Krysten's Web Page

Welcome to Krysten's Web Page.

It has been provided to keep people updated about our Child.
Krysten is 11 years old and was diagnosed with a brain tumor called Medulloblastoma on January 11, 2005. Two weeks prior to her diagnosis, she was showing symptoms of double vision, vertigo, nausea, vomitting & headaches originating in the back of her head. She was operated on by Dr. Arno Fried on January 14th, 2005 with a total resection of the tumor. She now has Cerebellar Mutism which can last for many months. This is not uncommon with the area of surgery that Krysten has had. Krysten is still recovering from surgery and has been at Hackensack Medical Center for the past month. On January 19th and internal shunt was placed and an Internal shunt fixed on Jan 19th for Hydrocephallus. She has also recently had a port put in place. On February 12th, 2005, we received more bad news regarding Krysten. She was diagnosed with Familial Adenomatous Polyposis (FAP). FAP is polyps or adenomas throughout the intestinal tract. It is an inherited bowel cancer sydrome, indicated by a change in the APC gene.

Hi,

I know it has been a very, very long time since we added a new entry on this page. We have been extremely busy with Krysten and her therapies, treatments, clinic visits, and tests. Not to mention the four other children.

Krysten's spirits seem to be good but she is really getting frustrated with her inability to walk. She keeps trying though.

Krysten and her brother Alexander just had another session of scopes done and polyps were found in Krystens' colon and stomach. Alexander had them found in his colon, stomach, small intestine, and esophagus.

We were given a doctor to go see in Mt. Sinai hospital in New York City. We were told it couldn't hurt to get a second opinion. I guess it couldn't hurt. We have an appointment for the 24th of Aug.

We are all trying to keep our spirits up. Trying to enjoy this real hot summer. We are planning a vacation at Mt. Pocono and do some camping. We checked it out and all the kids are very excited to go.

We are going to try extremely hard to keep up with the entries on this page. Please keep us in your prayers.

God Bless
