ALLIA ISABELLA VILLA

Welcome to Allia's Web Page. It has been provided to keep people updated about her treatment and progress.
Allia is eight years old. She was diagnosed on October 18, 2004 with a very rare malignant brain tumor called Atypical Teratoid Rhabdoid Tumor (ATRT). She has had two surgeries to remove the tumor and 6 weeks of radiation. She also received four cycles of high dose chemotherapy and bone marrow transplants. My little girl is strong and brave and I am so proud of her!

Tuesday, June 12, 2007 5:27 PM CDT Hi everyone. It's been over two months since I last updated and I apologize for the delay. I always say I'm going to try to do my best but somehow everyday life gets in the way. But I guess that is a good thing because it usually means things are going well.
Allia is doing really well. She has about 2 more weeks of school and then finally the summer break will be here. She will be attending a summer program so it won't be a complete break but still we are very much looking forward to it. Health wise she has had a couple of cases of strep throat with scarlet fever and all! Unfortunately she's allergic to penicillin so the doctors have to get creative with her meds sometimes. But other than that she is doing really well.
Ariel is good also. She is growing into a young lady more and more everyday. She is like Allia's second mom which is helpful to me beyond words. They have their moments when they bicker but that is what siblings do and I don't take that for granted. It is so good to be home living a normal everyday life. Even if they drive me crazy! :)
We have finally gotten word that Allia's Make a Wish trip to Disney has been approved and we are so happy! We will be going with her paternal grandma and Allia couldn't be happier. It is planned for the second week of July. So we will take lots of pictures and hopefully meet Spiderman!
As for me I finished my semester at school and did well. As I said in my last entry I have to take some time off of school b/c I overlooked that application deadline. I was really bummed for awhile but got over it and am now really looking forward to the summer and time with the girls and my mom. God knows what he is doing and who am I to fight his will? So I just decided to surrender it to him. I know he'll lead me in the right direction.
I have recently had a couple of families contact me b/c their children had been diagnosed with ATRT and wanted some info. This is always hard to hear b/c we've been there and know how hard the road is. I am keeping them in prayer and wishing them much comfort and strength.
I also recently found out that a young lady I knew personally from St. Jude's passed away. Her name was Ronell. She was quite an extraordinary girl and her faith was amazing. She was an inspiration to me and to the people in her life. I have her family in prayer as well. www.caringbridge.org/tn/ronell
Well I thank those who have signed tbe guestbook. If you visit please sign so I know you were here. I continue to think of so many families and I am hoping everyone is well. As always you are never far from my mind. God bless you all.
