Monday, October 8, 2012 7:02 AM CDT Happy 8th Crapaversary!
Hard to believe it has been 8 years since diagnosis day, but the calendar doesn't lie. Speaking with Trevor about it this weekend, he said there are times when it feels like it is much more recent. He struggles with this a bit: "I know cancer is a terrible thing, and I really wish no one had to go through it - but if I didn't, I wouldn't have met all these really great people - like Dr. E. and Nurse Alice and all the people at Camp Quality - and I would have missed them."
I suppose, in a weird way, it's the gift that no one wants - sort of like turning lemons into lemonade, only in this case the lemons can REALLY mess up your life!
Here's hoping for continued recovery, and meeting more great people in less urgent circumstances!
