

Privately divided by a world so undecided
And there's nowhere to go

In between the cover of another perfect wonder
Where it’s so white as snow

Running through the field where all my tracks will be concealed
And there's nowhere to go.

I said hey hey yeah... oh yeah,
Tell my love now
Hey yeah yeah oh yeah
Tell my love now
Deep beneath the cover of another perfect wonder
Where it's so white as snow
Finally divided by a world so undecided
And there's nowhere to go
Deep beneath the cover of another perfect wonder
Where it’s so white as snow

Running through the field where all my tracks will be concealed
And there's nowhere to go.

I said hey oh yeah... oh yeah,
Tell my love now

Celebrate~

I'd like to take some time and space in my blog to celebrate the life of this young man, Bryan Tressler. Bryan lost his battle with Cancer on Tuesday, May 8th. We received a call from the school to tell us of Bryan's passing and I had the difficult task of telling Bailey.
Bryan and his family moved here three years ago from down state. I remember Bailey telling me about him and how much she enjoyed him in class. She had a hard time understanding how someone her age would have cancer. Bailey has enjoyed watching Bryan and all he has done these past three years. She came home one day and told me that her classmates were collecting money to buy Bryan a snowboard and that they were all going to sign it. Bryan LOVED snowboarding and I have found out that he was a junior Instructor at the local slopes this winter! Bryan wasn't in school a lot but when he was, he made an impact. Bryan truly lived life. He walked his own path. He taught the kids at Granville High School to be exactly who they are and not worry what others may think.
Bryan's classmates and the community were has been devastated to hear that Bryan lost his battle. The school had counselors for the kids. Bailey asked me to go with her to the calling hours and asked her Grampa to go with her to pick out flowers. When we arrived at the funeral, the line was way down the street! His classmates along with parents, most of the school staff and so many others from this town. I was amazed at just how many people this young man had touched! As Bailey and I introduced ourselves, Bailey started to get teared up. Bryan's father told her to CELEBRATE his life and try not to be sad. We went through the memorial that Bryan's family had put together.. and yes, the snowboard with many signatures was among pieces and pictures of a young man that loved life!
Afterwords, we went across the street to the Church basement where everyone was having some refreshments. Not to long after we arrived, you could hear it start to thunder and rain. It poured so hard and then... it hailed. The hail came down sooo heavy that the lawns were white! Bailey and I looked out and I told Bailey that I think this is Bryan! He made it snow, the best way he could so that we would all know he was near!
Bryan's funeral was lively and musical. A town came together to celebrate a young man's life. I am adding a link in my "Eye Candy" section called the Caring Bridge with his parent's permission and also, if you would like to go to "My Space" and do a search for Bryan Tressler, you will see Bryan. Both of these places will tell you Bryan's Story in his words and the words of his family and friends. Bryan Tressler~ you rock!

I just finished reading the complete online journal of Bryan's amazing sojourn through illness. What an incredible kid Bryan is (and I use the present tense because he lives on in your hearts) and his story will be an inspiration to those going through a difficult time in life, because he didn't let cancer affect the quality of his life.
God Bless Bryan and his loving family.

After reading your post on the list serv I am sitting here in tears. You could have been writing our story. The very same thing happened with infection, blood pressure etc. We too were able all be with Darren as he left us and we also assured him it was alright to go. I felt afterwards that he was probably tired of fighting this horrible disease and would have never been able to tell us that. I decided it was his way to end the fight. I am so sorry for the pain you are feeling right now, but I also now how wonderful it is to encourage people to celebrate the life an amazing child.

I prayed for him and you guys, and know that he made it to heaven. I can't imagine how hard it must be for you guys to make it through a day. Bryan fought a courageous battle and will be remembered for that. I don't believe that I actually met him, but I feel like I was a part of him, in spirit, helping him fight his battle. I love you guys so much. I wish I had the strength right now that you guys do. I am always here for you in any way I can. Bryan's voyage through life was of greater meaning than our lives. He was here to be a teacher, not the kind you study to learn about, but the kind that breathes and eminates lessons and knowledge. He will forever be deeply rooted in my heart. I know that his memory will never fade. I love you guys.

It amazes me just how many lives Bryan has touched! My daughter Bailey enjoyed him so much and he has certainly left a perminant imprint on this family. After Bailey and I went through the calling hours, we crossed the street and went to be with her friend at the Church. It rained..it poured and it HAILED!!!! Bailey had told me of Bryan's love of snowboarding and at that moment we both looked at each other and smiled. We know he was definately telling all of us that he was near with the closest thing to snow he could send!

Bryan was truley the most outgoing and strong person I have ever met in my life and I am sure he always will be. I never saw him with a frown on his face and he always took a positive side out of everything. He really enjoyed what he had in his life besides the fact of his illness. I will definatly miss his awsome hair and the smile on his face.

I am so sorry Bryan didn't make it after fighting
NB for seven years (I think). You took every path
there was to take in hoping there would be a cure
for Bryan.
I would just love it when I would come to Bryan web
page & see him flying in the air on his snow board.
We will never forget Bryan & his family, because you
were the first one to welcome me when I join NB
support group. When Josh & Sherry got to meet you all
at MSKCC and Bryan brought Josh something for his
fishing. That thrill Josh so.
It was tears of joy what you said to Bryan about
running to Jesus. Hold on to those words, you know
Jesus& all his angels welcome Bryan home with open
arms. Your family is in my prayers as you face this
week end. I know Bryan will always live deep in all of your heart.
Hope you will be able to stay on our NB group. They
need you.

We're beyond sickened to learn of your horrible loss. Words can't possibly express our sadness and anger. I'll forever remember a "very cool" Bryan busy with entertainment and not letting his disease slow him down. May God somehow grant you comfort.

Bryan, I am so happy to hear this positive news! I check this website daily, looking for good news, and pray for your recovery. Keep a positive attitude, and try to laugh. After all, they say that laughter is a strong healing force! I know you will beat this, since you are the strongest fighter that I have ever seen! God bless your endurance. Hey Tresslers,
Wonderful to hear the ABT is working well. With this demon disease, stable is good. Anna has been stable through five rounds, starting six tomorrow. We didn't anticipate the side effects; they seem to be more prevalent than the docs are letting on. She's had abdominal pain and some increased peripheral neuropathy. We're taking it round by round as Anna has a full load at school and looking to move out to CA (from IL) for the winter term. She'd drop the ABT if she had a good alternative. Hope and pray for your continued success. Here's to PFS -- progression free survival!

Dear Bryan,

I am a cousin to your Uncle Gene who is married to your Aunt Dottie. They keep me inform of your battles with medical issues.

I am very proud and impressed with your strength. Keep on keeping on and continue to stay strong!

I happen to believe in the positive power of visulization and prayer when dealing with serious health issues. Talk to your Mom and Dad about this. Can mind over matter work? I absolutely belive it! Know that you are in my prayers, Bryan. By the way, I like your name.

Hang in there and take life one day at a time. Continue with your good works in school. I know you make your Mom and Dad proud.

Hey Bryan,
Way to go! What a great honor to receive a letter from the President. I know your parents must be so proud of you. We will keep you and your family in our prayers. Our grand daughter Jillian has Neuroblastoma, so we understand some of what you have been going through.
Take it one day at a time, and keep doing great things.
Best wishes to you always,
Ronda

Hi Bryan - I just read your "update". Things sound like they're going well. Look out for jelly fish in the bay. I saw one on the beach of the Sound. Things are the same at school. The kids had field day this week - it was hot. Have a good weekend - good luck at little league!

Hi Bryan,

Cool webpage. Hope those stem cells get to work right away so that you're able to get the antibody treatments in between ballgames.

Bryan:

You don't know who I am but Susan Erland tells me about you all the time and sent me your website. She is my step-mother and her son Brett is my brother. Brett and I were actually skiing at Okemo one weekend when you were there and we looked for you in one of the lodges but there were too many people!! Keep up the good work in school and on the slopes!! God bless...

Bryan,

It's pretty cool having your own web page. Congratulations on your first place in the science fair! You must be pretty smart.

Is that really you catching all that air on your snow board? Woody can't even get that high on his board.

Have fun at Okemo!
