Erin's Story Welcome to Erin's Page. We created the page to keep family and friends up to date on her battle against cancer. Erin was originally diagnosed with leukemia in October of 1999. We finished chemotherapy May 1, 2002. We found out she relapsed March 21, 2003. We are continuing the battle....

Saturday, August 16, 2003 8:06 PM CDT Hello Friends, I'm so sorry to take so long to update - I've received so many touching notes from you and it finally prodded me along. I'm sorry I've been remiss - I think that, at times, it "all" comes crashing in. Sometimes I have a hard time believing that it's all back again. We spend a lot of time either at the hospital or preparing to go. Erin is holding strong but is growing tired from the chemo. Her marrow is taking a beating and it's starting to take a little longer to recover each time. We just had to rush her to the clinic Thursday afternoon with a fever of 103* +. They believe she has a staph infection and we'll be in for a bit. When we get out we start her cranial radiation/CNS intensification. We get 10 days of cranial radiation and 4 triple spinals (they insert a needle into her spine and inject the chemo. It'll be a really tough 2 1/2 weeks and we're expecting that she'll feel pretty lousy. She'll also be on high dose steroids at that time. My Dad is coming up to take care of Matthew so Erin and I can make the trip to UMass daily. (we're having the radiation there b/c it's a bit closer and the head of QC for the Children's Oncology Group Radiation section is the head of the dep't. We've met him and he's wonderful! We'd appreciate any prayers you can pass along. Our faith in God to lead us through is sometimes all we have to give us strength. Again, I'm so sorry that I haven't updated - I've been in a bit of a depression and didn't want to give any negative updates. I really can't tell you how much your prayers and notes mean to us. It's hard to believe that so many people check in - from the bottom of my heart - thanks! In His love, Anne
