Chrissy,

I now know what is means to be touched by an angel. Chrissy improved my life in so many was I lost count. From the first time that I walked into Chrissy's room at Children's Hospital, I noticed that the light in Chrissy's room was so much brighter than most. I realized that it was Chrissy's smile that was causing the extra glow. I now have a gaurdian angel that is watching over me, and all of those who touched Chrissy life along her difficult journey. Chrissy spread your wings and fly without the restraints that chalanged you. You were so brave, and when my day comes, I can only hope to be as strong as you. Thanks for being my special little friend, and now it's your turn to watch over your family as they did for you.....

Friends for life....

mom you are such an awesome mom! at children's i watched you night after night and day after day and you always managed to make me smile as we both shook our heads silently at just how arduous this process is....you did a fantastic 'job' and raised a beautiful funny expressive young woman who never gave up...just like her mom, very down to earth and honest and strong.....take care and know that we will never forget you or your daughter....

Dearest Nelson Family--Many many condolences to you. Chrissy was an amazing, amazing girl. I loved taking care of her, because of how brave she was, how she was a fighter of figheters with the strongest will to live. She taught me much about life. I still tell many stories about her. Remember when she was hiding from Ry behind the nursing station and her IV pole was sticking straight up?!?! And I will never forget how she smiled with all her heart & soul. Much love and prayers to you. She will always live in our hearts, because she taught us so much.

my prayers go out to you and my sincerest condolences to your family, dearest little chrissy. i followed your story in the news and in your journals from the beginning. I'm sorry never to have known you personally, but your fight struck a chord in me because I lost my uncle at a young age under similar circumstances (non-hodgkins lymphoma & two bone marrow transplants) new year's day 3-1/2 years ago. I could only begin to wish to have one iota of the courage and optimism you and my uncle displayed.

Your grandfather and I are so glad that you're home with us in Las Vegas. It is great to be only 15 minutes away instead of 12 hours, now we can go and visit more often. Thanks for coming for a visiting Saturday with us and watching a movie with your grandfather, he was so happy to spend the time with you, so was I. Dear Chrissy and Family,
I am so glad that you are all together @ home, now. The pictures are good--especially the one of Chrissy in front of the big gray building--is that the hospital ? It looks like a castle, sort of. Your wk.end sounds nice for 4th of July with the water fight and fireworks and all your Utah family. However, the Nurse in me has to say: pace yourself
and don't over do it (being outside in the sun, being too busy, etc.) Take care; it will be good to see you, Chrissy, when you're ready for a visit @ school. Love, Miss Maggie

Hello,
How was your journey home? Did you stop and take any photos along the way? I bet it was a long trip. Did you drive a little, so Your Mom could take a nap? I also bet you were really happy to get home. I know I glad too. I do miss not seeing you, but I will always have a best friend. You are such a special friend, and I know I will see you again one day real soon. But this time I will drive to your town.
Take care and be safe too. Enjoy your 4th of July weekend, and say hello to everyone for me. Everyone at Children's Hospital sends their best too. I know you will have lots, and lots and lots of fun. Take care and be safe too.....

Aunt Angell and I were looking at your newest photos and see that you are looking much better. Your Dad says that you might be home by the end of the month, and we can't wait to see you .Chelsea is especially looking forward to it .She asks every day how much longer until you come home. She and Eldon weren't able to come up to Oakland with your dad and Ry because their mom had plans for them. And because her mothers plans interfere with most weekends this month, we will probably put her b-day party off until the end of this month.Hopefully you will be home for the party ,Chels misses you so much that it will be easy for her to wait. We hope the test goes well on Friday and that you will be coming home really soon.xoxoxoxo's from Eldon, Chelsea,Aunt Angell and Uncle Rich.

Chrissy,
Hi there! Im so glad your feeling well enough to write us a message. Justin is doing well. He's finishing up with his baseball season and starting his football season. He's doing well in school, although over track break he had to do a huge project. It was a biography of Jason Kidd (basketball player) I think it took him all break but he got it done. He's definatly missing Mrs. Hooper and 2nd grade. He was very jeouse when he seen your picture with the baseball player. His favorite team is the Braves and his favorite player is Chipper Jones.
Anyway, were all glad to hear your doing so well today. Stay strong and you'll be home in no time. We miss you!

You are famous! Johnny is so impressed that you're a Giants fan and met their pitcher. He wishes he could meet him! You look great in your photos--I log on and read your journal each day. I bet everyone at the hospital is glad that you're there--you must make their stay a whole lot funner. You are such a neat, special girl and we can't wait to see you home again. We've really missed your smiling, beautiful face each week in primary.

PS Keep up the good work--you'll be home in no time!

Hugs and kisses.

Hello Chrissy! I am sooooo sorry that I haven't written to you in awhile. My husband and I have both been feeling ill. I would raher take care of 12 sick kids than my one husband when he feels bad. He has been a pain!! I am done with school for the summer, I'm sure glad to get the break. Sunrise has been busy. We got another LDS kid with AML. He is very sweet. I think he is thirteen. He came in a week or so ago but all last week I was floated to work in the Emergency Room so last night was the first time that I got to really meet him.
I hope you continue to improve day by day and get to leave the hospital soon. Dimare leaves Las Vegas sometime this week for her BMT. She is going to California also.(I can't remember if it is Oakland or Los Angeles though)
Well, I need to go and take Zachary to school. He says to tell you Hi and he hopes you get better really soon. Love, Heidi

Dear Chrissy,
The news from you is all good. Congratulations!!! You have done a splendid job. It is Sunday night. I have wondered all day if your Mom had a good Mother's Day. I hope so. A lot of us were thinking about her. All is well here. I talked to Greatgrandmother today. She had a good day and the church program brought to the nursing home was a good one this week. She will be 90 in a few weeks. She is amazing. And she always asks about you. She loves you a lot. Take care girl and don't give those nurses too much trouble. Tell them hello from me and thanks. Hi Chrissy,
I know your grandmother from work and have often prayed for your quick recovery ... I am sorry you have had a bit of a bad day ... But you hang in there ... You are a very tough girl and I know you will win this battle ... I made a donation today to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society ... I did this with you and the many children that have the same battle you have on my mind ... I could think of nothing any harder that what you have had to deal with ... I want you, your family and all who suffer the same to know that you will always be in my prayers for a quick and healthy recovery so that you can enjoy your youth the same as my nine year old daughter Kimberly does ... God speed and God Bless you and your family

Hi Chrissy and family. My name is Martha and my daughter Melanie went to UCLA on 12/2000 and received her bone marrow transplant on 12/20/00. She was 7 then, today she is eleven years old. God works miracles and He will do a miracle in you. Hang on to God's hand and do not let go and when you think you can't do anymore, hold on to His hand even tighter. Remember the Story of David and Goliath...You are like little David and your transplant and everything that goes with it is your Goliath... and God will give you the strength and courage to beat your Goliath. I try to follow the stories on the news about you because my husband and I have been in your parents shoes and our daughter, Melanie has been in yours. We know how hard and painful it can be, but you are not alone. You have touched everyone's heart. We love you and are praying for you and We pray to God that you will be home before June. We were supposed to be at UCLA 3 months-we were back in 7 weeks!!! :) God Bless you:)
If you'd like to write to my daughter-Melanie and ask her questions you can. :)

HAPPY EASTER CHRISSY!!!!--Hope this note finds your tummy feeling better. You are in our prayers each day.I hope the musical box got there.A note about Grandma Marge as a little girl--She wanted to lay a trick on her Uncle Roy by breakin an Easter egg on his head!! She didn't know he had just been out to gather the fresh eggs from the hen house. Foolishly he had set them down on the porch beside his chair. The catch is --the bowl of cooked Easter eggs were also setting on the other side of his chair!!!Margie tiptoed up behind him grabbed an egg (from the WRONG bowl) and cracked it on her UNcle Roy's Head! Needless to say she ran for her life!! He caught her on her 3rd flight around the old farmhouse and made her wash his hair and give him half of all the candy the Easter Bunny left her! She did so laughing all the time--no doubt planning her next prank!! Take care Little one. Love, cousin Marilu

We are all so glad you are progressing and the transplant seems to be "taking Hold." Keep up the good work. I get tickled when you said you wanted Manderian Oranges. Your Great Grandmother Bartholomew likes Manderian Oranges a lot and always had cans on hand on her shelf in the basement. You must have inherited the taste for them from her. She was always using them when she cooked for us.
So glad you all got to be a family again. That is so important. I know you enjoyed being all together.

Gator,
It was good to see you smiling. I sure miss that smile and being able to see you every day. So many people here at the hospital ask how you're doing. Also, people from as far away as Montana, Georgia, Utah and Virginia are calling me to see how you're doing. There are so many people who care about you, so hang in there Gator. Love, Grandma Gator

Hi to Chrissy, and the whole Nelson Family. This is Kathy and Kimberly Creech from School / neighborhood. It is a dreary and rainy day here, but I know we need the water, so praise God for this!! Today is the last day of school for a week of Spring Break now. We were supposed to go camping this weekend, to the river for a river clean-up day tomorrow. Kim is in the L.V. Jr. Fly Fishing club, and they have a section of the Colorado river outside of Laughlin that they clean and trim trails, etc. every year. We were going to go in a tent for the whole weekend, but it is so rainy out. I think we will just go early in the morining to help with the clean-up, then come back home. I don't look forward to having a weekend in a tent with two kids. Kim got her cast off yesterday, and now has a short splint for 4 weeks. She was glad to get in the shower without a bag on her arm!! She sends her love, we pray for all of you every night. Things look good, our God is an awesome God, isn't He!!! We will write again soon. Love, Kathy and Kim

Hi Chrissy! I am glad to see you up and walking around. It's great to see you. I am sorry that your tummy is being a pain. I know it's not a pleasant feeling to be sick to your stomach. I had an easy night at Sunrise last night. I was a babysitter in the ICU. I basically did my homework, fill-in puzzles, and watched TV all night. It was easy. I would of rather of been taking care of you though. I sure miss your beautiful smiling face. Have Mom keep putting pictures up on the website so I don't forget what you look like. Take care sweetie!! Love and Prayers - Heidi

P.S. You should of seen the tricks Della was playing on the nurses for April's Fools Day. It was fun. I'll tell you more about them later.:)

HI Chrissy!
We are so happy that you are doing better. I bet all the itching stinks though. Im sure it will be better in no time!
I just wanted to share a story with you.
You know that I work at K-Mart, this month is our March of Dimes fundraiser. We sell the little shoes and when you donate a dollor you can put your name on it and then we hang it up on our wall. Well, i bought a few and signed them "Get well soon Chrissy!" Now everytime someone buys one they put the same thing. Everyone knows who you are from the news. Its great to see how many people are pulling for you to get better. So, now when everyone goes to K-Mart they see tons of shoes with your name on them!
Remember that we are thinking of you every day and cant wait for you to come back to school.

Dear Chrissy,
I really miss you and hope that the transplant works. This is Kimmy. Ms. Brown says that she misses you a lot and that the kids hope that you get well soon. In music class Ms. Witz is teaching us how to play the recorders. In art we are drawing dragons and Chinese stuff. In P.E. we are doing a lot of cool stuff on scooter boards. But I can't do that now for a couple of weeks because I have a cast on my right arm. That is the arm that I write with, so I have a hard time writing. Now there are three of us that have to sit out in P.E. with broken bones, Me, Kevin, and Blake from Mrs. Gray's class. I love you and I miss you. Love, Kimmy

Hi Chrissy and Ronnie,
This is Kimberly, (and mom, Kathy) from Treem. We are still praying for you every day and night. Soon you will be on the way to full recovery. Won't that be great!!!! Kimberly broke her wrist yesterday, skating outside, so she is having a hard time at school, as it is her right hand. But, of course Ms. Brown is really sweet about it, and is having other kids help her with her writing. Kevin Yeager helped today, he has a broken LEFT arm, so they are both in the same situation. All the kids say hi, and are thinking about you. We pray for you, Ronnie, for strength, rest, and respite. Take care. Kim and Kathy Creech

Dear Chrissy,
Hang in there. You have a lot of people praying for you! Not much new here except Jennifer and family are going to go to Disney World for spring break. They will take Tyler (age 5) but old grandma and grandpa here gets to baby sit Julianne. (Age 2). Won't that be fun??? I will let you know if we survive. The weather here is beautiful today in Texas. Yesterday it rained so hard that you couldn't see across the street. The rain came down sideways. I am always thankful when we don't have a tornado during those wild storms. We are beginning tornado season. Now it is your turn to pray for us. Take care of yourself.
We are so happy for this web page. Great Grandma is praying for you too. Ronni, If we send a birthday present to Chrissy (March 16,) and mail it to the hospital, will they deliver it to Chrissy?? Are they pretty good about getting her mail to her?

Hi Chrissy! My name is Cassie and I am a volunteer for the Make a Wish Foundation of Southern Nevada. I heard you got to go on a very special wish to meet Winnie! You are lucky! I am sure you had a great time! I just wanted to wish you luck with your bone marrow transplant next week. Remember to be brave and to keep a smile on your face! Think of your trip to Disneyworld to help.

Hi Chrissy.......This is Alice, your Dad's former supervisor & friend. I'm very happy to hear how well you're doing. I know you've had some good days as well as some bad days, but you are a fighter because God gave you such a strong soul. Keep it up, Honey, it won't be long and you'll be back in regular school with all your friends!
P.S. Do you remember when I picked up your Barbie House for my grandaughter, Jaida? Well, I'd like to thank you again for that Barbie House because now I have another grandaughter, Amore, who loves playing in it! See......your kindness has brought joy to two little girls you don't even know!
