Welcome to our Child Web Page. It has been provided to keep people updated about Colin and his treatment schedule.
Colin was diagnosed with Clear Cell Sarcoma in April 2000. After having his right kidney and the tumor removed, he went through six days of radiation and seven months of chemotherapy. Colin had an active and healthy two years, until Christmas 2002. He started complaining of headaches. Doctors thought an ear infection was the culprit. He finished 10 days of antibiotics but the headaches continued. Along with the pediatrician, we decided to schedule an MRI. It revealed a large mass on his left frontal lobe. He had surgery January 20th 2003 to remove the tumor and 17 radiation treatments throughout February. Colin was starting chemotherapy to prepare him for a stem-cell-transplant when we started this site.
Journal
Monday, April 25, 2011 10:24 PM CDT Colin is doing well. He is 3/4 done the fifth grade and doesn't love it. He is involved in chorus & band. He had a wonderful easter, receiving a Wizard 101 giftcard as well as plenty of candy & bubble gum. He continues to do well with his daily growth hormone shots, doing them himself. He has 20/20 vision and his kidney remains stable with the small dose ACE inhibitor he is on.
He has been bugging for weeks about opening the pool. However, the weather has been unpredictable, 70's one day and 50's the next. He goes in the basement on the Total Gym and runs miles on the Wii "in traing" for the mile run at school.
He has the dryest sense of humor, I think sometimes he is misunderstood. He cracks us up almost daily. My 37th Birthday was yesterday & after asking him I was old, he responded, "37 is not old, 47 is OLD"...As if?!
On a heavier note, I am sad to report that a fellow CCSK "fighter" has lost her battle. Please say prayers for the Huckfeldt family in the coming weeks, months, years...
