Victoria Nowak Welcome to Victoria's update web page.
Journal
Monday, February 14, 2005 8:51 AM CST It has officially been two years since Victoria was released from the hospital as an inpatient. Wow! Two years! She has done so much since getting out of that room.
I am writing today because I read a completely awesome news story yesterday about a girl (now a woman) that has been recovering from a brain injury for 20 years. Yep. Twenty years. She was 18 years old at the time and is currently in a nursing home where she is cared for mostly by nurses. This girl has not progressed beyond where Victoria was two months after the accident. Until now. She started speaking for the first time a few weeks ago and called her parents last week to tell them that she loved them! Can you believe it? I wept. The recovery process from a brain injury is so unknown, so complex, and so varied. The brain is so powerful.
Just a short one. Bye
