This page is all about ME!! I am Ashlee Jean Kelly. I was born on 11/19/00 with a rare liver disease called Biliary Atresia. I am waiting for a liver transplant at Columbia Presbytarian Hospital in NYC. We do not yet know when I will get my gift of life, but we do know I will need it to survive in the future. To date my liver and spleen are big and my liver functions remain high, except my bili which is normal. I'm not yellow at all and to look at me you would never know I was sick. I have been diagnosed with portal hypertension, and esophageal and stomach varices. I have been sick on and off for the past couple months. I have one sister Alyssa who is 9. Please remember to talk to your family about organ donation...share your life.

Check out Haleys Foundation! Haley was an amazing little girl, we had the honor of meeting her and her wonderful family, she died without ever getting a new liver. She is now an amazing angel, please stop by the foundation website, I am a volunteer for the foundation. If you have any ideas on good ways to raise money for the foundation let me know! THANKS!

Wednesday, June 18, 2008 1:23 PM CDT Sorry for the lack of updates. I guess no news is good news. Ashlee just had transplant clinic, and things are going well. They say she looks great. Her spleen seems smaller, cause she is getting taller, so it tucks nicely under her ribs, a good thing. Her liver is a little smaller too. She is gatting taller. They are schedueling her yearly endoscopy. If her varices, currently grade 2, are worse they will band them. Lets pray they are the same or better! We are waiting on her labs, she has really low platlets and WBC...I hope they are better.
She is excelling. She was diagnosed with ADHD, and she is seeing a therapist, and doing better. She just finished softball, and made All-Stars, and she is very excited about that, so she will be playing all summer. She will also be going to gymnastics camp, now that her spleen is protected by her ribs, so she can do gymnastics again, she is thrilled. She has also passed the second grade, going onto third, yipee.
I will update with her labs, wish us well!!! Thanks for checking in!
